  1. Do report it to the police, it's the only way they'll know there's a problem, it can be a pain in the arse and you'll probably think they've only taken a pound, it's not worth it but you should report it anyway.
  2. Imagine you're a shop keeper and you come onto this website and read someone saying your business has broken the law. This is what happened and thus puts the East Dulwich Forum into dodgy waters as it is then the publisher of potentially libellous material, we have to err on the side of caution here. Sorry to those who have contributed to the thread but I hope you understand why The Administrator has removed it. Mark
  3. Good endorsement of the seacow I say. It's been mentioned/discussed on the forum today over here.
  4. x-ray vision *snigger*
  5. now it appears on the left for aesthetic reasons (thanks MP), but I'm not sure why it definitely doesn't work properly, probably because it's special...
  6. We're glad that the the Administrator's intervention has made this an unlikely spurios [sic] campaign. For the record Admin is instructed to remove "chatty" posts on serious threads sometimes however the people who posted them are made aware of it, in this case it was two posts discussing "long time no see" about another user of the forum. When's the write up about SNUB in the South London Press? [edited once] apologies if it was a little strong
  7. it shifts the search box to the left and the "you have new private messages" is aligned to the right of it, in Firefox and Explorer.
  8. dunno, let's see
  9. nope, just put it in. Hopefully it'll encourage people to perform a search on the site before posting something that may have been discussed/recommended before. We shall see...
  10. Should we all be going to coffee shops with our own mugs now/stop using bin bags/use hand instead of toilet paper etc etc? Perhaps but it's your decision. This is about not using/reusing plastic bags.

because the Golden City was closed before the Seacow came along? Or is it where they get their from? I still don't "get" it.

I'd say: "The batter is delicious: thin and yet crispy, the fish beneath succulent. The thick, oblong chips are eloquent rebuttals to the claims of effete, stringy french fries. My one complaint? Not enough capers in the tartare sauce." is an endorsement. What have we missed beneath that?
  14. Anyone else? Lunch?
  15. Your tone comes across as derogatory to the place you've lived in for four years which confuses me slightly, are you saying you don't like East Dulwich now?
  16. Today is the day my contract comes up and I had decided on the N95, but then I found out today that Blackberry are shortly bringing out the 8820 with wi-fi so can surf with it too. I guess just wait for that.
  17. As far as I can see they've done wrong but I believe the punishment should benefit the community if possible. Anyone know what the maximum fine imposable is?
  18. I think the general impression from this thread is to keep them open. Perhaps I should organise a vote on this site (do not vote yet, I'll try and set up a proper poll): ************* What would you like to happen to Caffe Nero on Lordship Lane? Having established themselves and operated under the incorrect planning application (which is under appeal) what do you think should happen to it? Close it down (reject the appeal) Keep it open (accept the appeal) Keep it open and fine them heavily (accept the appeal with conditions) - money to go into the community if possible ************* Are these the correct options? Should the wording be amended?
  19. I was rather happy to note they they have A.K.47 Cleaning Kits for the bargain price of ?12, especially as my kit's just about to come to the end of it's useful life.
  20. *mobile phone rings, screen says Private Number calling, I answer it* "Hello, is that Mr Mark?" "yes" "Hello this is Company X (my pension company), it's just a courtesy call about your pension" "yes" "as we'll be talking about private matters can I take you through some security questions" "no" "oh, why not?" "because I don't know who you are and your about to ask me for my date of birth, address or mother's maiden name. I'm not giving those to a stranger over the phone. Tell me something about me" "I'm afraid I can't until I take you through security" *stalemate ensues* ... My brief point here is that surely these sorts of companies should be setting an example and not getting people to disclose their personal information over the phone. Just seems daft to me.
  21. what was the petition about? Keep it open or close it?
  22. Liquorish: They used to do good burgers and cocktails but haven't been there for a while, no real reason just that it's no longer on my personal preferred list. Also, as someone pointed out when I was in the new Sema Thai recently, don't people realise that solid floors, walls, ceilings and surfaces mean that the acoustics in a place are going to be loud and crap. OK, it's fashionable but it's annoying, especially in places like The Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Green & Blue. Bring back carpets and tapestries on the wall I say.
  23. I hear the Oglander pub on the corner of Adys Road and Oglander Road is closing in a month or so. It's going to become flats.
  24. is this heading towards a "I live in East Dulwich and I never said I want East Dulwich to be plastic bag free" comment? as it comes across to me like it is. The first line on Monica's initial post "Many of the retailers on Lordship lane, with the support of Southwark council and local residents..." Are we agreed that reducing the amount of plastic bags is for the greater good? If so, we should just get on and do it rather that trying to pick holes in the reasoning. If not, something else. [edited once]
  25. I know of Modbury, South Devon but none in London, do you know otherwise? If so we could be the second/third/forth etc plastic bag free town in London
