  1. would that be a Glacier Mint?
  2. here you go Citizen Ed, not a short pr?cis but you can read about it here: The Guardian, Saturday August 11, 2007: or He talked to the Observer astrologer who wouldn't take a test to see if his predictions were correct as he said might get proven wrong There was a brief explanation of cold reading and how clairvoyants do not actually speak to spirits He went to one of the hundreds of spiritualist churches in England and watched clairvoyants pretend to speak to spirits He talked about the fact that people are open to the media's devaluing of proper evidence such as the MMR vaccine which can be harmful and some other things. It'll be good to hear other people's thoughts on what he says after tonight's programme as the discussion on here is seemingly one sided but it does make for lots of hugs. [edited once]
  3. you are a diamond, thanks
  4. there's a thread about it here from last season. The first game I went to saw three red cards and a knock out, another one the Hamlets were 3-0 down and came back to win 4-3 in a last minute clincher and in another the linesman was stretchered off. I believe they're having to start with a fresh new squad this season as last year's manager Wayne "Oi Ref! Oi Ref! Oi Ref! Fu*k off" Barnet has taken last season's squad with him to Fischer Athletic. So yes, a good day out.

It doesn't matter if you're a frequent poster of messages, have posted the odd one or two or just like to watch, everyone's welcome so hopefully you'll keep that evening free to come along and have a drink. 6. Hi it's the Aquarius Golf Course, seen as a photo from above "This Golf course is actually built on top of a reservoir hence the name Aquarius. This is a very good nine hole course that has had its problems over the years but due to good management of the fairways it is back to a very good standard. There are three par 3's and the other 6 holes are all straight par 4's which makes this course good for golfers of all levels. "
  7. ok, I asked in the Magdela about upstairs on the Friday 21st and it's available and holds about 60 people. They want ?200 for it, ?100 deposit and ?100 hire. I can stump up the deposit so I need to get together another ?100. I'm thinking I might email all 1,400+ registered users to tell them about it and on that message promote some of companies for a fee say ?50 each. Any money over the ?100 fee would be put behind the bar. Now we just need to find some companies who would like chip in, and/or we could ask people who have used the forum over the year to donate via paypal to show their thanks. Does that sound good? Anyone know any companies that would like loads of business from local people?
  8. Hello As mentioned yesterday, I believed I would win the lottery last night as suggested by someone on this thread ("believe and anything is possible" I think they said), and I really believed, seriously, I even had a look at the Sunseeker website and had my eye on a nice off shore cruiser (the Portfino 53 if you're interested). Anyway I didn't win. But I was in the winning team that won the the CPT pub quiz and I won a bottle of wine in the raffle which almost made up for it. As a footnote, R Kelly once said* "I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky" and he ended up in jail. On second thoughts it may have been Orville but anyway perhaps some of us just need lessons in how to believe correctly. Anyone got Uri Geller's phone number?
  9. Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Everyone should believe in something and I believe > I'll have another drink. Jah Lush - The True Friend of Reason, Channel 4, 8pm I'd rather watch that any day, would nicely take the edge of things. Rather like a black sambuca.
  10. I feel this is a modern online version of the Magic Roundabout now magic mushrooms, they have progressed mankind (as backed up in the teachings of the great 20th Century Philosopher William Hicks)
  11. hang on, I just counter-whatevered your statement "Skeptics can only discover the truth by experience" by saying "The sun's a long way away ... I know that because of the facts...." which means you're wrong. Do you agree? If so then I shall tell you what I mean by that bit about magic, if not tell me why I'm wrong and I'll probably tell you what I mean by that bit about magic. [edited once]
  12. > Skeptics can only discover the truth by experience not really, you can make decisions based on evidence and scientific reasoning. The sun's a long way away, never been there and measured it myself but I know that because of the facts I have learnt in my life. And no I won't continue questioning those facts because I want the world and mankind to progress and it's hard to do so when progress is held back by magic.
  13. scientology and reiki are both beliefs that make people feel better should they be open to suggestion.
  14. have a look at this thread entitled "car tries to enter the Bishop"

hmmm, I'll raise a ticket with the techies and keep an eye on it. If you notice anything else please let me know as more facts make it easier to establish what the actual cause is Thanks for letting us know
  16. I notice at the top of the article it says "This article does not cite any references or sources." and I've seen the falling, laughing and crying happening at a stage hypnotist show and I agree it's strangely odd. I remember seeing some graffiti when I was a kid, on a church sign it said "Jesus Saves!" and some little tinker had written "but Dalglish scores on the rebound". Poetry. [edited once]
  17. Did you see her suddenly get better? Did you see her before and after her asthma disappeared? It may be true, it may not (see my open mindedness kick in there?) but it would be good to read about the girl, her ailments and the actual story and get some evidence before I made a decision as to whether it's valid. If it was true, and I pray that it is, can I assume that the church now cures all the local asthmatic people of their illness?
  18. I believe I will win the lottery tomorrow (I hope you all like Refreshers)
  19. Welcome to East Dulwich hyounan. So "hold an open view that anything is possible, you do not lose". Cool! Tomorrow I will win the lottery and I will buy everyone on the forum a packet of Refreshers, I'm so excited I feel better already. You probably get that all the time coming out with phrases like that ;-). Sorry, not the best welcome I agree, but you will find you have lots of clients in the area, good luck with you venture
  20. don't forget part two's on next week, Monday 8pm Channel 4
  21. a phrase I heard regarding a lady who isn't pretty: "she had a face like a bag of smashed crabs"
  22. I was just making the point that you never saw the programme yet continue discuss it. I appreciate that it's something you are close to, and I'm not meaning to continually offend you, but it would have been better to discuss a programme with someone who had actually seen the programme. right, I'm off to top up my Ju Ju
  23. yes, it was lounged rather hastily but, as I was reminded, there is still is a link to it on the ED Gossip/issues page so it's still on that list. More of a semi-lounging I'd say
  24. good point, but I didn't mention about the free 4 player in a week transfer work around ;-)
  25. so someone says something that you agree with and therefore it's correct? Or am I mistaken and the reviewer say that Dawkins was good and was expertly disseminating the preachers of guff? Enlighten us. Anyway, if I'm not mistaken you never actually saw the programme, you passed judgement after hearing his tone of voice. At least others saw it and made their thoughts known, I don't care if they think Dawkins is a tw@t but I appreciate the fact they saw it. [edited once]
