  1. > What's to stop you going up to Forest Hill pool at that time, or any other pool for that matter? It's harder to get to Forest Hill or any other than it is to go to the pool in East Dulwich. And if someone's paid a membership to use a pool it's make sense for them to use that pool rather than have to use another where they would have to pay again.
  2. What area are they in so I can put on a long mac, shades and a hat and walk around suspiciously? But seriously, how do you know they're the po-lice?
  3. Check me, I was outside the Bishop yesterday without sunglasses.
  4. Cut to scene outside the multi-national coffee shop Caffe Costabucks where, after a coded telephone warning from the East Dulwich People's Liberation Front, the police are evacuating the area as a suspicious package has been found. Zoom in to face in the crown and a man in an All Blacks top smiling to himself as he waits for the bomb squad to do a controlled explosion on his tactically placed tub of marzipan. Meanwhile a couple are sitting on a bench in Goose Green having a heated discussion...
  5. >Is there something sacred and special about this night above the others that means our local chaps feel the urge to run to expanses of water? not really, just a convenient night for me although there is a self help group being set up to help all the "Men obsessed with swimming on a Thursday evening in East Dulwich but can't" (MOWSOATEIEDBC for short). I agree that it should be staffed appropriately at a women only session, it does seem a bit daft to have a man there although if a female lifeguard wasn't available I assume it's better to have a male lifeguard there than none at all or call off the session. Anyway, I hear the Women's Institute is now allowing men to join which is nice.
  6. *smug grin* that only took an hour :)
  7. so, who else is up on a Sunday morning trying to get tickets?

    Quiet room...

*hands drum_saturdaygirl a class of Dave and Sam's finest wine* *looks over tonight's landscape which is a sunset over the pacific islands* *chinks glasses with drum_saturdaygirl and welcomes her to the quiet room* *relaxes in big comfy sofa*
  9. Congratulations Mockney, your post at 4:40PM was the 10,000th post on the Forum. I hope you feel proud of yourself. it's 123 for 4
  10. I'd definitely recommend it, I got rid of my tank and now have more space in the kitchen and have replaced it with a combi-boiler which is hiden away nicely in a kitchen cupboard.
  11. Hi Louisiana, try giving Marbuild a go, they're on the list of recommended business on this site and I know there has been about six independent recommendations for them.
  12. oh, what does it say? Has the forum killed someone?
  13. > There's nothing wrong with not understanding something or not being interested in it but neither is it something to crow about. >I 've often regretted not knowing more about the big little man. 'nuff said
  14. There are some things that I don't want to understand either, especially when life's too short to understand everything and especially when I can get advice from trusted experts. Don't get me wrong, I have a thirst for knowledge but my time's better spent on other things. Anyway back to House Prices, shift up over *Bob* and cookie I wanna watch this one too...
  15. jim_the_chin, someone's posted a 4 bed, 2 bathroom house for sale on the forum earlier today, you can see it here
  16. it is odd that they have continued to trade even though they're not allowed to, or have they appealed and are allowed to trade until that goes through?
  17. I think a lot of it depends if you see a house as a home or an investment. I think it's unfortunate that a basic human need (a home) has got such a high financial value on it especially for first time buyers but it's a fact of modern British life and I accept it.
  18. I did, I bought a home for me to live in and I think that's one reason I like East Dulwich so much is that it's not an "investment stop-over" for me. But this is about Peckham Rye, I like it too, I like playing football on there and just walking around it. If the name Peckham Rye keeps people away then I'm quite happy that people who are put off because of a park's name stay away. Makes it less busy.
  19. I looked on my non-recyclable carton of milk tonight and is said look at http://www.recyclenow.com for information, so I did. There's a link to the London section http://recycleforlondon.com/index.cfm which is a website whose main heading is "Send someone special a Valentine e-card" and "Top tips for 'green-romancing' on St Valentine's Day". Hmmm, wasn't that six weeks ago? And I look at "How to recycle plastic?" part of the answer is "Find out the type of plastic that can be recycled in your local area." What?! I'm looking at a website for London about recycling, why doesn't it tell me? Where do I find out? Why can't it have a link to here on it somewhere?
  20. pictures, we want pictures. And please can you make a big sign mentioning the forum and casually hang it in the background so it gets seen on telly.
  21. Could someone answer these for me: Do any shops take back their non-recyclable packaging and will they do something decent with it if you do? Why do lots of breakfast cereals (as an example) still come in boxes and bags? I mean, pasta comes in a nice bag. What's a good thing for me to do with all those supermarket bags I have (aside from re-use them at the supermarket)? Why don't more things have refills available e.g. my jar of instant coffee? I'd quite happily by a sealed-bag of Kenco roast, I don't need another jar.
  22. where are they exactly?
  23. did he know about the alternatives?
  24. We're going to Sarejevo at the end of April, any top tips warmly appreciated (especially where to stay)
  25. I hear Battersea's getting a tube (or was it Brixton?)
