Not sure this is the best thread to add this to. Just read that grants for switching to electric cars have been changed BBC News - Grants to buy electric cars to be cut to ?2,500 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56441639 Doesn't make it easy to move from fossil to ev as the cost of electric cars is potentially a limiting factor.

There have now been over 57thousand complaints to ofcom about Piers Morgan on good morning. Struth, that's shocking as I didn't think that many people actually watch the show 😱

There are some bus routes, not local , that aren't running due to a strike today. If the move is to use public transport more, and to drive car ownership and usage down then imagine the chaos a strike by any or all of the transport unions would cause. Whilst the overall goal is to increase public transport usage, there has to be viable alternatives available. Just look at the issues caused by road works on the ED roundabout this week where buses were terminating early. One solution doesn't fit all.

Apparently only another day, but that's a Conway estimate 😆

Roky, the vibration caused by cars and bigger vehicles passing over humps causes cracks to appear in plaster as the vibration acts like a shock wave.

Please help the campaign Fair Air for East Dulwich
Spartacus replied to Metallic's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There needs to be a single funding effort to do this and to fight for consultations on the the LTNs Although both things (air pollution monitoring and consultations) are the councils responsibility yet they are stubbornly and spectacularly failing to engage on both fronts. Maybe the funding would be better spent on a legal case to get the council to do the right thing and not fob us off with "covid restrictions" which isn't cutting the mustard any more. -
Interestingly, and I don't believe her, but someone I know swears blind that Americans speak the Queens English as it was when the founders left on the Mayflower and it's us who've dumbed it down. My counter argument with her is that she's referring to queens the NY district and not ER ii the Queen.

Hmm Tfl seem to hold the register of all road works http://public.londonworks.gov.uk/roadworks/home And it's no longer part of southwark's website. Which lends credence to the mayor having overview of all roadworks, not just on tfl roads. (Of course a burst main is an emergency, but whilst the hole is there other planned works can occur) Ex you do have the same characteristics of a council employee, are you sure your not a southwark patsy?

Oh man Two point five four centimeter worm sure wouldn't have the same stylistic symmetry 😱

Interesting view johnl, the "positives none" Like the pub work force, if there's no positive reason to stay they wouldn't be here, so if ex pats are staying then there has to be some reason or positives, hence why I think that Liz should be writing an unbiased article and not a negative hearsay article. A lot of the ex pats I know have a lot of positive reasons to stay along with a number of frustrations.
-
If Liz Rowlinson writes an unbiased article then your question might be answered is my guess.

Cunning plan as in putting your underpants on your head, shoving pencils up your nose and saying "wibble" Although to be fair, I get the impression that's exactly what the council do when they get complaints...

Are you prepared to put your assumption on support to a formal fair open consultation that involves those who live on roads now carrying excessive traffic caused by LTNs? It's got to be fair for all, not just a minority

This was reposted by "open our roads"and whilst it reflects Waltham Forest it also shows all London boroughs. Time for local councils to wake up to the issues the LTNs are causing and the very real risk of paramedics not getting to people in time.

Typical journalist with a contradictory request "It's not political" and "share any practical issues/difficulties caused by Brexit" If it was truly non political you should be asking for positives and negatives to produce a balanced article not a one sided biased article.

Increased graffiti during lockdowns?
Spartacus replied to matthew_n's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's the same down Rye Lane, although that's in part caused by the lane being closed to traffic so the taggers feel free to spray without being observed from passing bus passengers or police patrol cars. One of the downsides of closing a shopping area to traffic without increasing security. -
Is there a dedicated traveler site in Dulwich village ? Lucky H'ffer anyone ?

Is the square big enough for a fun fair ? Imagine noisy rides , lights, feral youths Friends of Dulwich square scream if you've had enough!😱

It's interesting to see the tweet slarti b , The mention of discussions with the highways officers implied that they have the true power in these schemes and the councillors can only input to the idea. I could be wrong but it feels like this is being run by council officers and they can play the long game as their jobs are safe but the councillors get voted in or out every five years.

Duncanw, it's a curiosity,I didn't infer anything, you are trying to read between the lines too much and making your own conclusion. But to put the record straight, I find any mayor of London an expensive layer of bureaucracy that possibly isn't needed. After all between the abolition of the GLC and the first new mayor we didn't have the whole circus and things ran without any real problems.
