Okay So in the middle of a cost of living crisis, when businesses are having an unprecedented rise in employers ni contributions, that will have unpredicted impacts on consumer habits and potentially push the UK into at worst, a recession, at best tightening of belts, you want to add additional costs on local businesses and if they go under that's their issue ? Maybe you don't need to graft to put food on your families table but our lovely shopkeepers and staff do. Ar times you're as sensitive as Trump and Vance!

In a few years we won't be allowed to buy new ICE vehicles, electric only therefore that alone will massively reduce carbon emissions so the argument that a CPZ is there to reduce carbon emissions in itself should lead to removing CPZs when cars are mostly electric Or do you disagree @malumbu?

@malumbu Diesel and petrol taxis are still on the streets of London, they are being phased out when they reach a certain age, to be replaced by electric ones but still over 50% of the fleet is not there yet. Buses are not all electric yet and the hybrid ones only use electric motors when they sometimes move below a certain speed, but often idle when they regulate their service pumping fumes out.

Is it just the ULEZ ? Two of the biggest polluters have been going green, with black cab taxis and buses moving towards electric. I personally suspect that the removal of diesel from both fleets has had an impact on air quality and it may well he that the ULEZ has had a large impact, but along side it being introduced, other changes wete occurring.

It's not additional parking, but existing parking that's being made pay and display. That will push visitors to roads on the opposite side of Lordship Lane whilst also making it harder generally for shoppers and visitors to park. I can see lots for businesses to object to.

Maybe Southwark would take a leaf out of the Roman's book.and build a straight cycle path 😅

It strikes me that a better solution would be to place the cycle lane in the green, making it a more enjoyable experience then cycling up a road, and completely segregating it from buses thus increasing safety for all. Granted a small amount of the green space will be sacrificed but it does reduce conflict between cyclists and buses using the same space and possibly a more enjoyable cycling experience. But I guess that's too radical for the council
