  5. What a lovely gesture GE pub - perhaps all parents could suggest their childrrn take refuge in Any pub in the area. Im sure most would be happy to assist.
  6. Thats a shame. I bought two iphones on the edf which were both completely fine so dont beat yourself up. I think most people are fine - maybe a note to admin?
  7. Thats a 999 job i reckon
  8. I noticed the pond as well today - I think these very high temperatures are what is causing the problem. I do not think the whole park is a mess - it is a large area with a much diminished team, but the grassed areas are well looked after, and the different planting areas are lovely. Yes, some bind weed and other pesky weeds creeping in, but I walk there most mornings, and still find something to delight in each day. the sexby pond could do with a clear out - perhaps the friends of PR could organise a volunteers day? (I'd happily get stuck in) On a different note, there are so many different types of ducklings and goslings in the main pond - they are a delight to watch grow. There are also some huge carp (please tell me they don;t eat baby ducks) and a range of different size turtles (terrapins?) sunning themselves.
  9. apologies if I missed it in a previous thread but do we have any idea how much Southwark Council got for this event, and how this money is spent (i.e. allocated to parks etc) I agree that the event seemed very well organised and the park is pretty much ok, but I echo houseoflego's points about the ankle twisting bits - if the grass is very long one may not spot them in the future.I am sure the other bits will recover soon enough.
  10. What I just don't understand is how this can be such a cock up? surely people who run a railway want to move as many people about as easily as possible. So why reduce trains at rush hour and reduce people's ability to go about their business/working life, able to use public transport? we cannot all squeeze onto buses? trains have historically been the backbone of the commuters. As much as we would like to - not everyone can get a job close to home. it seems to have been a monumental error and heads should roll (metaphorically) or some explanation of what on earth has gone wrong.
  11. Saw a chap on gardeners world swear by garlic spray - boil garlic cloves in boiling water. Steep overnight, strain and spray Over the plants. It makes the leaves taste revoltingb(to slugs and snails at least!) I feel your pain
  12. That sounds like a stag beetle
  13. I know that bonfires are not banned - but there is an incredibly smoky bonfire polluting alot of gardens in upland road and friern road. It just seems a bit selfish to stoke it up on a sunny friday evening. Not sure if anythibg can be done. More a matter of consideration for others
  14. Peckham must be due to all the roadworks and traffic diversions. Agree the dv junction is problematic. There needs to be a yellow box it the bttom of court lane. Some cars cannot turn right As the way is blocked by cars waiting at the lights - which in turn backs up to the whole junction. Similarly The way ahead fron turney to calton is so wibbly wobbly that i have had cars going in the oppo direction Turn right without realising who has the right of way.
  15. I believe she has bern found now? Fingers crossed
  16. James Thank you for stirling work over the years! Very best wishes
  17. Of course !! Make life as difficult as possible and try and catch people out. Well done southwark council They need to rearrange some one ways into two ways to make navigating that area possible. With the double whammy Of camberwell grove shut the diversions are mind boggling. But i suspect that s half the satisfaction for the council.
  18. How dreadful! And how irresponsible.idiots like these ruin things for the majority Of decent dog owners. I hope you find the culprit and best wishes for your dog. In all the hoo haa surrounding nunhead cemetary do you think they may have cctv at the entrance?
  19. Now thats bizarre - i woke up to a doorbell (in friern rd) but thought it Was a dream!!
  20. I think we all have to respect and be aware in shared spaces, but there is also confusion about on and off lead areas. As i understand it, in dulwich park the main circuit and anywhere outside of this are Off lead, anywhere in side is on lead. Similarly the hire bikes are not allowed inside this area.
  21. Oh dear thats a shame. Best of luck to them - they used to have shop in camberwell as well?
  22. Thats great news - been worried about that little one
  23. Yes please keep us posted. Best wishes and fingers crossed
  24. I think its a measure of our society, how we treat animals. I am delighted that there are so many people who are genuinely concerned for the well being of animals and are trying to make sure that it is ok. could be a dog, a cat, a bird, it does not matter.
