  9. A singer/songwriter/musician with the band Big Star, not very succecssful when they came out in the early 70s but very influential to bands such a Teenage Fanclub. I suppose you're going to ask who they are next? Oh and while I'm at it RIP Charlie Gillett.

That's because Atila's gone. He was just one big wind up merchant from start to finish. I'm sure there were a lot of us who did find it very hard to ignore his constant baiting and the result was it turned into a school playground with him playing the part of Biffa Bacon. I sincerely hope he won't be back.
  11. Oh yeah! Fantastic. I can't see anyone beating Barca at the moment and they still have Xavi to come back into the team. They've got to be a good bet for retaining the Champions League/European Cup. A joy to watch.
  12. LM. You've not been on this thread until recently so you would not have seen the constant abuse and aggressive tone that Atila adopted on here. Good riddance to him.

    a joke

Keep this in mind the next time you are about to repeat a rumour:- In ancient Greece (469 - 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom. One day an acquaintance ran up to him excitedly and said, "Socrates, do you know what I just heard about Diogenes?" "Wait a moment," Socrates replied, "Before you tell me I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test." "Triple filter?" asked the acquaintance. "That's right," Socrates continued, "Before you talk to me about Diogenes let's take a moment to filter what you're going to say. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?" "No," the man said, "Actually I just heard about it." "All right," said Socrates, "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about Diogenes something good?" "No, on the contrary..." "So," Socrates continued, "You want to tell me something about Diogenes that may be bad, even though you're not certain it's true?" The man shrugged, a little embarrassed. Socrates continued, "You may still pass the test though, because there is a third filter, the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about Diogenes going to be useful to me?" "No, not really." "Well," concluded Socrates, "If what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even Useful, why tell it to me or anyone at all?" The man was bewildered and ashamed. This is an example of why Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem. It also explains why Socrates never found out that Diogenes was shagging his wife.

    Robert Elms

SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Seconds after I typed that, Elms played > > this > > just to spite me Ha ha! That's a bloody good version though Sean. Written by your hero David Bowie, who also produced it, played sax on it, did backing vocals and the B-side was Watch That Man - also writted by Bowie. So, basically it's a David Bowie record with Lulu on lead vocals. Well done Robert.

Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards, if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book. Just ask Tony Blair.
