  1. This would be a disaster all round - to dramatically reduce parking all round - I do not wish my neighbours to suffer because of my pre-existing dropped kerb (and we often allow neighbours to park across our drive plus of course any visitors or tradesmen visiting local homes). Either the council need to rethink their wording (i.e. the double yellows apply to road crossing points and its a misunderstanding) or the wind up department is thinking how they can annoy as many local people as possible with the added bonus of a parking ticket bonanza. I look forward to James' feedback.
  2. I don't understand why people think it is ok to take dogs into a dog free zone? If it is dark, then if their dog does something, they are less likely to be able to find it and clear up (tho I suspect they probably wouldn't) As has been mentioned, goose green, where the dog could have a proper runaround is just across the way. I don't understand why the OP is getting grief for thinking this is unacceptable - I'm a dog owner and I certainly don't.
  3. We used to set of at six in the evening, in pjs and cosy blankets and then drive thru the night so they would sleep most of the way. not sure if that is an option
  4. just popped round to make an appointment and the dentists is shut until August 18th. No one is taking bookings or dealing with post apparently.
  5. perhaps admin can removed the erroneous poster? thank you for the updates regarding the regeneration and plans.
  6. need to replace the hoover and rather like the idea of a cordless 'stick' model. Does anyone have any particular recommendations? Can they really do the job of the good old plug in?
  7. aha so that is why is was so hard to get a non urgent appointment with her!! she is good tho!
  8. yes some peeps seem to take pleasure in being so snippy. I rather liked the hoardings - better than general flyposting and random graffiti Does that mean I'm a poltroon? don't know what it is but quite like the sound of it?
  9. there is one on croxted road too - near the petrol station
  10. perhaps just waiting to cross the road??
  11. sorry to be so out of touch -= but no slow trains from pr to victoria, stopping at battersea any more?
  12. I have deleted the hilarious mens seniors doubles match from yesterday in error on our virgin box. Is there anyway I can get it back? seriously in disgrace??.
  13. just williams by the goose green roundabout have loads and I am sure the bucket shop (farmers?) further up have some bits and bobs good luck
  14. Many years ago I witnessed armed police pounce on a chap in Tooting - it was a startling experience so I am not at all surprised your godson was so alarmed. Lots of shouting men tussling with someone. We realised very quickly that they were police (all unmarked cars and non uniform) but it would be really scary if you thought it was something else. hope he's ok
  15. moving is always stressful - sounds like classic case of being overwhelmed!! breath deeply and best of luck!
  16. the stuff from the vets - Advocate or Advantage - not cheap but very effective good luck
  17. Still want to find the old guys!!!
  18. a fabulous evergreen climber (clematis almondii) with other flowering clematis that flower though out the summer. I had an almondii on the wall oppo our kitchen down a rather dark alley and it did fantastically well, plus you get delicious white scented flower in the spring/summer vertical wall garden - loads off different plants in pockets that create a fabulous living wall. good luck!
  19. aha a lovely chance for clear out!! will have a good old rummage and dig out the decent stuff as I am sure we have loads knocking about. a lovely idea as well !!
  20. I think West Dulwich is probably easier for schools if you are not going private (elm green/dunraven/charter) Larger houses for your money. West norwood high street is not far away - grittier than Lordship lane but lots of useful shops and some nice coffee places. They also have the monthly 'feast', are also getting a cinema and have recently had a sports centre refurbed, many family friendly pubs. I think East Dulwich has peaked and LL will be a victim of its own success and become more like Northcote road with its chains and parking charges.
  21. what a shame. Does anyone know where the old car wash team went? If they are not too far away I would love to continue to use them.
  22. How horrible for you and I quite understand how concerned you must feel. Even if the person did not feel able to have a quiet conversation with you - a simple note would have been fine, but to threaten your animals is dreadful. Glad to hear you reported it and hope it was all a case of someone going over the top in the heat of the moment and sincerely regretting their actions now.
  23. great outcome all round it would seem. Well done for your commitment to this!
  24. what about the poor dog?? who has installed him?
