  1. Are you asking if you should ignore the alert ? Did it tell you to self isolate? If so you need to read this https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/if-youre-told-to-self-isolate-by-nhs-test-and-trace-or-the-covid-19-app/ Only you can decide if you follow the advice or not, however if you have been exposed and are asymptomatic then how will you feel if you infect others? Ultimately your choice but as you downloaded the app then you are already demonstrating your responsibility and I suspect you will do the right thing if asked.

I thought this was a thread about a new vinyl pressing title by Miss Spears. So confused and disappointed now !

  4. I am a decades-long forumite, antagonist and now of course, angry LTN poster . My posture is increasingly knackered from leaning over my phone and my fingers are red raw from angry stabbing at the keyboard. After looking up a few articles I'm looking for someone to diagnose and assist in fighting back. Are other posters in a similar position and are we all in danger of ending up with twisted postures and fat fingers on one hand from typing on small devices? Do we need to set up EDF anonymous so we can (virtually) talk about our addiction and get community support?
  5. Rah , that maybe so but from every virus / zombie film I've seen the whole world should have been prepared for a global pandemic. Thank the stars we don't have alien invasion films......
  6. James Is there information / minutes you can share ?
  7. Foxy, for someone who objected so much to what was on sale at Franklin's, you sure seem to have an encyclopedic knowledge of their stock and prices Did you just go in to look and moan or actually support a local business by shopping there ?

If you think that's hypercritical then you are showing how insensitive you are to others in society.

What about the elderly, infirmed or disabled who find 200m equivalent to 2 miles ? Walk (or don't) in their shoes for a day before making such blatant statements like that !
  10. It all depends in what you want to do If using code (php, asp.... ) then you can go one way if using drag and drop website building tools then you can go different ways. With some context it's easier for people to advise
  11. Maybe the council employee was singing the 1983 classic White lines Don't, don't do it maybe, maybe And got confused

They were I expect simply lazy drivers who > couldn't give a fig, and I was disappointed about > the low level of enforcement. The Rye Lane parking restrictions pre pandemic operated on a timed basis, with one side being no parking in the morning, then flipping over to the other side in the afternoon. It was designed to allow buses the room to pass and traders to load / unload. The downside is that some people parked on the wrong side at the wrong time which is where congestion and chaos ensued
  13. I think Malumbu, the reason is because cyclists are often aggressive towards car drivers and sometimes pedestrians. I think the only answer is an in person meeting when it's safe to do with a big bowl of a hallucinogenic type tobacco product that everyone can participate in to come to a joint consensus on how everyone can all use the road together May not work but what a meeting it will be and the munchies after will support a local business for days 🤔
  14. So sad to see and a loss of a lovely shop. Interesting to see some people's reaction to the news on twitter. Social Media is so toxic at times.
  15. Amazing twist on the upcoming consultation (see the attached document) No minimum age for responding to the consultation and stakeholders both inside and outside of the Dulwich area scheme are able to respond. The cynic in me wonders if, for example, let's say a school teacher asks his pupils who are outside of the area to write a response to the scheme as part of their homework. I also have to question how easy it will be to verify that a person under 18 actually exists, as they aren't in the electoral register and we've all heard stories of families incorrectly claiming things like universal credit for non existent children. Of course I'm not saying anyone would deliberately manipulate responses but it is open to abuse if someone was so inclined.

  17. People often compare London to European cities (Paris, Amsterdam ...) In order to say they're doing it (making provisions for cycling), why can't we. What's different is that during and as a result of ww2, large parts of European cities were knocked down and rebuilt with a lot of wider streets whereas London retained the narrow street infrastructure we see today. It's obviously easier to install cycle lanes that work with other traffic if the streets are wider.
  18. Sad to think that liquorish went to be replaced by the house of tippler which has also gone (but neither forgotten)

  20. I'm very confused here, and it's a genuine confusion which I need clarity on. Are you objecting to the use of any three word phrase that has "matters" at the end or do you really feel that people will confuse it for the BLM slogan ? Is it due to the use of "all" at the beginning, which was a genuine issue when it was used with lives matter? Because it's seen to take away from the important issues that are affecting black lives in a bad way, and which need to be addressed The analogy you use isn't quite the same as if someone used "lest we forget" for carrier bags then it's a direct use of the phrase , but in this case are you saying that using "bags you forget" (just keeping the last word the same) would be an issue?. I'm not trying to stir things but confused by why exactly a three word phrase ending in matter is creating a storm , but also want clarity on what expressions you think are and aren't acceptable in the support of equal air quality for all ?

As Sephiroth said above, the mixing and potential to disseminate a new vaccine resistant variant around the world is the issue Not how well Japan has kept it under control in the past, the Olympics could have the potential to undo all the good work done by our vaccination program and lock down to date !
  22. Given the current global Covid situation, with places like India experiencing a variant of concern and even Japan being forced into a further measured approach, should the Olympics be postponed again? My personal thoughts is another years delay is highly sensible.
  23. I love the adverts that say they can make the grid greener, more efficient and so on, but in small print it says "requires changes by the consumer" A smart meter only makes it smarter for the billing department and not the consumer, it doesn't switch off devices when not in use, only tells you how much energy you are using. The risk is that in the future we won't have fiat rate tariffs but that companies can vary the cost during peak periods thus making bills more variable and potential punish consumers who work and use more power during peak times in the evening as they can see what times of day your consumption is !
