  1. I believe that a palm tree has been chosen to go on the roundabout but I haven't had it it confirmed.
  2. In which area of East Dulwich was it lost? What time? Colour (ok it's a mole so it's probably black, but who knows)? Do you have a picture to put up on this site?
  3. Buses are shit. At the weekend when I have to take public transport I usually get the train but every now and then I'll get persuaded by my girlfriend to give the bus another go. Last time, couple of women have an argument with each other about getting on and are oblivious that they're holding up the bus, then they decide not to get on so take off all their shopping and prams. Then the bus driver stops at the next stop because he's changing shift then we have for the drivers to chat and finish their fags before we move off. Then a couple of stops later someone gets on without paying so the driver turns off the engine, calls the police and sits in their cage saying nothing. A few of us have a go at the law breaking rascal for holding up the bus and eventually he reluctantly goes down and swipes his card. If you're ever on the bus and you hear someone mumbling "I fuc*ing hate buses" it maybe me. Sorry, it was on the 176 so slightly off topic, but if you're going into town I recommend you get the train to London Bridge then cross the platform and get the train to Charing Cross. Can't use your pre-pay card but that's another story. oh, I always say thanks to the driver ("cheers drive") at the end of a bus journey unless they've been a complete nob. [edited once]
  4. Just remembered I signed up to Ticket busters a while a go (www.ticketbusters.co.uk). It's ?9.99 and it gives you access to a website that tells you the rules and regulations for parking and what constitutes grounds for appeal. Goose, in your case something like this could be helpful: "if the single yellow line is barely visible or badly broken, you have good grounds for appeal. Please also note that single yellow lines must end with a bar at right angles to the line (unless it adjoins a double yellow line or parking bay etc). If this is missing, you could have a very strong case for an appeal." I used information on it to successfully appeal a ticket, I drove off before the ticket was handed to me or placed on the car, the "it's too late I've started writing the ticket" line that traffic wardens give is rubbish. Just re-read that and it sounds like I'm connected to them, I'm not, I have just benefited from the site before.
  5. I agree with *bob*. Sit outside the Bishop for half an hour and just see how many people stop outside the newsagent opposite just to get a packet of fags, or pop in the deli to get a slice of parma, or go see the Nissans and vans stopped on Grove Vale, all oblivious to the fact they're being a right pain in the arse to others. As Jacques 'Jacques' Liverot said "When I drive my car, I am not driving. I am participating in a conspiracy called 'traffic'"
  6. Orbital ? Belfast (the full 12" version, not just that 29 second clip)
  7. Petitou on Choumert Road, been there thrice and it's never been open. OK, it may have been a Sunday or Saturday but it was definitely closed. Went to Jacks once too and it was open, seem to remember paying lots for scrambled eggs on toast but we could sit outside and it's quite (traffic) quiet. Back on topic, who's going to run the park caf? then? Any ideas?
  8. The Blackle thing is a clever ruse. The site is not by Google and the person who set it up now has billlions and billions of people using his site. He also gets a commission is a search turns to a sponsored click. Good work soon to be rich Blackle man.
  9. King Cnut (commonly and mistakenly spelled Canute) had a son, his name was Hardacnut. Good names for Viking kings if you ask me.
  10. or maybe just people who feel there is unfair ticketing going on will contact TV Researcher. I got a note through my letter box about this yesterday, it's the BBC chasing up the large amount of complaints about unfair ticketing in the area, or something like that.
  11. I went into the Silvester Road sorting office recently to collect a parcel and when I was in there this lady came in, placed a large bundle of letters and undelivered mail on the counter, said "I found these in the street" and walked out shaking her head. I did frequently get letters through my door meant for next door but I think they've now employed literate postmen as it seems to have improved, although it could be the case that the letters aren't actually being delivered at all .

  13. I think a scratch of an earlobe should do it. You see someone you think they might go on the forum, look at them and scratch your ear, simple. No need for dubious nods, winks or spazmodic movements that could get you punched for being weird. As to what the reply could be, I don't know, a smile perhaps?
  14. "People had a habit of launching themselves on and off the Route master." I believe some call it natural selection
  15. I believe an actress is the owner of Mrs Boo on Northcross road, not sure who though
  16. It'll be one year old on 18th September. There were a few posts before then but it was officially launched on 18th September 2006. Time to start thinking about a birthday party I guess, the 18th is a Tuesday so how about the following weekend 22/23 September? Lets try and get sponsorship and free drinks and things, I know there's quite a few business who have done well from the forum so we should ask them to chip in a bob or hundred...
  17. I mean no. Ask your other question message via a PM
  18. Ladies and Gentlemen, something rather apt for a Tuesday evening, I give you the organ master himself Klaus Wunderlich when he changes that tempo, you just have to dance baby!
  19. ChavWivaLawDegree - yep, that was me *Bob* - yes, I find virtual drinks don't touch the sides Right, I'm going to hand back the reins of authority back to The Administrator, I've got to go and slay some kittens.
  20. Thanks UC, those 18 wheeler prams eh! > "But I suppose you can't spill such beans, can you?" I can't I'm afraid although the stories may slip out after you've bought me a drink or two
  21. same with my scooter, no punctures for ages then 3 in a month, in my case its the same as jim_the_chin's reason, because the rain washes all the crap (including screws and nails) into the edges of the road. On a bike you tend to go on the areas that cars don't as much (e.g close to the edge of traffic islands, around the base of traffic lights) where this flotsam tends to hang out.
  22. Ultraconsultancy We don't like censoring posts but you're forcing us to censor yours as they put the forum in a potentially legal predicament, then, when we do, you accuse us of improper censorship. We can't win in such argument so we ask you politely to not mention the alleged offence. I agree that what may have occurred was wrong, however what was said in the original implies that they broke the law and as the publisher of this information we can't allow that. Having had experience of libel threats, solicitors and police questioning over this forum please just take it from me that it's worth my while editing this one thread out out of the 2000+ threads live on this site. Thanks [edited once]
  23. Ultraconsultancy The point is that the shop was accused of doing something illegal and the forum has no proof for that so it has to be removed. Ibo should report the incident to the correct authorities, not on a public forum. Imagine if someone disclosed who you were on this forum and said you were a thief, would you expect it to stay up? There are laws in this country that have to be abided to, please don't have a go at me for following them. "But you're in charge, so no fingers to be pointed at local shops." Why say a comment like that when we're following the law? You know people are allowed to point fingers at local shops, you have been using the forum long enough to know that, it's just that if someone says a company has broken the law they have to be careful what they say. Mark
  24. Have a read of this thread Charlie, basically people thought the same as you, then Kate (one of the owners) came on the forum and answered the critics including addressing the rude staff issue. It's now a great place, highly recommended.
