  1. Went to sainsbos today - very calm and organised. People being very careful to keep their distance. Shelves well stocked - except for the odd bits - chick peas and flour in particular. Some veggies missing but plenty of other stock.
  2. I was thinking the exact same thing the other day- trying to steer well clear of the clouds emitting from a gentleman walking down the street.
  3. Many of us are in the lucky position to have a cleaner. We are all up against it, but may I suggest that you pay your cleaner a small 'retainer'. These people have not been covered by the recent Budget announcements. I appreciate we are all working our how the heck to manage (I am self employed my self) but I feel we should be supporting those people who work for themselves. My cleaner is too anxious to travel on public transport (quite understandably) but by being careful she is losing her livlihood. best wishes to everyone and keep safe and well
  4. Today I walked my dog in the park. Lots of people out and about but avoiding each other -I would say a good 3 metres apart. will continue in this manner until we are instructed otherwise. handwashing at every opportunity and working from home (luckeily in a position to do so.
  5. The problem is that the hospitality trade is hanging on by its fingernails. If they do not open, they cannot pay their staff. These staff need this money to live. I guarantee that most hospitality based businesses do not have enough in the bank to pay the wage bill for more than 2 weeks - so there is the conundrum. They are reluctant take out the govt backed loans as they will not really be able to carry these going forward (anecdotally heard of someone who applied for one and the interest rates was 18% - maybe the new rate had not been noted) but there is the conundrum. Businesses WANT to support their staff but do not have the means to do so - esp after the lean months on jan/feb/march. Alot are waiting for the spring/summer surge of weddings and parties to refill the coffers. The economics of fear will rule.
  6. The dulwich village junction really has been kicked up - confusion and gridlock if someone wants to turn right into court lane - the whole junction is frequently frozen. I suspect they have not revisited this and probably would not admit it is a mess. Heaven help us with this next round....
  7. Here we go - why am I not surprised..... usual council cock up and no doubt the traffic wardens will be buzzing around like wasps issuing tickets as fast as they can.
  8. Just enquiring for a friend - is there a meet up group for new mums? Thx
  9. It is not the pubs decision regarding under 18?s. All pubs are subject to these rules. If they breach this they are in danger of losing their licence. Every pub in the area have this clause. Given how blooming tough it is to run a pub with the incredibly ever increasing overheads I am sure they would love the opportunity to make more money with under 18 nights but it is not an option they can pursue. As someone else said - look at the history of this pub please
  10. Picking rye grass /weeds out of a field of oats. ?1.6 per day. (Suffolk) Bring yr own packed lunch and no loos.... we were young so it was brilliant fun!
  11. So what ?
  12. The traffic wardens on bikes were buzzing around peckham rye car park yesterday. There is a two week grace period. All those poor souls in the CPZ zones can expect the same.
  13. If they put the food out on more sustainable material - paper plate or newspaper? WhT not put an anonymous note saying You appreciate their love of animals but clear up after?
  14. Redpost I must take issue with your suggestions regarding getting a blue badge. A friend with MS (which is a known debilitating illness) has had their blue badge removed. They are having increasing difficulty walking. I think you are unaware of the true challenges faced by disabled people in these times of austerity.
  15. but the signs in Peckham say that it is not happening until april and there will be a clear 2 weeks notice period so everyone is aware - which is different to what the above says
  16. I understand the business owners in the village are far from happy......
  17. Yes - my dog had this between Xmas and new year. It was very swift - lethargy with vomiting and diarrhoea (with quite a lot of blood in poo) taken to emergency vets who admitted him and put on a drip. It took him a week to get back to normal, with several follow ups. They had no idea what it was (I was thinking poisoning but there was nothing showing) Was on antibiotics plus other gut supportive medicines. Right as rain now but pretty scary.
  18. Still waiting to hear the pro?s to leaving. The noodles who are usually interviewed are the mindless goons who spout the ?getting our country back? but without any explanation from what. someone please tell me what the benefits actually are Edited to remove swear word...
  19. There are still a lot of businesses who need to bank cash however the post office now offer this facility.
  20. The private schools have slightly different term times to the state schools. When the state schools close the traffic is dramatically reduced. There?s the problem ....
  21. I have filled in the questionnaire - this looks a nightmare - extremely long convoluted journeys to get from A to B. I predict very slow traffic on the main roads, with increased air pollution due to it. they managed to mess up the junction in the village (people not realising who has the right of way - also the bike lights send you through the red light for the cars, but it is also the same light for the crossing - I have cycled thru when the green man was illuminated because there is nothing to signal this to the bike rider.
  22. Yes agree with first mate - I have a friend who has had a blue bade for 15 years (they have MS which is getting worse) they were recently 'assessed' and because they can walk a short distance without assistance (we are talking a few metres here) it was removed. I am encouraging an appeal but the whole process was so upsetting they are reluctant to do anything at the moment.
  23. Not new I?m afraid. Kingsdale (and others) picked off on dulwich park 10 years ago.
  24. Is this do they can cut the trees?
