  2. Hi Louisiana I've seen him too but I still don't know if he's the reason ROB DA BANK! has been written next to the desk in the Silvester Road sorting office, anyone know? It's been there for years

  4. Following from this thread I sent an email to Southern trains yesterday asking why there's a reduced service between 8 and 9 and if there's any plans to improve it. Here's the reply (for those who can't be bothered to read it, it says: blah, blah, blah maybe one day it'll improve) Thank you for your web comment. Your words regarding the fact that there are more off peak services running from East Dulwich than peak services are not lost on me. However, there are some wide-ranging planning and logistical issues to be overcome before we can arrive at a solution. You may be aware that, in September 2004, the former Strategic Rail Authority (SRA) published a Route Utilization Strategy for the Brighton Main Line (RUS) but, because train movements on Southern are so crucially inter-dependent upon one another, the RUS actually embraced the whole network. However, although the Department for Transport (DfT) has recently endorsed some of the key recommendations made in the RUS, airline interests have been lobbying hard against them because they included scrapping the Gatwick Express, and the Secretary of State has decided to seek further views on how things should be moved forward. Moreover, the DfT has also indicated that most of the London suburban ideas need further work, particularly in view of Transport for London's proposals for development of the East London Line to include services through to Croydon and Clapham Junction. Unfortunately, all of this has huge implications for what we can, therefore, get on with and thus how quickly we can implement change and address the sorts of issues you raise. However, one thing we can say is that when the East London line service is extended to West Croydon, the service will be in addition to that which we run so there will then be some significant additional capacity. You may find it useful to look at the DfT, Network Rail and TfL web-sites for additional background information but if I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to write to me using the link below. 5. I know the Administrator's thought a lot about this however it would lead to the issue that there would be a terms and conditions page, an FAQ page and a new reader page and people won't read all of them. We could make the "Read this first" prominent when you register but again we don't like putting hurdles in front of the registration process. As Ant said it will take a bit of updating but I think the onus could possibly be on the regulars to say "this has been discussed over here" rather than "tsk, not again" but then everyone's free to do what they want (within reason). So yes we may introduce a "read this first, it'll help" page if the need arises. Ooops, look like this thread's gone off topic. Has Coriander only got one "r" in it?

  7. Thanks for the heads-up alfie, I hope they return it to their former glory and don't fill it up with quick drying cement.

*hears the schoolboy-like giggling in the background and guesses it's Keef sniggering about DM entering the hottub in her bikini* *smiles as he remembers his sunglasses are really dark and allows eyes to look where ever they want without being caught* *smiles to DM and hands her a glass of Polly's finest whilst half expecting Keef to dive-bomb into the tub*
  9. Some friends of mine (who live in the East End) were burgled two months ago and yesterday they came back from a few days away in Spain to find out they've been burgled again by the same thieving gits. How do they know it was the same thieving gits? When the thieving gits broke in the first time they took one of the spare keys for the French window, as the key was on a bunch with other keys in a kitchen draw my friends didn't notice. The thieving gits then waited a couple of months i.e. time for the stolen things to be replaced, and then struck again. Not really a specific East Dulwich issue but just a word of warning that hopefully might stop this from happening to someone else.

*comes in to relax after being annoyed by the forum falling over* *walks behind folded japanese screen, walks out wearing orange double-breasted terrycloth bathrobe similar to the one Steve McQueen was wearing in The Thomas Crown Affair on TV last night* *picks up a glass of Polly's wine, nods in appreciation and slides into filled hot tub with added relaxing bath oils*
  11. How about a Forum Sunday lunch?
  12. > Also, has anyone had their credit card cloned in ED recently? not in the last month, I blame it on the chain stores oh yes, had a Coriander once but it was very greasy
  13. Have they put up a secion 6 notice on the front door? There's implications if they have or haven't... Where is the property?
  14. Telling people they're planet destroyers, destroying other countries, idle slackers who don't care about the environment does not achieve the desired effect on it's own. Whereas if B&Q, Homebase, Dulwich DiY etc said to people "have you considered an energy saving bulb instead" that would be better, perhaps incentivise it with a low, low price. Where I currently work it was brought it up at a staff meeting and now all lights, printers, monitors, phone chargers are turned off (at the end of the day). I'm going to send an email today to our councillors asking if we can have white sodium lights in East Dulwich as they use up 30% less energy (here's an interesting article Lighting the key to energy saving. Oh and I'm going to watch An Inconvenient Truth, in fact does anyone have access to a screening room where we can get together to watch it?
  15. sorry, The Administrator and I were having some issues this morning and we got our wires crossed :-$ It was meant to be in this thread
  16. I'm curious as to where it is exactly, here's a photo of the area with the sorting office pointed out http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Silvester+Rd,+London,+Greater+London,+SE22&sll=53.098145,-2.443696&sspn=7.895192,20.324707&layer=&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=18&ll=51.454301,-0.072044&spn=0.001999,0.006722&t=h is it the building with the turquoise tarpaulins to the right?
  17. Yes, me and mrs me popped in and indeed had a glass of champagne and a chocolate (dark chocolated coated praline). We didn't buy anything but there are some nice things in there for the lay-deez
  18. I've just sent Southern an email asking why there's a reduced service between 8 and 9 and if there's any plans to improve it. Fiver says I don't hear back.
  19. I'm with AcedOut on this one look here at the timetable London Bridge 12:06 London Bridge 12:16 London Bridge 12:26 London Bridge 12:36 London Bridge 12:46 London Bridge 12:56 London Bridge 13:06 ... (I'm not saying they actually go at those times)
  20. I bought energy saving bulbs but as Parker's Folly said they don't work with dimmers which renders them useless in two of my rooms. Something that annoys me is when you see Canary Wharf (and other offices) on a Saturday night with thousands of lights on. There are not thousands of people working at that time so why don't they turn the lights off? Makes me feel that my energy saving efforts are even more insignificant.
  21. I knew it was some sort of council office but I believe it's been owned by Foxtons for a while. I hope they don't take up too many parking spaces with their Minis.
  22. we drew 0-0 :(
  23. yep 'fraid so, the building on the opposite corner to the Bishop. It's currently an all brick wall so they need to do some work to put some windows in. They intend to be by June. Brings a tear to the eye.
