  1. it seems to be blue if you have clicked new, visited the page, and then pressed the back button. Pressing the back button doesn't refresh/reload the previous page. Refresh the page and the news disappear.
  2. You can perform an author search on the search page e.g. mockney piers. But to try and make lief a little easier for you, I shall see if I can make a link on user's profile page that says "view all post by *username* which will perform this search when clicked. OK, managed it. When you look at someone's profile you'll see a link to 'view all posts by *username*, click it and guess what you see? Try it on the profile of Mockney Piers [edited once]
  3. Yes, it's the 5th of March and so I called the gym to check that it's open as they said it would be. And it's not, the pool's open, but the gym's not. They say it'll be open on Wednesday. That means it's been closed for seven whole weeks, I do hope they haven't taken money out of my account for that seven weeks worth of gym membership.
  4. Bawdy Nan, I'm no legal expert but I have only ever used one filling station in East Dulwich so I don't understand how stating which one it is counts as libel when, as Huguenot says, it is fact. And I have to say I respect the Administrator's decision to remove the fuel company's name as I'm sure it's better to be safe than sorry (even to suggest what their name is). By the way, if anyone goes to that Mexican restaurant I suggest that you don't give their dish called Tex a go, your money's better spent elsewhere apparently.
  5. might pop down the Drum tonight if anyone's around...
  6. Northcross Road, perhaps one of our roving reporters could pop out and take a photo of it for you...
  7. Congratulations Quaywe, I know that you and Angela (SE22 magazine) and others had fought hard for a result against Caffe Nero. What are they to do next then? Change into a takeaway only?
  8. ahhh but what if the *fuel supplier's name removed* Fella said yes? Then there would be trouble
  9. I see Charlotte Church's up the duff
  10. Polly, I did ask Kate about a recommendation for you but I've completely forgotten what her answer was. Sorry. I recevied an email from Kate today saying that she enjoyed meeting interested locals and what fine members of society we all were*. She apologised for... in fact why am I typing this, she can tell you herself And a thank you from me for a good night with good wine and good company, perhaps we'll take her up on her offer in a month or so and have another one Mark *I made the "fine members of society" bit up
  11. errr, wrong thread, I think it was meant to go in this one
  12. apparently, you forgot to say apparently (or allegedly) after every sentance as nothing's been proven. Yet.
  13. Mockney piers, as you have seen fit to ask Huguenot out on a lunch date within this thread, go to the *fuel supplier's name removed* garage and say to the assistant "selam" and see if he reacts. Or say "I'm looking for Centre for Egyptian studies at Dulwich College" and see if he reacts. Or just ask him if has scamming mates in Egypt. Your choice just as long as we have full report on this forum on your return.
  14. > So who came to the conclusion that it may be a particular garage? I did for one, you mentioned a petrol station in ED might be swiping cards, I've had my card swiped and the only garage I've used in ED is the *fuel supplier's name removed* one. Damn, have we've hung the wrong man? [edited once]
  15. We don't know for definite that it's someone the *fuel supplier's name removed* filling station that is swiping cards. I've emailed the police through their Fraud Alert section, told the company that there might be someone swiping cards at one of their branches, told my bank's fraud department and couldn't get through to the FBI. Bank said it's a matter for the police so I could report it to them if I wanted but they have a lot to deal with. I haven't heard from the police. The company have just come back saying: "Thank you for your email. Unfortunately this type of card fraud is on the increase. I would recommend that you contact your Bank immediately and advise them of the activity on your account. This will ensure that the Bank are aware of the problem, your account is secured and the possiblity of the Bank reimbursing your account for any monies lost. All *fuel supplier's name removed* Service Stations are now leased to independant Retailers, therefore we have no jurisdiction over the way the business is run or the recruitment and training of staff. Our Retail name remains on the forecourt, to show customers the brand of fuel they are purchasing. Although we cannot intervene directly, I will forward your concerns onto our Retail Area Sales Representative who will discuss the matter with the Retailer. Thank you for brining this matter to your attention...." Vigilante sting operation anyone? First thing some has to do is find out which of the cashiers in there has connections to Egypt, then stake them out, then catch them in action, then place them in stocks or gibbet on the Goose Green roundabout. Might work as a deterrent, might not but it would be satisfying and fill the void on the roundabout temporarily.
  16. Hi Mike I posted the following about Le Moulin recently but it was buried deep in a thread somewhere so I'll post it again: Le Moulin (up by the Plough/Library), we went there on Valentines day and it was great (not a heart shaped balloon in sight). It's a quiet, small French restaurant run by Margret and Eric and it's a step back in time (about 20 years). Clientele was generally 50ish and regulars ("bottle of the usual white please Margret"). Decor is pleasantly brown but it's very clean and they obviously look after the place. Food was OK, had a rack of lamb which was pleasant but the fact the protruding bones had those little, white, paper things on them that looked like small chef's hats made it more enjoyable. The lemon sorbet had a fanned out wafer in it like when you were a kid. It's not going to match other places for food but the experience was different and enjoyable. Like I said, there are regulars there and they're regular for a reason. It's a little gem of a place; we can't wait to take some visiting friends there for the experience. 2 of us x 3 courses + ?16 bottle of wine = ?40 + tip (it wasn't called a 'service charge' in the 80's) so no complaints there.
  17. hmmm, I do use the [Removed by the Administrator] petrol station , does anyone else with the Egypt connection use it?
  18. thanks mockney but I was looking forward to reading the incredibly well-written and informative piece about Mix CDs that was in in the music section.
  19. 16th or 23rd would be better. I'd also like to use that night (as well as being a celebration) to get feedback from people about this site so the more people there the better.
  20. Huguenot and Mockney, you like words and stuff, any ideas: 1 down enmark? Rest Here (3,4,2,3) T-e ---d -f -- (Sorry rob, missed it. Is it on the t'internet anywhere so we can see it?)
  21. Jeremy, I'll try and get a list to you by PM probably after the weekend. My bank said it's would have been swiped within the last 2 months so I'll have to be a damn good think which may take some time (as I don't usually keep my card receipts).
  22. My bank just contacted me to say someone's tried to withdraw money in Egypt in the last few days using my Switch card but because they didn't know my PIN it didn't work. I like to think I'd recognise a cash machine that's been tampered with or I'd notice if someone tried to swipe it (I've watched The Real Hustle you know), but I obviously didn't. Fortunately I do cover my hand when I'm typing in the PIN which is why they didn't get away with it. Sorry, not a very interesting post but I just thought I'd share that with you. En guard.
  23. mightyroar, which words are you stuck on? Can you post the clues on here...
  24. good work Huguenot, I hope they get it back up and running soon.
  25. .. is it still on fire? And pictures, we want pictures...
