East Dulwich Forum Real people's virtual lives All typed out daily ;-)
  3. ok, so I did the 07:21 East Dulwich > Tulse Hill -> Farringdon route this morning and it was fine, into work (first full day at new job) at 8:10. Thanks Huguenot. Returned via the 63 to the Rye as it didn't involve any changing of transport. That was fine too (can't wait to get back on the scooter tomorrow though).
  4. Thanks, people seemed to like them at the fair and they always smile when they look at them (usually in bewilderment that the train station's on there). There might be other ones depending on how these ones go, I'll post on here if there is a next time asking for picture submissions.
  5. What the best/quickest/least disturbing journey for me to get to from East Dulwich to Farringdon/Clerkenwell road to be there at around 8:15 am? 37 bus to Herne Hill then train? Denmark Hill train to Blackfriars then to Farringdon? 63 Bus from Peckham Rye to Farringdon? Is it also the best route if I want to be there at 9am? thanks

    wtf?

re. Big Bruvva, that'll be the Administrator or "Mr Admin", he's alright just think of him as the strict yet friendly janitor who keeps this place tidy.
  8. AnotherPaul said: > er, Mark, does that mean they now know where you live? nope, I gave them your address ;-)
  9. nah, they're still going for it. There was a delay for some reason which meant the White Stuff shop fitters missed their slot to work on it so had to go off to another job. Back in August I think. Hopefully the Estate agent who is in charge of the property will get it tidied up in the meantime, I've written to them twice about it but nothing has been done.
  10. Foxtons on the corner between the Bishop and the Sea Cow
  11. yeah, just thought it would be good to get a balanced opinion. The Scientologists have set up website after last night http://www.bbcpanorama-exposed.org/, where you can request a their DVD about the programme. I've ordered one, perhaps we could show it at a Dulwich Paradiso film evening...
  12. hang on, we're not sure if they're the same bag, the ?15 ones said I Love SE22 (I believe). Is that what the ?2.50 ones say?
  13. May I suggest Hoopers for the venue the following month, I'm sure Jimmy and Viv wouldn't mind 30 or 40 people descending on their pub.
  14. So going back to the original question "Are there any scientologists in our midst?" Are there any out there that would like to give us their view of last night's programme? I would be interested to know if they feel embarrassed by last night's programme and whether it was a true representation of Scientology's attitude towards people who question them.
  15. I'm not a Scientologist but I do tend to consider myself a Pastafarian (and I know there are a few others on this forum). If anyone out there is feeling like there is a gap in their life I would recommend looking into the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. It has all the traits of a religion e.g. omnipresent being, follows a recently scribed book etc etc but I feel it trumps others because, according to its gospel, heaven has a volcano of beer and a stripper factory. In my book that beats eternal damnation/hanging around on a cloud all day.

    wtf?

  17. Do want some pictures of East Dulwich on your fridge? Want to enter a Blue Peter competition*? Want to support the forum and get something material for your contribution? Want to send your friends in Mauritius or Clapham something to make them jealous? Want to tell someone you really love them? Well now you can (with extra style and panache) on an East Dulwich postcard... The kind people at Healthmatters at 47 Lordship Lane (sort of opposite Somerfield) now have some of these special East Dulwich postcards in stock. You can buy them for 25p each or 5 for ?1. Also, whilst stocks last, you get a free postcard with every purchase in store. Healthmatters is open until 6:30 weekdays so you can get your 5 postcards on your way home from work. * Answers on the back of a postcard
  18. there's discussion about it on this thread, there's even a post from Viv, the landlord's partner
  19. Here they are capturing the renaissance and esoteric beauty that is East Dulwich: Available at a Lordship Lane shop soon (hopefully in the next couple of days)
  20. Thanks everyone who turned up, yes it was wet but we were between the beer tent and the chilli stall and in a nice big tent so everyone was happy and dry(ish). Big thank you to my lovely assistant who helped all weekend and made it possible. Nice one to Elusive Wax who were opposites providing the good tunes and thanks to the organisers, Felicity and Angela for sorting it all out. I'm going to stop there as it's getting like an Oscar speech. It was great to meet people who enjoy this site and find it beneficial, it was also good to meet people who find it annoying but I have to admit I prefer meeting the former. If you didn't make it on Sunday and have any comments or suggestions about the site please do let us know, either send me a Private Message or click the 'Email the Forum' link at the bottom of every page. There are some of the classic East Dulwich postcards left over, I'm going to try and get them into a local shop where they will be available (with a discount if you mention the forum), I'll post a new thread when that happens.
  21. don't be lightweights, we have a tent and we're next to the beer tent come on down
  22. Yes it is I suppose. What would you suggest as an alternative and how would you implement it taking into consideration the various constraints there are on the forum?
  23. ok, end of day on a Friday, slightly bored and curious so I phoned Southern Trains 08451 27 29 20 If the station is unmanned and the the ticket machine is out of order then you can buy your ticket at your final destination. If a "Revenue Protection Officer" asks to see your ticket, tell them about the station and the machine and they have to let you carry on to your destination. That's what he said. jim_the_chin, go appeal against your fine.
