When I was 16 I hitched down to Devon for a week or so with a mate (now long since deceased, god rest his soul) and we spent the nights sleeping rough. I left a few days earlier than him because I'd blown all my money and got home from Salcombe Bay in about five lifts, one of which left me just outside Taunton where I enjoyed a couple of very strong pints of "proper" scrumpy (full of bacteria and whatnot). I got back out on the road, stuck my thumb out and almost immediately got a 90 mile lift but spent most of it passed out in the back seat.

Well if he can't train for Spurs because of his persistant knee problem he can hardly train for England can he. He spends his whole time when the other players are training receiving treatment. It's a terrible shame for the boy and I really feel for him. But I remember Paul McGrath (Man Utd, Aston Villa) had a similar problem and was able to turn out for the Republic Of Ireland. I'm siding with David on this. I felt DM's post was an ill-informed emotional outburst from a mother who obviously spends too much time reading Hello and OK magazine. She's entitled to her opinion though. I have a girlfriend who is dying of cancer at the moment, who is going through hell with dignity and grace. I lost my mother to cancer and also had two friends who died of cancer in their early 20s so if you think I give a flying fcuk about Jade Goody whom I've never met you're sadly mistaken. Yes, it's a shame that anyone of her age and with two small children dies so young but I didn't know the girl and so have no emotional attachment to her.
