  1. There's a lot of pressure being applied to relax the 2m rule at the moment, mainly by businesses (hospitality, airlines ..) as they see it as a barrier to getting enough customers in to justify opening. On the other hand infection rates are higher here then other countries that have been cited as relaxing the rule. My personal thought is after seeing what happened when things were relaxed recently (increased numbers on the beaches , mass protests , failure to social distance) that if the rule is relaxed to 1m then that would soon be ignored as currently most people are not observing the full 2m rule when passing others in the street. Thoughts ?
  2. Have you had PPE ?

Paul or Pamela ?
  5. And that's the paradox, your family are appalled at the way the indigenous people are treated, yet your very ancestors treated them badly and stole the land from them in the first place and treated them as second class. My comments aren't about actually giving the land back but that there is a limit to how much people are prepared to give to have true equality.😱
  6. SB There is that element too, that can't be denied that the current non indigenous residents came from other countries including the UK and Ireland. Which is the crux of the paradox, they took the land over and would they , if asked , give it back ? My suspicions are not which would be exactly the same in America if the native Americans (commonly mislabeled as Indians) demanded their land back. Whilst people protest for equal rights, there will always be a point where the equal rights stop in favour of the majority current land owners.

  8. Rockets as James is a teacher, you have to question what views about the police teachers expresses in front of young vulnerable children based on the comments in his latest tweets ?
  9. James so the healthy streets consultation is a sham then as whilst it's still going on, you are planning on implementing some of the measures in it regardless Not exactly democratic or fair is it ?
  10. There is a curious paradox in Australia Protesters are out in support of the indigenous population who are treated badly by the police. But I wonder how many of the same protestors are willing to give the land back that their ancestors stole from the same indigenous population ? Now this makes for an interesting angle to the debate.
  11. http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=50023147&Opt=0 Are we allowed to comment either in support or against these schemes ?
  12. This is how the council are ignoring local resident consultations and pushing through their ideas regardless using the excuse of "social distancing measures" http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=50023147&Opt=0 Are we allowed to object to these schemes before they get steam rollered in ?
  13. Oh it's real johnl, apparently it stops her fillings picking up Russian radio signals and the Alien abductions have subsided since adopting a foil cap. Mind you she's not all there as she thinks Trump is the Anti-Christ from the Omen films 🙈😱

  15. Oh The press release in the first post is 9 years old, she left then went back to the BBC 3 years later ..

  20. Sephiroth Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's a horrble situation for any government to > face but the notion that noone could have done > better than Johnson beggars belief, frankly Although this discussion is all based on speculation and theory as no one else is actually prime minister so it's easy to point fingers at Boris. If someone else was prime minister my feeling is that they would make just as many , but possibly not the same ones
  21. I love the impartial nature of this thread In an area (and on a forum) that largely voted for labour then of course Boris won't be seen to be doing anything right. But he is being advised by leading scientists, top virologists, experts in their fields and heads of NHS. Some are civil servants but all would be giving exactly the same words of advice regardless of who is in power, be it Tory's , Labour, Lib Dem or the Monster Raving Loony party. Advice is listened to, cabinet, cobra and sage meetings are held where the advisers are invited to speak and yes the government in power then acts (or not) on the advice. Kier has the advantage of hindsight , but let's be honest would he have made the same decisions if Labour won the last GE ? My feeling is possibly as he would have been getting exactly the same advice and the leader of the Tory's would be doing the same to try and bring Labour down. Politics is political after all. The care home issue is a difficult one, the majority are private companies charging an arm and a leg to look after people who are more often than not at the end of life. They have their own procurement people with strong links to the medical and pharmaceutical sectors so why they didn't ask their suppliers for ppe is the real question that should be asked. They are also very experienced with seasonal illnesses in care homes (norovirus, seasonal flu...) where they have isolation and protection procedures. Why weren't they implemented ? Agreed some homes are council run but again they have the same links / contacts and procedures so why were they not better prepared as an organisation ? It may be a very black and white view but it is a question that isn't being asked, instead the media have whipped up a frenzy pointing fingers at the government over care home deaths. The cynical side of me also thinks that there may be a collective sigh of relief by relatives who are no longer paying up to 8 grand a month to have someone looked after because the family couldn't or wouldn't. (Just my opinion here) So my answer to the question is and based on the fact that the advisers and advice given would be the same "yes, as fit as any other PM would be in the same situation of a global pandemic that no one saw coming"
  22. Also it would cause issues for buses and bus users, especially the elderly and disabled Good to see you are thinking out of the box, but leave wacky ideas that will increase traffic flows to the council staff who specialise in stupid ideas IMHO
  23. James Conway are at it again, today notices have appeared on cars around the junction of Upland and Barry roads requesting no parking from today with no prior notice that parking restrictions are being imposed. Not good enough in a period when people are still being asked to stay at home and some residents are on enforced isolation Please sort this sort of p!ss poor behaviour from Conway out !
