Compulsory Face coverings on Public Transport.

This is typical of the general attitude in the population "I know we need to wear face coverings but I'm a special case and beside I won't catch it or pass it on" We don't seem to be very good at following the rules do we! Maybe because "the special cases" went out and spread the virus during the 10 weeks of lock down rather than following the advice of staying home then the numbers could have been lower over the whole period, based purely on if people stayed in then the virus couldn't be transmitted. Of course this is am idealistic view of things but based on comments about people not wanting to wear masks then it lends weight to the concept in my opinion. Oh Snoopy, I'm not having a go at you, more the general attitude we as a nation seem to have to bring told what to do yet wanting to blame those that tell us when our failure to follow advice makes everything go wrong. -
With the comments on indoor vs outdoor spread of droplets and whilst shops can reopen safely with the 2m rule and limit numbers inside with people queuing outside where it is relatively safer ( ? ) I have to ask the following question. How safe is an enclosed shopping center like Westfield's where the droplets and potential spread of infection won't respond in the same way as they would in an open high street ?

I wonder if other counties support their governments decisions ? Italy are holding their government to account and let's be honest it's a global pandemic and if we had a different government in place they would make mistakes too. One person breaking the rules doesn't justify you doing the same, if Cummings or any other rule breaker jumped off a cliff would you? The real issue is that the science here is new and our scientists support keeping the 2m rule but activists want 1m and regardless of what the government decide they will be wrong in the eyes of half the population so it's a no win decision. Are we that desperate for a pint and pizza that we would risk our health or is the risk of a second wave exaggerated ?
-
Is that a vote in support of keeping the 2m rule or not ?

There's a lot of pressure being applied to relax the 2m rule at the moment, mainly by businesses (hospitality, airlines ..) as they see it as a barrier to getting enough customers in to justify opening. On the other hand infection rates are higher here then other countries that have been cited as relaxing the rule. My personal thought is after seeing what happened when things were relaxed recently (increased numbers on the beaches , mass protests , failure to social distance) that if the rule is relaxed to 1m then that would soon be ignored as currently most people are not observing the full 2m rule when passing others in the street. Thoughts ?

And that's the paradox, your family are appalled at the way the indigenous people are treated, yet your very ancestors treated them badly and stole the land from them in the first place and treated them as second class. My comments aren't about actually giving the land back but that there is a limit to how much people are prepared to give to have true equality.😱
-
SB There is that element too, that can't be denied that the current non indigenous residents came from other countries including the UK and Ireland. Which is the crux of the paradox, they took the land over and would they , if asked , give it back ? My suspicions are not which would be exactly the same in America if the native Americans (commonly mislabeled as Indians) demanded their land back. Whilst people protest for equal rights, there will always be a point where the equal rights stop in favour of the majority current land owners.

There is a curious paradox in Australia Protesters are out in support of the indigenous population who are treated badly by the police. But I wonder how many of the same protestors are willing to give the land back that their ancestors stole from the same indigenous population ? Now this makes for an interesting angle to the debate.

This is how the council are ignoring local resident consultations and pushing through their ideas regardless using the excuse of "social distancing measures" http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=50023147&Opt=0 Are we allowed to object to these schemes before they get steam rollered in ?

Oh it's real johnl, apparently it stops her fillings picking up Russian radio signals and the Alien abductions have subsided since adopting a foil cap. Mind you she's not all there as she thinks Trump is the Anti-Christ from the Omen films 🙈😱

Oh The press release in the first post is 9 years old, she left then went back to the BBC 3 years later ..
