  1. I don't think any members have given out their address on the forum though but it's worth bearing in mind. (it's more about member's security than Forum Security so I'm asking the Admin to change the title to Forum member's security or similar)
  2. "you're only a f*****g shop assistant" blimey, that's rather patronising.

bit of an HTML anomaly I'm afraid, it's probably that you've pressed the back button so the page doesn't know you've actually been to the previous page. That's a bad explanation, if you refresh the page it'll disappear. Top tip: If you click on the red NEW, it'll take you first of the newest messages in that thread
  4. So when I'm in your neighborhood, you better duck Coz Snorky is crazy as f*ck As I leave, believe I'm mega-rich but when I come back, boy, I'm comin straight outta Dulwich
  5. so where exactly do the uptown Boyz hang out? Is it Eastside Dulwich or WestSide Dulwich (or North or Village)?
  6. ... I also don't think the pavement's wide enough on Lordship Lane for the traffic that's now on it ... I don't like the fact there's no Welcome to East Dulwich sign/statue/statement (but I do like the fact that in the wider scope of things our dislikes are fairly small, we could be saying "..there's too many shootings in SE22" or " ... I don't like that leaking nuclear reactor up on the hill" or similar)
  7. Alan, you can get Bernard Matthews products in Somerfield and Sainsburys so you don't need to go to Peckham
  8. I second *Bob* about the bleating about prams (they're not all three wheeled). Why can't some people accept that people in cities have babies and need to move them around.
  9. So how was Mirash? Was Mr Ray nice?
  10. don't know about the FHT but best ask that in it's own thread please
  11. Umm, this is a thread about expressing your gripes about old versus new
  12. ... the cars who park round Grove Vale on the yellow lines and make it awkward for buses to pass, it seems like its a parking free for all round there ... cars that park on Lordship Lane outside Wates and Black Cherry just so they can pop into a shop/dry cleaners, it's a double yellow line for a reason. ... cars that park outside that 7-11 shop opposite the Bishop on LL, buses have to swing round there (especially awkward when mixed with the previous point) ... people who leave litter on Goose Green and around the area in general. Litter. Bin. Litter bin. Litter goes in the bin you thick tw*t. How hard can it be? ... empty shops and the predatory property magnate(s) that keep the commercial property prices high (I'll think of more when I have time) Apologies if these are not about modern East Dulwich per se but it would be good if they were confined to history
  13. yes, perhaps you could change the title to "things I dislike about modern East Dulwich"?
  14. I second you on that SeanMacGabhann, I admire it too and it shows the passion that the shop owners have in their business. I couldn't imagine the owner of Caffe Nero coming on here and addressing issues. [edited once]
  15. The Dulwich Paranormal Club, does such a thing really exist?
  16. May I suggest that it's on the Friday the 11th instead? It's just that I know some of you would like to help, if help be needed and going out the night before wouldn't help much. OK, put another way, I'm crap with a hangover and I'd like to enjoy the fair on the Sunday.
  17. I see on IMDB http://imdb.com/title/tt0964587/ that my neighbour Fenella is in it, I shall enquire forthwith whether they need extras
  18. I was always put off by the condensation on their menu out the front too but we tried it and we liked it (the restaurant not the condensation). I guess there's some people on the forum who go there regularly and perhaps they could mention to Eric and Margaret that a bit of a spring clean outside would make the place more appealing. Sometimes people don't see the obvious when everyone else does and I think that a gentle and polite nudge in the right direction would do them the world of good. [edited once]
  19. I know Surma's been there for 31 years, I expect Le Moulin's been there for at least 15 - 20
  20. perhaps someone could ask in the DIY store, they sound very helpful
  21. I have, although the food was average it's an experience and was overall great. Here's the post I wrote about it (from this thread) Le Moulin (up by the Plough/Library), we went there on Valentines day and it was great (not a heart shaped balloon in sight). It's a quiet, small French restaurant run by Margaret and Eric and it's a step back in time (about 20 years). Client?le was generally 50ish and regulars ("bottle of the usual white please Margaret"). Decor is pleasantly brown but it's very clean and they obviously look after the place. Food was OK, had a rack of lamb which was pleasant but the fact the protruding bones had those little, white, paper things on them that looked like small chef's hats made it more enjoyable. The lemon sorbet had a fanned out wafer in it like when you were a kid. It's not going to match other places for food but the experience was different and enjoyable. Like I said, there are regulars there and they're regular for a reason. It's a little gem of a place; we can't wait to take some visiting friends there for the experience. 2 of us x 3 courses + ?16 bottle of wine = ?46 + tip (it wasn't called a 'service charge' in the 80's) so no complaints there.
  22. the website for the flats is here: http://gv15.co.uk/main.html Quotes mention that the flats are located "in the heart of East Dulwich" and are "... the epitome of the urban ideal offering exclusive seclusion amidst the 24/7 buzz of the newly gentrified East Dulwich". Blimey! I'm not sure about the contact us page which says "reasons not to buy" then has pictures of the apartments, the Sea Cow, the Vale and the rusty old lamp post on Goose Green roundabout. Curious marketing.
  23. If there was a house price crash and my property went down to its original value should I be bothered? Other property prices would be reduced too so if I wanted to move then, if anything, I get something more for my money? Or am I talking cr*p? And when is a crash a crash? Do values have to drop a certain amount for it to be called a crash?
