New Sweet Shop on Lordship Lane
Spartacus replied to Passiflora's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A classic example of trolling there Sue Congratulations on putting someone's business down I applaud you for stopping this modern day blight of new businesses opening up and stopping shops being empty. Keep up the good work. 😂 -

Is it all hail John Bercow? With his ruling that MPs cannot be repeatedly asked to vote on the same question in a Parliamentary session, and the fact that the vote for a second referendum that occurred last week was rejected, then does his ruling also preclude a new vote on a second referendum in this parliamentary session ? It may well be by supporting one course of action, he has closed off another 😱

Where is WoofMarkTheDog when yu need him on a subject ? also I was in wandsworth over the weekend, and they have a compulsary 'Dog chipping' policy for residents, which begs teh questions of 1) How do they know if you are a resident or a visitor ? 2) what happens if you visit, and your dog isn't chipped ? 3_ hopw will they check, some sort of doggy scanner like the new heathrow body scanners, positioned at every park gate ?

Hi Tom P The structure houses a Zoetrope, a cylinder that has images on the inside and slits on the outside. It was installed by The Peckham Partnership (which became the Peckham Programme which has now thankfully vanished) and was supposed to rotate and show a moving image. Sadly, like a lot of things planned by the Project Managers of the Peckham Partnership / Programme, they failed to establish a maintenance policy for it, and even more bizarely they failed to gain access rights to the tower. This caused a problem when it was installed as their was a fault with the design which neeeded correcting (I think from memory that it was electrical) and it hever really got switched on as a result. I asked a Mr Strabens from the council a few years ago if it could be corrected and he appeared rather negative about it, told me that it would cost too much and by now the mechanism would more then likely not work due to age and lack of use. Pity as it would have been a lovely thing to see in action. Regarding the prosperity of Rye Lane, up until the early 70's Peckham was the place to be for shops, Rye Lane was called the golden Mile, it rivaled places like oxford Street and sadly, due to the council investing in (what we now call 'Social Housing') in the Peckham area and inviting Single parent families to come to Southwark (Again as I understand it, this was down to Government Grants at the time for Councils who did this) that the economic prosperity of the area was reduced by a lack of people in work, spending less in the vicinity and as a result the bigger stores moved out due to a reduction in income. Sad really, but I hope my information helps

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Spartacus replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James, On teh 1st of Feb, the following question was asked, but I can't find a reply from you chichirara Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Heello RBARBER could you give me an update on the > Barry Van Hire situation they are still parked all > around Barry Road and running their business > Regards Tonight I found out that Dulwich Van Hire are now co-locating into Barries off license, next door to their current premises. The vans are, and have been causing issues in residental roads aroudn the barry road / upland road junction for a number of months now, and it does put a strain on the parkign spaces available. Can you update us on the current situation, what is being done to relive the pressure and how on earth the owner of the busienss got permission to build on his old site without consideration to what knock on effect it would have on the residential area once his business was forced to 'effectively' trade from the street. Many thanks in advance S -

Quetions to find out more about you all (for no other reason apart from amusement) Gentlemen Do you shake, wipe or waggle ? If there are three urinals, and no one there, which would you use ? If there is someone in the middle, would you use the one either side ? Do you prefer not to pee in public ? Ladies Drip Dry, wipe or not bother If you are caught short in public would you hold it or go behind a tree Do you hover or sit on a public seat Either Sex Can you go for a No.2 in someone elses house What ever you answer, it will reveal a lot about you and before anyone raises the pun, yes it is takign the pee !!
