What a "male chicken" for making a statement like that Mobility scooters aren't wheelchair friendly for example , some disabled people need to be driven so how does that work with a scooter (plus the car is then not single occupancy) Some disabled people are children (see above argument) Stop scratching in the dirt with your claws and open your eyes as not everyone has the same needs, disability or mobility so by denying them access to a car you might well be condemning them to being stuck indoors and a less rich life Roads must be for all users, not just the fit healthy able bodied ones and if that sticks in your craw then get on your bike and pedal off (that's assuming your able bodied of course) Rant over.

really independent advice on equity release needed
Spartacus replied to renarde's topic in The Lounge
I have to wonder if in a few years time, equity release schemes will be the next PPI type scandal. After all these companies, whilst giving you instant cash, are going to want to make as much money from their investment as they can. I can see the legal adverts in 10 years "My holiday was on my house, but my children were left with nothing by the equity company" -

The rise of the SUV is an interesting discussion point. Is it the public's fault for being brainwashed by advertisers for wanting one ? Is it the manufacturer's fault for building them in the first place ? Or is it a combination of manufactures and the public both believing it's what the other wants ? It's crazy in an age where we are trying to make better use of the road space for all and more fuel efficient transport, that the government allows the sales of large SUVs and advertising pushes them (at least 25% of car adverts seem to be for a SUV). Maybe there needs to be a push from central government to make large SUVs less attractive and at the same time make sure that those who need off road capacity (farmers, life guards ....) can get it. Oh and the argument above to return to car designs of the 60s, at least they had style and character rather than being jelly mould shapes. (My opinion is purely based on looks not functionality or safety features)

Today, 3rd of August 2021, the travel industry "welcomed" the scrapping of the idea of an amber watch list idea. This watch list would have alerted travellers and the travel industry when a country has strong potential to move from "amber" to "red" but the industry said it was too complicated to get across to the public (I guess the red, red amber, green, amber sequence used in the road traffic light system is also far too complicated for most road users in that case) The prediction is as follows : as soon as a country (let's say Spain for discussions sake) moves from Amber to Red, the same travel industry who rejected the idea of an amber watch list will be jumping up and down saying "but you didn't warn us this was going to happen and there's not enough time to get people back" Of course not even Nostradamus got every prediction right 🤔

Shakespeare was a cockney init, he built 'is t'eater on the banks of old father and I suspect Romeo and Juliet went "Romeo Romeo where the bleeding 'eck is ya, get up me apples and get in me Uncle with your Hampton cos I'm gagging for it." But one could be wrong couldn't one !

You of course realise that RCH, who has complained as per her post above, was a local councillor who possibly still has a lot of influence in council chambers. So don't be so sure your comment above is accurate. Still you're young, you'll learn when you grow up I guess (paraphrasing your comment about others growing up) -

Deep in the middle of Burges park would be a good venue as few houses around the central part. -

Funny how things go in circles isnt > it? Isn't it My generation grew up with acid house, raves and warehouse parties and I love the fact that a lot of "your music" samples a lot of my generations music so obviously appreciation isn't the issue here. The question really is : is there a better location in the borough that satisfies everyone ? -

Life's gonna hurt, and if you choose to take drugs then you also choose the consequences. No one forces you to take them so if life turns around and kicks you by giving you a reaction then frankly you were in control of your own destiny and the sad thing is it's the people left behind that get hurt the most. -

I'm looking forward to 20 years from now when Joe Peckham and Funny are on here complaining that a music festival on the Rye has kept their kids awake all night and they are now too tired to go and do their jobs. Assuming of course that they don't od on some dodgy tabs first that is like so many people I knew in my youth have. -
Interesting, they are married you know. So are you saying married people don't or should have sex and children ? Wow what an amazingly different place East Dulwich would be if that was the case! Like him or loath him, as a married couple they are only doing what other married couples do..

They seem to be out early this year. -
You are right Blah Blah, however what I am saying is that by simply showing ID to prove you're not John Smith when you answer the door to the police at home would defuse the whole are you Mr x , no I'm not debacle and resolve things quickly. Clearly hedgehog was within in their rights not to prove their identity, but sometimes volunteering information on who you are will clear up the situation a lot quicker and may help avoid additional confrontation.
-
That's quite an allegation hedgehog or a leap to conclusion, I'm not saying you're wrong or doubting you but if you are going to bring a case forward make sure you have solid evidence. Police officers are often tasked with visiting the address of people who, for example, have either failed to attend court or skipped bail and all the information they get is a name and address so they aren't expected to confirm the details are correct as they were told to attend a premise. It may be that the person they are looking for has given your address and that's where the confusion lies, or that at sometime in the past the person they are looking for was known to frequent your address (possibly before you moved in) and the police are using old data to find someone. Sometimes, and it's not a reflection on your actions, just saying who you are and showing a letter, driving licence or other similar proof will stop them from trying to establish if John Smith is there. Remember they are doing their job and stretched massively by demands on them so the happy friendly Bobby who has time for a chat is sadly mostly in our past. I hope the fact that they went away will mean an end to the situation and you have no more visits of this type but it may be a good suggestion to call up the police station and establish why they came to your address so that if someone has given a false address you can get the record rectified.

It's alright Rockets, mankind didn't actually land on the Moon either... 😱😂 Oh hang we did and I don't think you're far off the mark with the above.
