  4. If only Alan Johnson had stood for the leadership contest instead of backing Miliband.

And now I know. So let me be clear, YOU can't be arsed to start a thread about it but you expect ME to take a stand for 'balance and fair play' by starting a new thread? Are you serious? Or do you hold every other registered user that hasn't started a thread into account too? > > That's like me going on the X factor thread & > > complaining that no-one has set up a thread to > > bash Strictly come dancing. > > > Really? No it isn't. Same principle. I can't be arsed explaining it.
  6. Park drive, you're an EDF-er. If you feel so strongly, why not start a thread about it. That's like me going on the X factor thread & complaining that no-one has set up a thread to bash Strictly come dancing.
  7. What Loz said. That whole Maggie thing has always been taken out of context. Zebedee - by all means criticise the Mail and the article about this poor man but it seems like you only wrote your post in order to have a pop at Ma Thatcher. That is the way it comes across to me anyway.

Didn't realise they were tax dodgers either. Anyway. Today's (yesterday's) irk = L'Oreal. *shakes fist*
  9. Gang activity.
  10. Thanks to Loz and El Pibe for the pics. Absolutely bang on, I had just nicked the strapline from the bottom of the article posted by SJ. Didn't realise the Daily Mash did a spoof t-shirt of it in same vein as their DM one. Parkdrive - the Mail and the Sun are despicable but this thread is about the Guardian hence my comment. Also, it wasn't genuine 'venom' 'scorn' or 'derision' on my part although I can see why you'd think that if you hadn't fully read to the bottom of the article that sparked the re-emergence of this thread. Otta - they're definitely wrong about the spelling of bellend! :)

Loz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There's a guy who does it as well (Stuart > Heritage) who is otherwise a truly dire writer, > but is totally in his element here. Laugh out > loud funny. aw I really quite like Stuart Heritage (although I haven't bought the Guardian since I turned 30*), I follow him on twitter (waves to quids). agree with AQ, I miss AC too. Especially her unique, incisive outlook on life and fabulous cookery tips. *round about the time Corn Laws were implemented.
  12. Fecking twitter.
  13. The Guardian. Wrong about everything. Always.

    What is this thread about?
  15. Wet walnuts. Mmm. my favourites. Pickle them instead. Just wait till you can pull them from the tree without resistance then you know they're ready.
  16. It's not just hipster Central Peckham Rye, Lewes is just as bad! I've even seen people there struggling with suitcases!!! Joking aside, I always find it shocking when I see people struggling up stairs with buggies on their own...whilst I limp past, headphones blaring & intently rummaging in my bag like my life depended upon it.
  17. I don't feel any sense of euphoria at the result, just a quiet relief. Friends in Scotland say the same. Result in Glasgow, perhaps it will galvanise the Labour Party?
  18. Hearing the independence vote is going to be incredibly tight. So definitely Scottish then.. (From twitter).
  19. "Small mindness to me - don't see huge emotional differences in the outcomes that the SNP and UKIP seek. Little englanders and Little scotlanders." ^totally agree with this. My theory is that Eck accuses the no side of doing the very things that he does himself: Bullying and blustering? = exactly what he does That the offer from the 3 main parties is a load of nothing? = exactly what he's offering, with no chance of paying for it. The Scottish Government/Holyrood already have the power to raise income tax by 3p so why didn't they do it to help the NHS? All they do is reiterate 'scaremongering', 'negative campaign' and 'Westminster's fault'. Someone I greatly admire has advised, 'just be stoical about it, there'll be big changes either way which might be good for us' but I don't feel like that. Like most I know, I feel unsettled, its been hugely divisive. I don't think its a good idea to offer yet more incentives to Scotland. Why haven't they used the extra tax raising powers that already exist? No wonder the rest of the union is feeling disgruntled. 'free' prescriptions have not helped the truly poor in society (that has always been there for them so they haven't seen a benefit, unlike others). The Clair oil field was discovered in the 70s, so nothing new. Now up for sale. Interest in the west of Shetlands has been going on for donkeys years. Of course, the yes campaign have pooh-poohed comments by Sir Ian Wood, so hey, they must be right. Rather listen to them than someone with 40+yrs experience in the industry. I could go on but won't.
  20. ah Otta, if that is the case then I have misunderstood. I thought the OP was posting here with the expectation of a response from them rather than to alert others to Foxton's (sadly, not surprising) despicable tactics.
  21. I'm with (both) KKs too. Are all local businesses supposed to check the Lounge section of the forum on the off-chance that there is an 'open letter' of complaint to them and subsequently reply? Such matters should and could be dealt with in person in the first instance, by all means inform people about what they have done but don't expect it to be resolved in the Lounge. I wouldn't call people disagreeing with your thread bullies either.
  22. what about that hedge fund manager who dodged paying fares for about 5 years. he had a good innings. didn't seem to flinch at the 45k bill he was presented with when eventually found out. Things like that annoy me! I know for sure I would get caught out instantly if I paid a penny less just for one journey.
  23. Travel website selling me a ticket for early travel only to find I cannot collect the ticket until 9am. No other option. I have tried. Bring on ticketless travel and being able to purchase everything using my phone/smart tech. (Mind you Quids' Toad-in-the-fooking-hole post has cheered me up no end. HMB is right. Watch this space. 2015. Gonna be HUGE).
  24. finishing work on time or as near as dammit, giving me a whole evening left to do whatever I damn well please. (usually nothing much but not the point).
