    Dick?s Out

I see the Mayor is whining about the Met Police once again BBC News - Metropolitan Police has real problems, Sadiq Khan says https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-61696549 Interestingly (or not) he doesn't want to take responsibility for it, despite being the current occupant of the Mayor?s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and is required by law to produce a plan that explains how the police, community safety partners and other criminal justice agencies will work together to reduce crime. The Police and Crime Plan reflects the Mayor?s manifesto and priorities for making London a safer city for all Londoners and the Mayor?s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the strategic oversight body tasked with devising the Police and Crime Plan and ensuring that it is delivered over four years. Much like anything else he's responsible for, TfL is a prime example, he always seems to find someone else to blame... In my opinion, he needs to stand up, take responsibility and deliver something rather then blaming everyone else.
  2. Sorry, you aren't 11... my mistake you act older then you are... Good luck going to big boys school in September.
  3. Don't worry CauliflowerEar, half term is almost over and you can immerse yourself back in studying for your 11 plus again.
  4. Poor Dulwich Fox Gone but his posts will be with us to the end of the forum RIP Foxy
  5. New wave Did it leave a bitter taste in your mouth ?
  6. So Brian and Co are you implying that Khan is completely blame free? Or that some blame can be apportioned to him and some elsewhere ? As was said, the sooner TfL isn't used as a political football, the better for users 🙄
  7. Thanks James, for putting it into context. Out of curiosity, if you were still a Councillor how would you interact with TfL over this situation ?
  8. Say what you mean CPR ... But you're making a valid point, Khan has been in charge for 6 years so has to take a proportion of the blame. If he hadn't licenced so many uber drivers (other brands are available) then maybe bus use wouldn't have declined as much. If he had applied a fairer price structure then buses may not have run at a loss. He had 4 years pre pandemic to restructure but all he did was cancel the new route masters because they were associated with the previous mayor. But I guess, people voted for him again and this is how he's repayed us all...

  10. I love the tweet from Councillor Williams "To be clear this is a choice being forced through by the Conservative Party. They could use the ?500m raised every year from Londoners paying Vehicle Excise Duty to pay for London's roads as happens in the rest of the country rather than forcing bus & tube passengers to fund them" as Southwark Council and TfL seem to have an agenda of reducing private car ownership which would obviously erode this projected ?500 million VED income. He's almost shooting himself in the foot there. But let's compare TfL to a private company or a Premier league football team, where if they were in this much "trouble" the blame would be levied at the head and not the shareholders so in my mind, regardless of outside support that's been supplied, the Mayor needs to accept his share of the blame for what's happened during his watch and accept the consequences rather then punishing the users.

That's the point Nigelo, you have to change rather than a direct bus to Oxford Circus We all know how busy the elephant interchsnge can be so it just makes it more awkward for a lot of people.
  13. Oh oh oh Don't forget it has pedals too 😉

  15. Consultation here https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/busreview There is proposal to reroute the 148 to cover the Camberwell Green, Peckham, Rye Lane, Barry Road sections but it does remove the ability to get to Oxford Circus as a change would be needed at Parliament Square.

  17. Plus the councillors Rose (responsible for making bus journeys faster) and Williams (leader) to ask what they are doing ?
  18. James Now you are settled back in office, can you raise with your fellow councillors and the leader the issue around the removal of the no 12 bus service by TfL as highlighted here /forum/read.php?5,2277496,2279861#msg-2279861 Obviously this is short sighted by TfL and the impact will be massive on the community, elderly and disabled who rely on it and as commuter numbers increase whilst we return to more normal working patterns there will obviously be less alternatives to driving which goes against the councils goal of reducing car usage. I look forward to how you and the council will work with the community and TfL to overturn this ludicrous removal of essential local bus services.
  19. Thanks Kel That's a kick in the Teeth for the area and residents along Barry Road who depend on the 12 to get to work.

  21. Here's an question for you all If there is a vote of no confidence in Boris Johnson, which he loses, assuming the government doesn't go back to the polls with a general election and there will be a new Tory PM selected which of the existing Tory MPs is the one that could be PM. Frankly, none of them stand out in anyway for me but Gove and Rees-Mogg would be akin to voting for Trump in mind.
  22. Bob, i had you down as an iClone watch sort of guy🤔 Possibly of the back of a builders lorry 🤣
  23. If only the 4th of July had gone the other way... 🤣
  24. Todays telegraph has an article (behind the paywall) talking about how our diets during the coronation were better for us then now. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness/body/eating-habits-need-bring-back-1950s I've turned it into a PFF for those who aren't subscribers. There's also a good book called "Fat: An Appreciation of a Misunderstood Ingredient, with Recipes" by Jennifer McLagan which talks about how Fats were demonised because the salt and sugar lobbies fought their corner when it was recommended (based on the 50s diet) that we ate using moderate amounts of Fat, sugar and salt.in our diets. Quite scary to think that food industries have apparently made us obese and with a change back to eating around a table, switching television off and home cooking we could reverse the trend Are you up for the challenge?
  25. At least Johnny foreigner didn't convince us to drive on the wrong side of the road. Maybe that's the next stage of the masterplan, convert Europe to drive on the right (left) hand side of the road 🤔
