  2. Sorry, Brendan. I think Stephen's a fine name for a pub, so's Emma come to think of it. I'm thinking of opening two pubs myself and call them Boris & Dirt or Doris & Burt can't remember which. Which do you prefer?
  3. What crap name for a pub.

    a joke

Dear Abby: I have been engaged for almost a year. I am to be married next month. My fiancee's mother is not only very attractive but really great and understanding. She is putting the entire wedding together and invited me to her place to go over the invitation list because it had grown a bit beyond what we had expected it to be. When I got to her place we reviewed the list and trimmed it down to just under a hundred...then she floored me. She said that in a month I would be a married man and that before that happened, she wanted to have sex with me. Then she just stood up and walked to her bedroom and on her way said that I knew where the front door was if I wanted to leave. I stood there for about five minutes and finally decided that I knew exactly how to deal with this situation. I headed straight out the front door... There, leaning against my car was her husband, my father-in-law to be. He was smiling. He explained that they just wanted to be sure I was a good kid and would be true to their little girl. I shook his hand and he congratulated me on passing their little test. Abby, should I tell my fiance what her parents did, and that I thought their "little test" was asinine and insulting to my character? Or should I keep the whole thing to myself including the fact that the reason I was walking out to my car was to get a condom? Lucky Louie.

  13. Yeah! I have. Last time was about 25 years ago though and it was a bit rough, no make that really rough and apparently still is according to someone I know who uses it now and again but that's what you get with pubs in the middle of an estate. Just think of it as The Jockey, the pub in Shameless.

  18. Ahem! Been going down the Dog (Crown & Greyhound to you newbies) since I was 15 so I still feel it's my local. I also like the Guinness in the Castle as it's the best locally for that but I am an infrequent visitor there. I like the CPT for the football and it's friendly barstaff, the EDT I also like a lot, Inside 72 occasionally (great sound system and eclectic mix of music), Black Cherry for cocktails and Green & Blue for fine wine. I haven't been to the Clockhouse since it was done up about 18 months ago but used to enjoy sitting outside there on the odd occasion in the summer and watching the world go by with a few pints of Youngs Best. Best for food though is the Rye Hotel.
  19. Yeah! We're gonna whup you sorry arses again.>:D
  20. So it would seem. Far too many on here for my liking. I feel totally outnumbered but at least I've got the bragging rights this week.
  21. Well K, if you're getting on the train don't get off at East Dulwich, North Dulwich station is much nearer the Dog and just a short walk away.

  24. I'm definitely going, but unfortunately I won't get down the Dog until 9pm as I have to work late at the office. What about you KK. You've talked a lot but are you actually going to show up?
