  1. Good points JohnL Thank goodness the country has gotten over it's blind spot about narcissistic showoffs who, as soon as they get in to trouble, like to play the clown and everyone laughs again, and everyone forgets about the disturbing stuff they are trying to hide eh?
  2. " well beyond a joke now..." never invite a vampire into your home - he won't leave just because you've realised he's a vampire
  3. "Well a quick skim of the report suggests a massive anti-climax....no matter what your view on the PM and the goverenment." the fact he publicly used a far-right Saville smear against KS and accused the opposition benches of being junkies suggests he is more riled than anti-climactic
  4. "I don't know anybody called John Smith, apart from the famous ones! " Well I'm not famous but you know me and that's my name - even if I tend to go with the Irish version online (SeanMacGabhann)
  5. try being called "John Smith" all of the lame check-in jokes or the "bitter/beer" jokes or the 20 other John Smiths at work
  6. don't forget Larry Elliott - he has been "at it" in the Graun today as well
  7. I read these stories (and I know stories like this in my own life too) and I refuse to believe me calling this nonsense out makes me the toxic one. I simply refuse to be gaslit by people like Cat calling me toxic. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/jan/29/brexit-pubs-curry-pg-tips-but-not-weather-what-exiles-miss-about-uk?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  8. Oh so would I But weren?t we told we could do that not by raising taxes but by leaving eu?
  9. Desperate stuff. All this damage for? nothing https://amp.ft.com/content/c00ab524-4320-4036-b8f4-813cfd491bd5 Of course I am just an unintelligent poster on a local forum - smarter people than me, who have planned for leaving the eu for years and years will have loads of concrete, actual benefits. Any day now In the meantime. This national insurance rise coming in a few months to find the nhs. Is that on top of or instead of the 350 million a week?
  10. Any man who can look at all the issues caused by Brexit, the contradictory positions that mean it will never be satisfied, and say other people are the problem? That?s a man with certainty I will never have
  11. And then of course there is this https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/01/27/rishi-sunak-fighting-hard-stop-invoking-article-16-claim-boris/ The internal hysteria of the tory party playing out at cost to everyone - If only it was confined to Leavers. But Remainers and other countries pay the price too But it's this thread and people like me that are "toxic"
  12. I know - but I still think this is simpler """If we are making things more expensive or peoples lives more complicated, then we are getting it wrong"" " you can publish all of the critiques you like - but if senior brexit people are saying they didn't expect leaving SM and CU to make things more expensive for people, or make their lives more complicated - well... what can you say? They know nothing
  13. Speaking of people with views completely out of touch with the real world - we have Frosty in today's Sun saying ""If we are making things more expensive or peoples lives more complicated, then we are getting it wrong"" without any sense of irony or self-awareness That is LITERALLY what his deal that he created and urged the country to vote for did, does and will continue to do
  14. "judge a mans chracter becuase of a view he holds" without being toxic, we, all of us, judge people's character because of views they hold To take one example - You and I probably share the same judgement of Jeremy Corbyn, precisely because of the views he holds. And we are correct
  15. "You are accurate. I agree with this article " It's a free country. But it doesn't speak well of you or the author
  16. You would think, almost 6 years after the referendum, better plans would be in place for things like this wouldn't you? I would suggest that if the country can't get it's shit together for something like this in 6 years, the prospect of it doing anything better after 10, 20 or even 50 years isn't great https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/jan/27/british-farmers-call-for-summit-on-worsening-pig-cull-crisis
  17. Appeal for information Information found: the problem is you How you deal with this information is also up to you
  18. Cat has an article published in telegraph today. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/01/26/conservatives-face-1997-style-annihilation-dont-stop-drift/
  19. "in terms of..." has become a conversational tic for so many people at work
  20. More petty people here I mean jeez. Just shut up already guys. Stop being so petty. Some of us are thinking about the bigger picture yeah? Like GDPR? Hello? And here you are bleating about, oh I dunno. I tuned out after www.gr https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/jan/23/brexit-leaves-furious-british-citizens-stranded-in-eu-countries?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  21. Pointing out the seriousness of the problems hasn?t worked with you. And we have nothing but a petty useless government behind a petty useless project. So it?s not amazingly surprising I know the attempted lofty ?ugh. You people and your childishness? is meant to convey some gravitas. But it doesn?t work with likes of Rees mogg and it doesn?t work with you If people bring up important subjects like Northern Ireland peace or 17 mile tailbacks, you could engage properly
  22. Meanwhile we have other leavers accusing William wragg of being a bitter remainer despite him being a hard leaver What is WRONG with these people ?
  23. That mp quite at the end. ?The French will have to help us. Causing queues in Calais as well? Yes. Exactly as predicted and which the govt lies to us and said no it wouldn?t. What are the French going to do to ?help?? Abolish checks for third countries? Uk voted to put up barriers and now there are barriers. Christ alive the gall of these people. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jan/22/dover-blames-queues-on-spike-in-freight-traffic-not-brexit?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  24. Countdown to a new tv series called Trigger Point https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/trigger-point-itv-start-date-b1997902.html?amp
  25. I'm certainly not enjoying the damage being done to the country (then again, "f*** business" eh?) But I am very much enjoying some degree of accountability, some sort of comeuppance for such a blatant, awful liar. The longer he stays in power the worse it will be for the country so, god riddance What I WILL enjoy is knowing that for as long as he lives, he will live with the shame. The reality gap between how he saw himself as PM and the the actuality. he should never have been PM - but he came to power because of lies (his brexit lies) and so he departs because of lies. There were only ever lies And so now we face a 4th tory PM in 6 years.
