  1. A bit of a plug for the forum here but whether your selling your property privately or through an agent please feel free to post details of it in the residential property section of this website. It's free and is hopefully a useful extra channel for you to sell (and buy) your house or flat in East Dulwich.
  2. Like a lot of things you get what you pay for and I have the impression that this place will be more of an Aston Martin service centre than an East End Mitchell Brothers garage/panel beaters. I would love to take my body in for a proper service but my wallet says no at the moment however I think there are people in the East Dulwich area that can afford it and will make ESPH a success. Good luck Max.
  3. All other agents in East Dulwich have been asked if they would like to help support the forum and none (except Winksworths who supported us briefly) responded. And all 15 or so of them have been approached so please don't feel that Foxtons have been given preference, if any others would like to chip in then they're more than welcome.
  4. A user on this forum, Fatfightersforever, suggested that the forum should approach Foxtons for a donation towards the forum's birthday party next week. I did, and they have, they've kindly offered to donate some money and some bottles of champagne. Green & Blue are also going to donate a bottle of very fine wine so it's looking like there will be a charity raffle on the night.
  5. Apparently not at the moment, they would like to move here but they haven't found the right premises yet. The Iceland here in ED wouldn't give up the lease.
  6. I can tell you that it's definitely not going to be a M&S, I have a mole on the inside (of M&S) who tells me so.
  7. Go to http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx and search on "Dulwich war" without the quotes, some nice photos. I would post them on here but the photo police would get me.
  8. I've just sent an email (well I copied Marmora Man's) to [email protected] too. From experience it's always best to put your address on emails to the council so they know you're a local.
  9. If a forum can help build a better community then I'm all for it. I'm offering my help to downsouth to set up a forum in a way that I know works and if a bit of healthy competition grows between East side and West side (how Romeo and Juliet or Ali G depending on your preference) then excellent, I look forward to the inter-Dulwich cricket match next year.

it actually says "The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their address omitted from the WHOIS service", saying that I'm "hiding" my details makes it sound so ominous don't you think? To answer your question, when I bought the domain name I wasn't trading, I should really get round to changing that domain registration sometime. Please, I'm asking you to stop the underhand comments. Truce? [edited once]

So, as we suspected it transpires that the user "lovely" is behind the other forum. Why did he have to be so underhand and sneaky about it by coming on here and lying? It's not really a good basis on which to run a community forum is it?

So the user "lovely" also went onto wikipedia and deleted the link to the East Dulwich Forum from the East Dulwich page! And then put a link to the other forum (whose links I've had removed from this post) calling it "The community forum for East Dulwich". If you're going to be competition for this forum Steve please play fairly.
  16. Last Tuesday we had 871 visitors to the East Dulwich Forum website, that's 871 individual unique users looking at and using this website. That's more than I ever expected when I set up the site a year ago and in order to upgrade the server to cope with the traffic we need to do the second part of the upgrade this weekend. This means that the website maybe unavailable for a short period of time, hopefully just a few hours but we promise we'll try and keep it to a minimum. Work will start this evening (Friday) at about 8 o'clock which shouldn't affect most of you as you should be out having a fun Friday evening anyway. Speaking of fun Friday evenings, don't forget to put the Forum's first birthday party on Friday 21st September in your diary. Imagine if 871 people came to that. Apologies in advance for any disruption and thanks for using the forum.
  17. Hi, we are thinking of splitting it into two "Wanted & offered" and "local recommendations" and now we're thinking of doing in even more so as you've said this. We may also expand the number of listing on a page so that the first page lists 30 titles, or if it's feasible, even give people the option of choosing how many they see. These changes will take place after the birthday party when hopefully we'll get some more feedback to think about and perhaps action Thanks for your comments ed_pete, as always we don't know what people think unless they tell us so it's appreciated
  18. Does anyone have the email address for the Foxton's Dulwich contact from those letters (it's not on the website)? I want to ask them if they will chip into the forum's birthday drinks...
  19. Biffin's bridge always makes me chuckle I like the example: You look a bit pale today mom, yeah your dad crosed biffins bridge last night . [edited once]
  20. I'd highly recommend it too and say it's a welcome addition to Lordship Lane. It's comfortable, light and airy, has friendly staff and serves good coffee and cakes. The upstairs is accessed by a spiral staircase so those who are pram-phobic can relax up there.

  24. I shall try it out today for elevenses and report back. Come and join me for a cup of tea if you're free.
  25. Hi HennyPenny I've just had the second Foxtons letter delivered, this one aimed at lettings and saying they are opening a new "caf?-style office" on Lordship Lane. What do you, as a local estate agent think of Foxtons and will it make you guys bring down your % more to compete?
