When I moved into my flat we were paying ?2,500 a year (shared between 4 flats) because we had had subsidence, even though it was underpinned. But thrifty me looked around and after showing the Structural Engineers Report we now pay ?650 (shared between 4 flats). The person I used was: John Cran ACII Director Flats Direct Commercial & General Insurance Services Ltd Authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Our FSA Register Number is 312649. Tel: 01202 862662 I hope that helps

hmmm, could it be a contender for EDF drinks in August? (I believe there's talk of the next one being at the FHT)

rob, I'm not sure if your saying that louisa is a person created by this forum (she's not) but before the site gets a complaint and has to remove your post do you actually know that he/she/it is 31 year old Roland etc etc..?

Working definition of "incomer" (to East Dulwich)
Mark replied to macroban's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dulwich_ Park_ Fairy said: "The only incomers welcome in East Dulwich are low-incomers who went to secondary school here." but they're not incomers if they went to school here, I'm confused. Are we talking in-comers (people who have come in from toutside East Dulwich) or incomers (people who have an income)? -
There's a Tescos Express

I'm with Keef on this, classes are for school and should stay there. Bringing class into an argument as a badge of honour e.g. "pushing us working classes out" is silly.

child snatch attempt: UPDATE suspect taken into custody
Mark replied to Asset's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks for that Asset, is there any more info you can give like time, place, descriptions etc? -
When I moved to London 8 years ago I bought a scooter and have never regretted it, I have a full bike license and would highly recommend getting a scooter in London. It makes going to work fun, it takes me 20 minutes to get to Clerkenwell and Victoria, and 30 minutes to Hammersmith. It stops you drinking after work, means you can have a nice ride out to places like Greenwich, Hampstead etc on sunny days and there is generally a good camaraderie(?) with other 2 wheeled users. It also gets you off the dire public transport system we have in London (?4 for a single tube journey!). There is the extra cost of a helmet, decent lock, insurance, clothing etc but I got my bike new from Metropolis and they gave me a really good deal (had to haggle like f*ck but it was worth it). It reminds me of a Suzuki TV advert from the early eighties which simply said "Free with every motorcycle, you" ED to Old St, as SGP says, 25 minutes average

hmmm, not that we're aware of but it maybe. Can you tell us: What words you are searching on? Which search box, Messages (on the left) or Authors? What browser are you using? thanks

Louisa, don't accuse others of wrong doing just because they disagree with you. I like Le Moulin

Foxtons are coming - Fact (ED housing market)
Mark replied to DiscoDex's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've taken them down myself too in the past but if you do and the wall/post/thing it's attached to is damaged then you'll get done for criminal damage. Best get the estate agent's people to do it. I've just asked for the one next door to me to be removed, let's see how long they* take to remove it. * Their name will be revealed when it's removed -
Foxtons are coming - Fact (ED housing market)

MadWorld74 said: "the property management company... keeps insisting on putting up their 'managed by' boards outside our flat" There is a company that rates Estate Agents by the number of Sold/Let by signs in an area so it's in their interest to keep these pesky signs up (as well as it being free advertising for them). If a sign's been up for more than 14 days tell the agent to take it down, you don't have to say who you are, just call them and say it's been up for more than 2 weeks and they have to take it down. They'll probably say their board removal people will be round in the next week to remove it but it sometimes gets "overlooked". If they don't take it down tell them about The Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992, read down to: Class 3 Miscellaneous temporary advertisements Description. 3A. An advertisement relating to the sale or letting... Conditions and Limitations. 3A. (2) No advertisement may be displayed indicating that land or premises have been sold or let, other than by the addition to an existing advertisement of a statement that a sale or letting has been agreed, or that the land or premises have been sold or let, subject to contract. (3) Any such advertisement shall be removed within 14 days after the sale is completed or a tenancy is granted. I heartily encourage everyone to ring the number on these signs and request that they be removed. Good luck and let us know how you get on -
A further Google search on JennyUK and nappies shows this person posts to loads of forums promoting the nappies. If you spot something like this please do click on the "Report this Message" link (shown beneath each message) and the Administrator will deal with it as soon as possible.

6 Lordship Lane (& other shop planning applications)
Mark replied to Nero's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Nice one for the link macroban I can't see the Class A3 (restaurants/cafes) going through as theres a limit on them in the area, the basis behind the Cafe Nero fiasco. -
Thanks for letting us know, we don't know about a lot of these problems unless we're told, and I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused Please could you try and answer any of these: Where do you mean exactly when you say the main forum? Do you know what time it was? Roughly? What happens when you try and post? Do you get an error message? How are you trying to post? Are you clicking the reply button or are you filling in the box at the bottom of the page? Are you pressing post message and nothing happens? Are there no buttons that allow you to post? Is the word special-ised (without the -) in your post? The more details the better then I can get someone to look into it Once again thanks and sorry [edited once]

Just got the call that my tents been put up (between the healing field and the park next to a teepee) by my exceptionally nice mate. Now I just have to wait until I get there in the early hours of Friday morning...

I like le Moulin too. We went there again on my birthday a couple of weeks ago and it's great. There's a thread about it here.

You moved here from Putney 3 years ago Brendan and already you're wanting to change the name of the place to avoid poncey tw*ts from Fulham. Blimey, let's put a moat around East Dulwich out and keep out all undesirables. Sorry, I don't understand your last paragraph. Why would walking down the high street become "like scratching bloodied fingernails down a rusty blackboard"? Please don't anyone mention buggies or class

I've resorted to getting mum to dig out my old wellies and post them to me.
-
not sure, personally I'd prefer to whip an estate agent with a twisted, wet tea towel but I can't speak for the masses

Harris Academy (new boys school for East Dulwich)
Mark replied to macroban's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just to help you put the size of this intended new school into proportion: http://www.edge-campaign.co.uk/images/new_vs_old.jpg http://www.edge-campaign.co.uk -
Apologies Asset, I thought you were referring to my "I don't speak English" jibe. Time Out did a map once on how to walk down Oxford Street and where to cross to avoid the chuggers. And in the brief TV series Shoreditch Tw*t I believe there was a self appointed vigilante sniper who picked out chuggers in his quest to rid the streets of vermin. I get the impression they're just not very popular.

Dulwich Community Council has made an award to provide a new centrepiece for the roundabout. There is a questionnaire attached to this posting with which you can let your thoughts be known on their suggestions. You can also pick one up in Healthmatters*, 47 Lordship Lane. Please note these must be returned to the council by 22 JUNE which is only a couple of days away. *they also sell East Dulwich postcards
