homeless man in wheelchair living outside harvester pub
sweetgirl replied to tigerranks's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Many people are watching this thread with interest.... Unfortunately this gentlemans former home is now boarded up.... It seems there are many forumites who are concerned for his welfare, can one of you not give him a room in your family home? Unfortunately I don't have the space to put him up.... I'm sure Some concerned person must have a spare room! He doesn't have to be a lodger or pay rent..... He can live as part of your family! Let's to something positive instead of discussing the situation on here.... -

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
sweetgirl replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James.... Something I'd like to raise with you is the lack of street bins in the area! It used to be quite normal to find one near a bus stop.... But they are gradually decreasing! I do remember once seeing something on the forum about it... But can't remember what. My son generally gives me his rubbish to dispose of, but it's difficult to dispose of it in the correct manner if no bins are in sight! Please fill me in as to what's going on regarding the bins. Can we get a replacement bin at the p13 stop outside Harris primary such plse? Thanks -
There's a burst water main on the etherow st. The buses are unable to use the road to turn themselves around.

rant about children crossing the road irresponsibly
sweetgirl replied to sweetgirl's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
just a quick update to all those who may be interested..... I called the school to let them know what I saw. apparently they've had similar calls from the public previously & the school is intending to do a assembly on road safety. -

@ nigella I have every intention of calling the school! unfortunately I can't call them until Thursday due to work commitments...... -
I was on a bus coming back from work today & witnessed two occasions where lone kids were what I considered to be playing on the road. two youngs lads on the grass verge opposite dog kennel hill sch.... could have been 11-12 years old. They crossed the road without no consideration for the oncoming vehicles. literally 10mins later, at the crossing near maxins 4 youngsters, 2 boys 2 girls, walked out in front of a car! I was waiting to cross with my lo, & I was not amused. I had to then try to explain to my lo what they had done & how dangerous it was. the car driver had to brake as they literally walked out in front of her car. she probably missed them by cms! one of the boys then said to the others, "I should've let her hit me innit" These were kids in uniform from the charter north Dulwich. I think parents need to take a little responsibility for their kids & their actions.... generally in an accident situation they almost always put the blame on the driver, first question would be if you looked around & checked your mirrors! as a driver I think pedestrians need to take more responsibility I see this type of behaviour on a regular basis as my work involves driving. The worst scenario I have seen is a mother with a pushchair & 4 kids in tow running across the road to catch a bus! something needs to happen..... maybe the kids need regular reminders about road safety as part of the school curriculum.

I have just moved my LO from Dulwich swim sch to Peckham pulse in the hope he progresses. he started Dulwich swim sch around easter & theres been no progression! this is mainly because of the fact theres a shortage of swimming instructors in Dulwich. until late july we had a different teacher every week! Theres also a block on children moving to advanced classes which if I remember correctly is because the children are not progressing in order to move up! I wonder why!!!! anyway we will be starting at Peckham pulse this week. I have spoken to the instructor & the manager about my expectations....... I want progress as this is what I'm paying for! lets see......

email pals at the hospital concerned & they should be able to direct you. alternatively email them with your nhs number & other personal details & ask about getting access to old records. Maybe worth querying if they have the records firstly dependant on how long ago it was. I recently went to guys for an op. to my surprise they had no records of me there. that was my birth hospital! Hope that helps.

I have over the years had many different experiences with donating to charity shops. my personal opinion is they are very ungrateful! Its been a couple of years now that I've stopped donating stuff.... instead I leave it outside my door where I feel it will be more appreciated. clothing I generally take to h&m.... the ?5 voucher is a great help towards my final bill.

Advice needed Travelling long-haul with a 3yr old
sweetgirl replied to Rose79's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I normally travel on a 9.30pm flight. I get to the airport earlier than need be.... let the little one run around to his hearts content, feed him..... then when we get on the plane I brush his teeth before take off.... put him in a onesie..... strap him up in his seat & just chill with him. within a hour of the flight hes gone! normally wakes up about an hour before we due to land. I've been doing this for about 4 years now.... hes 5 by the way. -
sometimes it helps to write things down....feelings, thoughts etc just as a release, until you get the right help that you need. I have in the past written down stuff & it has helped me massively I have kept my notes & every now & again.... if I come across the notes i'll have a read.... it reminds me of exactly how I felt & how far I've come since hope that helps.... at least in the short term

Le Nid - nursery on East Dulwich Grove
sweetgirl replied to Amytkwy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
After having a bad experience with my son in nursery I will never trust ofsted or any childcare provider! Unfortunately ofsted were prepared to reopen a suspended nursery when they shouldn't have. I was the person that drew ofsteds attention to staff not being crb checked. I always like to have a nosy in how a place is being run & I like to talk to staff to see if they are unhappy in their environment. Unfortunately most employers are not interested in keeping staff happy but more interested in the profit margins! In a profession such as childcare staff need to be pampered to some degree & made to feel worthy.... That's the only way our children will have a good standard of care -
