  1. On today's BBC BBC News - Coronavirus doctor's diary: Why are some of Bradford's elderly refusing the vaccine? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55952189

  4. Please "tweak" them to the scrap heap and have a proper consultation on the concept 😆

Just to play devil's advocate for a moment I guess if you want to question logic , it's just as baffling why so many who wanted to remain part of a bigger whole, are supporting the idea of the UK splitting up. Both your comment and the above seem to put people at odds with their views in the EU referendum. There's nothing as queer as folk when it comes to politics

  7. Amazon are calling again If my calculations are correct, in the past 12 months my renewals have cost me ?1,264 Thank the stars I don't have an Amazon account so I just ignore the calls
  8. I'm curious Northern The report was created using the website the council asked people to leave their comments on. If the data showed a massive level of support for the scheme (with 1,100 comments) would you be touting it as proof that the scheme should stay or be extended ?
  9. Rockets, you are right in all you say but I can bet that as people have to register for the zoom call, either pro people will be picked or some other way of silencing the anti participants will be found (pre registered questions only will be one thought) The council have an agenda (after all they have a "Deputy Cabinet Member for Low Traffic Southwark" and that role needs something to do) so don't expect this to be a simple opportunity to object to the councils vision as they are only allowing 35 minutes for residents comments and questions...

Will there be fireworks ? Nothing gets the forum curtain twitches going more than fireworks New Years Eve (brexit fireworks) New Years day (brexit fireworks) February 12th (Chinese takeaway brexit fireworks) July 4th (American brexit fireworks) Nov 5th (guy blowing up Boris for brexit fireworks) Diwali (Indian brexit fireworks) Might as well go for broke and have the cats brexit BBQ fireworks ðŸ˜ą
  11. malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Don't use that old excuse Bickell. Try moving to > most other parts of the country, then you will > realise how good and how cheap it is here. That's the issue Malumbu, we don't live in the country, we live in a metropolitan area where commuting or travelling is part of our lives Unless there are viable , frequent and reliable public transport alternatives to get around then people will use cars as cycling and walking doesn't offer a sensible alternative to journeys over a few miles or with heavy packages. Equally think about the elderly, disabled or those with other mobility based issues Changes need to work with the population of an area, not against it otherwise they will experience heavy resistance. The council encouraged us to respond on a website yet when the majority state they are against the schemes, questions are raised over who exactly responded. Care to bet that if it showed support, there would be no questions and councillors crowing about the success of the schemes. The problem here is a lack of consultation and monitoring prior to implementation and deaf ears in the council after.
  12. And with the ULEZ fast approaching and the drive to electric cars, there's change a plenty coming.

  15. That's 'if' the Germans and French have enough alternative vaccines to offer to the over 65s , if they don't then it dies seem a folly of a policy.
  16. It's interesting to see that as well as Germany, France has decided not to give the Oxford vaccine to over 65s. Could you imagine if we said the same, the public outcry would be deafening as over 65s are high on the vulnerable list and have a higher mortality rate if they end up in hospital.
  17. Interesting Is this to gain support for new schemes or discuss existing schemes ?

  20. Over the past month, there's been some strange goings on with the stock markets with things like gamestop seeing unprecedented investment by small investors following tips from sites like reddit. Today silver seems to be the investment of choice. A few years after the Spanish flu pandemic (1929) , the stock market crashed as stocks were valued a lot higher than their worth after a speculative trading boom, high unemployment and reduced production levels. This caused the great depression that lasted ten years. With shares being manipulated at the moment through whispers on sites like reddit, and unemployment in the west high along with some industry sectors being suppressed through lock down, could this be a sign that stock markets are about to crash ? Conspiracists among us could even question if this is manipulation by outside parties in a bid to bring down the west after covid was introduced to destabilise the economy first. Should we be worried ?
  21. Hey Bob Legally they don't own the air above their house so with a careful cantilever design you could always build an extension just above their loft 😉

Sounds an interesting development (unless of course it's trump bleach ðŸ˜ą) FYI the new emoji possibly only works on the latest Apple and Android devices 😭

  24. You're not wrong johnl I think it's a case of not knowing if you can still be a carrier even after both vaccinations as you can still get covid but the severity should be less. Equally how long the vaccine protects you for. Lots of questions that will only come out over time.
  25. Back to the topic in hand There was a piece on BBC breakfast this morning talking about care homes and vaccines It discussed the need for families to see the residents, the care homes saying not yet, and vaccinations plus take up. It appears that currently 20% of staff haven't been vaccinated, some through not having the opportunity to get to a vaccination center or seeing a vaccinator. But some for reasons unknown are refusing the vaccine. Is that acceptable or for the sake of the residents health that the stuff are in charge of, should vaccination be compulsory to work in a care home ? Raises a whole raft of civil liberty questions, including flu vaccine take up and compulsory vaccination policies but what happens if one of the unvaccinated brings the virus in and half the residents die ?
