  4. JohnL I think they have decided not to change the name - they are keeping 'the palmerston' and making out it has just closed for a refurb and is open again 'under new management' which is a polite way of saying they turfed out a business and are riding on their success.
  5. yes I saw that too! they have not changed the name so as you say, they are riding on the coattails of the ousted business def not visiting...
  6. Being looked after by fun fair p
  7. well the wording on their poster is somewhat questionable - it suggests the pub is closing for a refurb and then reopening - not a new business altogether opening on that site..
  8. Its all ok! The posters in the window say The palmerston is only closed for a refurb and is reopening At the end of june! No mention of the spotty pig at all - hirrah!!
  9. So no one gives a toss about people investing, grafting and building a reputation in a non trendy area??the lack Of loyalty here is mind boggling. This is my ?beef? Large chain behaving badly? Sometimes they need to know it is not ok The poor new manager is not responsible but he needs to-be in a position to feed back to the money boys That the grockels have an opinion.
  10. It's the principal.... local business grafted to build up a gastropub before Lordship lane was a 'destination' not everyone's cup of tea but something different at the time. Having built up a good business and reputation - rug pulled from underthem so that the brewery can ride the wave of their success with a 'chain' which supposedly gives the locals a pub after a business has been failing there. so much that is not right about this whole business. Also suspect the Palmerston have been very diplomatic in not reporting the shenanigans that have been going on with the dealings with Enterprise....
  11. Anyone know him? Please pm
  12. shame a small local business has been shut down in favour of a themed chain. they won't be getting my business
  13. Ikea - lasted years - we when we did our kitchen extension in our previous house the builders were able to dismantle them and re assemble as part of the new kitchen, adding the new doors. I understand they have changed the sizing now so we prob cannot do that again. The carcasses have been very robust. probably not high end enough for alot of folk but done us ok. love to know what you ended up with!!!

  19. God that bloody man - he is ruining the commemorations in portsmouth!! Massive security screening out the public wanting to pay their respects to make way for a draft dodging Bigot, mysogonist, all round scumbag.
  20. My son is worried about a possibly injured pigeon outside the dulwich library. Seems sad to leave it and the rspca website does not help much. Any ideas about Wildlife rescue?
  21. ditto - tenants not responsible for reasonable repairs. if you had smashed it with a sledgehammer then there might be an issue but that is probably not the case is it....
  22. But apparently we will have to queue to have the trolleys checked against the scanning device..
