  1. I'm not a fan of the design... they look rather cramped. Although 500 sqft is kind of OK for a one bed flat, with two flights of spiral stairs, it's going to feel very tight. I do suspect that given the small size, relatively few occupants would be car owners.
  2. It's a rat. Ears and tail give it away.

I'd hope the "current cohort" were smart enough to know that ghosts aren't actually... you know... real. Do let me know if this is not the case, and I'll be sure to strike it off the shortlist for biscuits jr.

  5. Peckham is already hard enough to navigate with the ridiculous one way system. That's why we get trucks and coaches down residential streets, sometimes desperately trying to pull off a thirteen-point turn. Closing off a road might make YOUR street quieter, but it's hardly going to help the bigger picture.

Avoid at all costs. If the train isn't running, drive, get a taxi, or stay local!

If all you got from your time in London was bragging about overpriced coffee, then you probbaly missed a trick or two.
  8. There are a couple of good fried chicken places in Peckham Levels - one doing wings, another doing fried chicken burgers. Mr Bao do a decent fried chicken thingy. For good Japanese chicken "karaage" (and lots of other goodies besides) Sosharu in Farringdon is a treat... but a pricey one..
  9. Just like mamma used-ta make-a. But what the hell is a sfoligatto?
  10. Another vote for Dulwich Test & Service centre. I don't have an Audi, but it is a fairly decent car.. once it was over 4 years old or so, I never bothered taking it back to a main dealer.

So if a customer is only buying a pint of milk or a bag of crisps, it is possible the fee might completely wipe out the shop's profits, right? What's the solution? Add a few pence to all items, and accept that small individual purchases are not going to be proiftable? Maybe introduce a "discount" for customers spending over a tenner? Surely places like upmarket-ish beer shops and cafes have a built-in minimum spend of ?3 or so, so not really a fair comparison.
  12. How are the shop's fees structured? Do they have to pay a fixed (or minimum) amount per transaction, or is it always a percentage?

Not sure... there's a large overlap, at least. Picturehouse seems to be predominantly mainstream. Plex sometimes shows foreign and documentary stuff. Might try the plex again... maybe off peak or for kids stuff. Never again on a Fri/Sat evening.
  14. Surely for most professional/corporate type jobs these days, everyone is asked to opt out when joining the company.
  15. Yeah we already have a handful of clothes shops. Not sure there's a market for any more. Especially with the size of the shops in ED, and the expensive rents.. it's only really going to be boutique-type places, and those sort of shops seem to have struggled (Question-air, Mrs Robinson, etc) Most normal people buy clothes at affordable high street chain type places, and none of those are EVER going to come to ED.
  16. In 2018, people expect that if they've bought tickets online, they should just pretty much walk straight through. Not queue at a one-man box office, waiting to pick up a physical ticket, using a system which seems to take about one minute per customer. PeckhamPlex is cheap, but I no longer find it "good value". The box-office/foyer is chaos, snacks and drinks are very expensive, it's often uncomfortably hot inside, projection and audio are not great quality. I'm happier paying extra and going to a Picturehouse or Odeon.
  17. I tend to agree with DF that the smaller guide hole, with a new-ish drill bit and a hammer drill is the way to go. The problem I have in my house is that all the mortar seems to be crumbling, so when drilling into a brick wall, there's a high chance I'll end up with a hole surrounded by unstable, sandy mortar. All too often, I end up having to chisel out the (w)hole area, repairing with cement, re-plastering, painting, and finally re-drilling... then using an oversized 10cm wall plug. Putting up a shelf turns into a three day project.

Did you actually pick it up from the restaurant, or was it delivered?
  19. KrackersMaracas Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ha! Ok - but how about an admin assistant or > someone doing data entry? For either of these, I would have thought a two hour trial - say combined with an interview - is not unreasonable. The gains from any "free labour" would be more than offset by the time spent interviewing the candidate, explaining the nature of the task, providing assistance and reviewing the work.
  20. It's the 21st century, not the 19th century. Let's have something modern, efficient, fit for purpose... rather than a perpetual cycle of naff mock Victoriana.
  21. Surely it's not complicated. Two hour trial unpaid - ok Whole day unpaid - not ok Comparing this to recruiting an accountant or software developer is bloody daft for obvious reasons that I shouldn't need to point out.
  22. KalamityKel Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There are other places to go with children to dine > whether it's with an outside space to let children > run riot or not. Simple. Not really. I can't think of any other places to eat or drink nearby with an outdoor play area. It seems very mean spirited to essentially say "good riddance" to the only one.
  23. Say, for the sake of argument that I came along to one of these outings to One Tree Hill. Would I see any spirits, or can only those with this special ability see and hear them?
  24. monica Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Best place for spiritual activity is one tree hill, we often go there. Why haven't you publicised your evidence? Is it not possible to photograph or record this activity?
  25. I'm not sure about death metal, but if you know any Bon Jovi covers, you might be able to blag a slot at the Goose Green festival. Good luck fellas.
