  1. Hi sakwhita, have a look at this thread about trains to Farringdon. For that I've found he best way was 8:21 train to Tulse Hill, then train to Farringdon that gets in about 8:50 (stops at Blackfriars on the way)
  2. Sorry, due to a technical issue outside our control the Forum was unavailable this morning (Saturday). But it's back now and the sun's out so all's good again.
  3. Hi I've asked The Administrator to clean up some of the posts, especially to make sure they're in the right section i.e. if a topic is not East Dulwich specific it will be moved to the Lounge. I'm also compiling a list of forum etiquette to inform people about the proper way to use the forum, it's over here and I'd like to hear your suggestions... thanks Mark
  4. I'd say it's too far out for EDF drinks, but then again I don't organise them.
  5. As prompted by a couple of users including all_star (and The Administrator who is overworked) I am creating a list of rules/suggested etiquette for users of the forum which I'll put up in a week or so. Something like: * Be courteous to other forum members. * Before creating a new topic thread, search to see if a similar topic already exists. * Follow standard grammar and spelling rules. * Try to post in the correct section. * Stay on-topic. * Avoid posting the same topic in different sections. * Respond to topics started by others more often than starting your own. * Don't resurrect a very old topic if nothing significant will be added. * Be objective - think before you post. * Make the title descriptive e.g. don't say "Looking for a..." or "Builders", say "reliable plasterer wanted" instead. * Do not overuse capital letters in the subject or body of the message. If the above are not followed then The Administrator may amend/move/remove the post, sometimes without warning. What do you think? Is there anything else that frequently annoys you, as a forum user, that would benefit from being listed on here? Either post a message below or send me a PM.
  6. A nice reply from Mel at the hotel: Thank you for your email and interest. We would love to have the east dulwich forum on board, and of course the local community of East dulwich. We have already had some bookings from a couple who are getting married from east dulwich who are actually spending their wedding night with us. We have offered them and their guests a 5 percent discount. We would be happy to offer this discount to the east dulwich forum. I hope that is acceptable. We have tried to price ourselves as competitively as possible in the boutique hotel market. We also dont have any stealth taxes as our prices are inc vat and includes organic breakfast which received 10/10 from the times. We also want to promote the art scene in the area which we beleive makes the area so unique and have already got exhibitions planned. I like to think of Camberwell as our version of Venice Beach or down town LA. Thats kinda where our inspiration came from Spanish Americana. Also if there are any artists on your site who would like to meet it would be a pleasure, we have alot of hanging space. Also please let the forum know if they need to view the hotel we would be more than happy to show people around. Thankyou for the invite to the blog. Kind Regards Mel Raido The Church St Hotel So if people need somewhere to stay in the area they should give the hotel a try (and let us know what it's like) If you're an artist and would like to show your work, drop them a line If you're just nosey and want to have a look at the place, mention the forum and they'll show you around
  7. yeah, Sema's just being done up
  8. I'm reading my birthday cards :)
  9. > any news on the discount... I sent them an email earlier, I'll keep you posted...
  10. how do you lounge am immature poster?
  11. Muschamp Road is here
  12. Looks great, I wonder if they could do discounts for people from the East Dulwich Forum website, I recall there's a few people on who use this site who are getting married in the area soon so it could be the perfect place for their guests to stay.
  13. does this place have a website?

    Big Brother

The Welsh girl says she like to cook, but pronounces cook like cock so it sounds like she says she likes cock. Jezus I've been reduced to a typical Big Brother viewer in 4.5 minutes, damn you Ant.

    Big Brother

nah (but ask again a week before the end)
  17. I'm afraid I can't be there as it's the day after my birthday and I'm being taken out somewhere. Have a great time. ps I might ask Mr Admin to move this thread to the What's on section, hope that's ok
  18. It's a good idea all_star, when I get time I'll put that list up somewhere and perhaps attach it to the registration email that goes out as you suggest. I've always tried to stay away from rules but I think the time has come for some "guidance" such as the list you mention, it's short enough for people to read and not just ignore. thanks for the suggestion

    gay girlies

Whoever gets there first says to the people behind the bar "if anyone asks for the forum crowd point them over towards me", then if you're new you just ask behind the bar where the forum crowd are. Brilliant in it's simplicity. Here's the thread about the next EDF drinks
  23. it's Le Moulin, you can read about it on this thread here I like it.
  24. Hi mattindulwich18, I hope this thread has answered your question. What might happen next is that as the thread has gone off topic and is getting "chatty" so The Administrator may step in and move it to the Lounge area, you may have seen the word "Lounged" mentioned elsewhere on the site. It usually happens when someone drops into a thread something along the lines that East Dulwich was better 100 years/10 years/1 year ago when there were no babies (and accompanying prams) around, everyone was poor but incredibly happy, the pubs were just perfect, all the shops were open and selling only things you needed and people in Clapham stayed in Clapham. There's also a few who just drop something like the aforementioned into conversation just to wind people up. Sorry, gone off topic haven't I :-$
  25. Has anyone read today's (Tuesday's) South London Press? I believe there's an interesting article on page 12&13, could someone please confirm it as I'm not Saaaf of the river at the moment?
