No. That was another pub 100 yards around the corner.

Bloody shame. I loved it in there. Used have plenty of lock-ins. I reckon it closed around the end of the 80s. Sadly, I can't find any old pix of it, only the refurb into flats.

I'm talking about 1980/81 when I was a regular. Lovely West Indian fella called Alvin used to run it. His missus, a white English woman, can't remember her name, used to make lovely homemade Jamaican patties and serve 'em behind the bar. Had a great jukebox, dart board and pool tables upstairs. There was always half a dozen good pumps of real ale too. Old Peculiar and Fullers ESB were what I used to drink in there then. Great pub. Sadly, long gone I fear.

I shall be walking down to ASDA on Rye Lane for my bargains in future. The stroll down there will do me good anyway.

Had several pints of Timothy Taylor's Landlord earlier. I was going to hit the vino with dinner but I think I've had an elegant sufficiency already.

AQM, you seem to have got a bit of bee in your bonnet these past few days. Anyway, Man Of Kent. Went there once about eight years ago. I had an OK time. Didn't like it much though. Haven't been back.

Quick little bus ride DC. I've friends who've been regulars for years. Best pub in Beckenham by a country mile.

The Plough are starting up acoustic nights on Sundays. White Horse in Peckham has the excellent Easycome on Wednesdays.

I agree Nigello. The sooner those places on FHR are done up and reopened the better. I reckon a butcher's would work well there.

I really liked the old Wishing Well much much more than the New Victoria Inn... not my cup of tea at all, so I never go there now.

It's also nice that you can sit outside HB&B and enjoy an ale or two now that the sun's out.
