Yes more flipping twiddling. Accident info would be useful. And pity the local businesses who will bear the brunt of roadworks making their businesses less accessible to passing trade. I remember when there were some very lengthy road works there some years ago which hit them very hard (one of my favourite clothes shops just had to give up in the end with just too many disruptions.

Closure of Melbourne Grove to through traffic - new petition

Closure of Melbourne Grove to through traffic - new petition
tiddles replied to tiddles's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I just wish they would stop tinkering. If they introduce those massive build outs at junctions or the usual "crack a nut with a sledgehammer" yellow lines extending from any junction then the parking for residents is going to be dreadful. The massive build outs reduce passing points. I am not aware of many crashes so if speed is the issue, just put up a load of speed cameras. I am fed up with huge amounts of money being spent by the council which end up inconveniencing people and invariably making junctions worse. A lot of people faffing about justifying their existence with costly reports employing a load of jargon that seems to be interpreted however you want, with reference to new dogmas/rules/reports and regulations that no one has heard of before. They may want to introduce a cpz, ban cars, paint everywhere with double yellows, cut down or remove as many trees as possible and let large companies and developers do whatever they fancy but do stuff all for our small independent traders, but let us hope there are enough local people who can stop this from happening. Oh dear, a bit grumpy and not even a glass of wine to hand. .... -
Dog mess all over Amott, Gowlett and Keston roads
tiddles replied to grancabrona's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Grok I think that is rather unfair. It is the responsibility of the dog owner to pick up the poo. How many children have trodden in this stuff? how many buggies/scooters/trikes have not spotted the offending mess until too late? What about those people who are blind or partially sighted? Also, the grass is often long so you cannot see poo until you are upon it. I don't think you can blame the people who have the misfortune to tread in it. I am pretty sure they are not doing so to get sympathy. -

no excuses whatsoever for not picking up. simple really -
Both my children attend Kingsdale and they are saddened and horrified by what happened. I'm sorry Ratty but I cannot agree with you regarding schools in south london. Most of my friend's children attend state schools in all the boroughs you mention, and they are all delightful young people with nice groups of friends (from all walks of life) with Schools doing their best to let them achieve their potential. The picture painted by ratty bears no resemblance to the neighbourhood we know or the London I inhabit. I am not trying to minimise what happened yesterday, but to try to stem the image of 'tooled up' gangs marauding through the streets. apologies if I appear naive.

yes I saw these being cut down and they were clearly diseased. Really hopping they will be replaced.

And what are the businesses who need to regularly pay in cash to do? I suspect they will all move to barclays, until they close too?.. -
Professional dog walkers a menace
tiddles replied to Ben Reeve-Lewis's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry to hear this Ben. What time do you walk? I walk most days in peckham and have never had my dog set upon? I certainly see a one or two dog walkers, but their dogs seem perfectly happy amongst themselves. Are you walking a lady dog who is coming into season? I am not suggesting it is your fault, but just intrigued. -

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
tiddles replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James Trees!!!! what on earth is this not replacing trees thing? Have you seen Rob Millar's post? this was a small tree it is not as if any pedestrians/buggies/wheelchair uses were being hindered in any way. How long before they manage to weasel their way into removing as many trees as they can. -
Cripes Rob Miller I know exactly where this is and had wondered what on earth had happened. A lovely little tree disappeared. This is a quiet road, so why the heck can't they replace it? Southwark does seem to have gone a bit bonkers of late doesn't it? lets watch barry road and see how long before that beautiful avenue is destroyed?..

Roadworks in Lordship Lane at end of North Cross Road
tiddles replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Councillor Smith thank you for coming on board. I think many people feel that the contractors Southwark employ are allowed to get away with a lot. The Road contractors seem particularly inefficient with little or no consequences for shoddy or overly long projects, and the housing contractors appear to be almost criminal. Could we have your thoughts on the double yellow lines across driveways. This seems another initiative to make things as irritating as possible for car owners. I think most people feel quite frustrated with the amount of fiddling about that the council seems to undertake. No doubt spending quite a lot of money for little or no gain - north cross road, townley road, to name but two. -
Oh Good God. I cannot work out if they are genuine idiots, or are having a laugh at seeing how much they can mess thinks about. I can only assume that none of the people involved in any of the decision making live around here. The townley road fiasco, the melbourne grove muddle, double yellow lines across driveways, 20mph on major routes. the south circular was CHAOS when turney road was closed from the bridge by rosendale. Give me strength.

how awful. I have been there several times and they have been lovely. The chap running the show was charm itself when dealing with a rather difficult customer. Sounds like a completely diff member of staff. Absolutely no excuse for that type of behaviour at all.
-
I have often felt that many vehicles travel too fast down barry road, however I feel the 20mph limit is not appropriate and Speed humps would be a disaster for buses etc. Re instate the 30mps and why not just have a few speed cameras? one at each end and one or in the middle.

Sixth forms - shld this be part of secondary consideration?

And Charter are not the only school that do this? -
no one at either of those organisations give a toss, so that's why they can vent here. At least there is a liklyhood that someone will acknowledge the complaint!

Closure of Melbourne Grove to through traffic - new petition
tiddles replied to tiddles's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I was going to sign the petition, but as I am not a resident of Melbourne Grove or the roads leading off it, I wasn't sure if I was eligible or not? I live in East Dulwich tho? what do you think? -
If it was a wedding that ended at 12.30 = well, let it go. Does not sound like a regular occurrence so surely not really worth making a song and dance about.
