  1. Ah- the one that is near the stream and where the footballers store their nets? Many thanks
  2. So sorry to hear this - how sad. Could you let us have a bit more info as to where this was (which fallen down tree?) I kniw is lots of dog walkers who would appreciate any warning Many thx
  3. If you lost a phone this morning in dulwich park it has been handed into the bike hire shop
  4. Just had a big clear out of books and trogged down to the book bins in sainsbos car park - no longer there. Are there any other ones about?
  5. Hi I am looking for a Gcse science tutor for my year 10 son. Are you or do you know someone who could help him with double science? Many thanks
  6. Yes I noticed this particular stretch of road today (it is not my normal route) but it was dreadful. On the way back from our dog walk, I picked up 9 piles of poo between etherow and goodrich on the right hand side of the road. It looks like the culprits are just two dogs (won't go into details) but this is ridiculous! It should not be anywhere, but there are two schools nearby so loads of children, scooters, buggies etc run the gauntlet on their way to school.
  7. I think if you are a single person, or a couple, then a water meter will probable save you money. For a family , the costs will increase. My relations in Brighton had to have one, and their bills have significantly increased. If I was looking to buy a house, I would certainly think that having a meter was a negative.
  8. I don't think that everyone in the planning dept can actually read plans. There are a number of recent developments which have been built (so I assume approved) that do not comply with Southwark regulations (min outside Space etc) it is this hotch potch approach coupled with their lack of organisation that ensures developers can slip thru what they fancy.
  9. Just up the road from the great exhibition oppo shops?
  10. If you know of Darrell Morgan, could you get him to PM me - I have some post in error which is not junk.
  11. Get a job in a pub?
  12. I understand that a lot of the smaller shops who rent from the dulwich estate in dulwich village and west dulwich are facing approx 10K rent hikes this year.
  13. sorry to be dim, but how does one test speed?
  14. if admissions were based on distance, very few East dulwich children would get in? It would be br most children Who live the other side of the south circular?
  15. Yes more flipping twiddling. Accident info would be useful. And pity the local businesses who will bear the brunt of roadworks making their businesses less accessible to passing trade. I remember when there were some very lengthy road works there some years ago which hit them very hard (one of my favourite clothes shops just had to give up in the end with just too many disruptions.
  16. Hi James, The trees thing was a reference to the small trees being removed in dunstans and friern road (the ones that I know about) . Kind regards grumpy riddles
  17. I just wish they would stop tinkering. If they introduce those massive build outs at junctions or the usual "crack a nut with a sledgehammer" yellow lines extending from any junction then the parking for residents is going to be dreadful. The massive build outs reduce passing points. I am not aware of many crashes so if speed is the issue, just put up a load of speed cameras. I am fed up with huge amounts of money being spent by the council which end up inconveniencing people and invariably making junctions worse. A lot of people faffing about justifying their existence with costly reports employing a load of jargon that seems to be interpreted however you want, with reference to new dogmas/rules/reports and regulations that no one has heard of before. They may want to introduce a cpz, ban cars, paint everywhere with double yellows, cut down or remove as many trees as possible and let large companies and developers do whatever they fancy but do stuff all for our small independent traders, but let us hope there are enough local people who can stop this from happening. Oh dear, a bit grumpy and not even a glass of wine to hand. ....
  18. I think this is irrelevant Grok. She (he) was simply describing the person and what they were doing (perceived by many to be well out of order)
  19. Grok I think that is rather unfair. It is the responsibility of the dog owner to pick up the poo. How many children have trodden in this stuff? how many buggies/scooters/trikes have not spotted the offending mess until too late? What about those people who are blind or partially sighted? Also, the grass is often long so you cannot see poo until you are upon it. I don't think you can blame the people who have the misfortune to tread in it. I am pretty sure they are not doing so to get sympathy.
  20. no excuses whatsoever for not picking up. simple really
  21. Both my children attend Kingsdale and they are saddened and horrified by what happened. I'm sorry Ratty but I cannot agree with you regarding schools in south london. Most of my friend's children attend state schools in all the boroughs you mention, and they are all delightful young people with nice groups of friends (from all walks of life) with Schools doing their best to let them achieve their potential. The picture painted by ratty bears no resemblance to the neighbourhood we know or the London I inhabit. I am not trying to minimise what happened yesterday, but to try to stem the image of 'tooled up' gangs marauding through the streets. apologies if I appear naive.
  22. yes I saw these being cut down and they were clearly diseased. Really hopping they will be replaced.
  23. Brume - no question
  24. And what are the businesses who need to regularly pay in cash to do? I suspect they will all move to barclays, until they close too?..
  25. Sorry to hear this Ben. What time do you walk? I walk most days in peckham and have never had my dog set upon? I certainly see a one or two dog walkers, but their dogs seem perfectly happy amongst themselves. Are you walking a lady dog who is coming into season? I am not suggesting it is your fault, but just intrigued.
