  1. crikey - paxton green has just had a major re-doing? what on earth are they doing now?? this should be interesting
  2. that is exactly what I thought dulwichquine - I think the no right turn could actually become dangerous as people race around finding alternatives (one of which is bound to be 3 point turns in daft places actually making it more dangerous for the many children at several different schools) I pity Gilkes crescent
  3. Lee - couldn't agree with you more regarding the faceless suits who make their random decisions- will they be in a good or bad mood today ? thumbs up or thumbs down? I appreciate that decision making is often much more complicated than it would seem but you certainly struck a cord with me?? keep up the good work
  4. oh lawks not more double yellow lines?.. sorry but I don't think this is the answer to that junction. The double whammy of a bend and a hill.
  5. Offer suggests choice - one can choose to have double yellow or not. I think they are enforcing double yellows which is not the same.
  6. the discussion seems to me to be about consideration for all road users, especially on narrow roads and near schools where there have been some incidents involving people who really should know better. simples not the rights and wrongs of car drivers versus cyclists in general
  7. also, one can be particularly brilliant in one field and not another. We have a child who is fabulous at humanities, but is a completely dunce with numbers. Their brain is wired in a different way - and it would seem daft to me to exclude a very strong pupil on the basis of a failing in a field they they will not (and never will) be able to pursue any further in the future. They will still have to keep trying to take the blasted Maths GCSE ad infinitum in order to go to university (if that is what they want to do) We too looked round all the sixth forms but ended up staying put - confirming it as our favourite. I think even if you are really sure, do have a look about - its good to get a feel for what you like or not. best of luck to all the parents traipsing around the sixth form open days!! I have to admit I was impressed with all the local schools.
  8. And they are usually just sitting on the floor - whats the problem. I totally get why they cannot go into a butchers?..
  9. How do you do pulled pork in it?
  10. Rather worryingly the map seems to indicate my house....
  11. They are back. Mr Chowdri is particularly brilliant.would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone
  12. Hi James any feedback about the dropped kerb confusion? either a)is there is a misunderstanding in some quarters re yellow lines (they don't really intend to do this it is just a clarification issue) or b) southwark are trying to implement a new plan which is probably going to cause a lot of aggravation all round and c) if b is the case, how can we go about entering into discussion regarding this unannounced change in policy - one it would seem not implemented by other boroughs. many thanks ps hope you are feeling better
  13. completely bonkers. We can all see that it that it is going to cause havoc but for some reason they cannot? they (the council) seem to be trying to create as many problems as they can. Is there any way that the council can be held accountable/enter into some sort of debate about how useful their policies actually are (apart from when they are elected - lets face it this certainly was not on any manifesto) Mr Barber and other councillors - any ideas? (not holding you responsible but any idea about how to get those who are responsible to account for their actions)
  14. hear hear Pippa21. Couldn't agree more.
  15. no I still have to do the fasting blood test for cholesterol - apparently it is to do with different types? Its a right pain though (the fasting not the blood test!)
  16. apparently you are meant to twist them out.
  17. yes we second the bus app for the p13 - an absolute godsend. I would say it is a pretty good bus service now they run everyone 15 minutes
  18. does anyone have a contact number other than the usual?
  19. This would be a disaster all round - to dramatically reduce parking all round - I do not wish my neighbours to suffer because of my pre-existing dropped kerb (and we often allow neighbours to park across our drive plus of course any visitors or tradesmen visiting local homes). Either the council need to rethink their wording (i.e. the double yellows apply to road crossing points and its a misunderstanding) or the wind up department is thinking how they can annoy as many local people as possible with the added bonus of a parking ticket bonanza. I look forward to James' feedback.
  20. I don't understand why people think it is ok to take dogs into a dog free zone? If it is dark, then if their dog does something, they are less likely to be able to find it and clear up (tho I suspect they probably wouldn't) As has been mentioned, goose green, where the dog could have a proper runaround is just across the way. I don't understand why the OP is getting grief for thinking this is unacceptable - I'm a dog owner and I certainly don't.
  21. We used to set of at six in the evening, in pjs and cosy blankets and then drive thru the night so they would sleep most of the way. not sure if that is an option
  22. just popped round to make an appointment and the dentists is shut until August 18th. No one is taking bookings or dealing with post apparently.
  23. perhaps admin can removed the erroneous poster? thank you for the updates regarding the regeneration and plans.
