Interesting story today about potential rules around employing vaccinated staff, the minefield of current employees and how some countries in Europe are coping with vaccine rwfusers. Several fire engines on Barry Road at 6pm this evening
Spartacus replied to AlexanderG's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If it's the one on Barry Parade, it's been closed for about ten years, next to Barry road barbers and there was also a decent Chinese (ye wah) and an Indian plus a taxi office Them were the days -

Who knows And quite frankly, who cares as long as the pubs can reopen safely and we can go to them without infecting each other It will be a step back to normality , to meeting friends and feeling alive again instead of this half life we are in during lock down where everyone focuses on every small detail 🤔

Huggers I bet that looks awful especially as most communal bins (in tower blocks for example) are not maintained by the residents, tend to overflow between collections or be abused by non residents using them to dump all sorts of stuff, plus during a pandemic sharing bin space isn't a great idea. Just my observation

Ah Sorry it's the Friday before your second vaccine Better luck next pandemic 😂

A Friday in 2021 is the correct answer See you there then

As the UK relies on over 50% of its food to be imported, the concept of hard borders wouldn't have been practical as you can just imagine the headlines "Starving the many to save the few" A pandemic is a no win scenario and no matter what decisions a government makes, there will always be those who lose out.

Then when someone suggests > that the wealthy elite of Dulwich Village can > afford a taxi to the Dr's - you're outraged. > > Can't have it both ways ;) At the moment, just because someone lives in a house worth 1 or 2 million, it doesn't necessarily follow that they can afford to take taxis everywhere They may be struggling to pay the mortgage or have other financial constraints That said, why won't the council do a proper and lawful consultation on LTNs ? Are they running scared that residents will disapprove of the schemes forcing the clique of people who do want LTNs to have to back down ? If there isn't a consultation soon then what little faith there is in the council being unbiased will be eroded and the elections a year from now could be a bloodbath!

Life was so much easier when we could go to an actual shop and pick up what we needed rather than hanging around all day for deliveries that don't arrive ... I miss shopping 🙁

I agree but the simple amusement is that the advert shows a huge highly speced designer kitchen with all the gadgets that have never been used The meal boxes are a brilliant idea and I'm not knocking them, it's the dream kitchen concept that's the joke
-
There are a number of these "meal kits in a box" adverts on at the moment (especially as tomorrow is Valentine's Day) I am highly amused that in the advert the family sit around a huge centre island dining area in their ginormous state of the art designer kitchen where they obviously never normally cook and the meal box is a revelation to them all.... If I had a kitchen like that I would be cooking 24*7 in it, not buying in meal boxes 🤔

Isn't that the lyrics from a cure song?

Aye cat But no one has mentioned Lotus 123 yet Now that was a spreadsheet Maybe when pubs open it's one of the topics for conversation over beers .. although it will soon breakdown to how wide your columns are?

I do wonder if Foxy is German just by the way he writes It feels quite literal and Germanic (from experience of German friends) 🤔

Whilst it's a spoof, something like the attached wouldn't surprise me 😱

Foxy You wrote "Based on 3 pints per night, in 2020 I personally saved just under ?4,000 at Pub (EDT) prices" If you have saved that much, it implies you were sending it before and a logical conclusion is that you drink 3 pints a night... Maybe it's your style of writing but it's fairly clear to me that you weren't implying that if you were an average drinker on 3 pints a night ... 🤔
-
Trolley If you had followed the adventures of Foxy, now a major film waiting to be made, you would have understood more about the doctor references But as a person who is best described as a recent incumbent of Scandinavian folklore, including Norse mythology, or an old Norse being, you possibly didn't pick up on the finer points of the conversation 😱

rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Those you want to encourage more rat running by > removing the LTNS - do you want to replace them > with anything? A proper consultation on what's needed is the first thing 😃 Especially as LTNs force traffic to bottle neck and thus people use other roads as rat runs to avoid it .. For every action, there's a reaction and the council needs to consult and then work with the many not just the few
-
Heck foxy 21 pints a week (based on 3 pints a night) is 42 units of alcohol a week Would love to be a fly on the wall when you fill in medical forms ... "So Mr Foxy, you say you are a light to moderate drinker" says the doctor "hmmmmmmm" But it will be interesting to see what the fallout on pubs restaurants and hospitality will be following on from this global pandemic as some will close, some will survive, some will transform and with the pent up demand some new players may even emerge. Until the dust settles I guess nothing's certain.
