  1. Off kilter, but don't understand Wandsworth's new policy
  2. Yes always good to retain valuable land. I am not sure of your example though - The housing development (under which the school has a large dinner hall/performance area, art rooms and smaller specialist class rooms as well as special needs equipped washrooms, used to house the old school dinner prep areas and a derelict house. The area built on was never part of the playground. They managed to retain most of the playground, gain nice new facilities, as well as provide in the air space social housing.
  3. signed. The estate is going to be depriving a fellow albeit less privileged educational organisations of valuable space in the name of profit. not very 'charitable' of them.
  4. There was a camera car sitting on lordship lane at ten past nine this morning with his engine running monitoring the bus lane. I asked him why the engine was running and he said the equipment might stop, but he was running a low emission car so it didn't matter. I don't mind emergency vehicles so much, but not non essentials. If that stretch of bus lane is felt to be badly abused, then shove a camera on a pole.
  5. hmm my dog insists on going round anticlockwise?..he is born and bred SE22 so he must be correct
  6. and one by the skate park on peckham rye
  7. Oh what a shame - loved that place (and we were regulars) - loved the food and the service. I wish them all the very best.
  8. oo goody
  9. who is it on with?
  10. celia hammond
  11. I loved the series from the 70s, but think this one is better
  12. this is my 'beef' penquin68. I do have a dropped kerb as do my neighbours (they were existing we did not put them in) however, we have an informal agreement with all our neighbours that they can park there. It also is a good spot for large lorries to unload, scaffolders, the post vans, and of course visiting tradespeople. I do not have a problem with people parking across it, if they leave a note on the windscreen saying where they are should I need to get out. If double yellows are introduced, what happens then? complete chaos looking for a parking space, fleets of wardens looking to meet their targets, and no doubt a council looking 'solve' the problem (and line their pockets) with a CPZ. I know that apparently the costs of the CPZ are admin or parking related, but I really do not buy that. I have a colleague who pays approx ?400 for a parking permit in west norwood. It still does not quarantee a place to park.
  13. How unbelievably awful. I walk my dog in that park nearly every day (generally mornings but in the nicer weather sometimes afternoons) and I can honestly say I have never had a problem. I don't recognise the dogs you describe, but shall certainly keep and eye out. You must be so shocked by this, and your poor daughter!! please don't stop walking there - and I think First Mate is right about trying to help her over the emotional damage. Maybe a call to the Rob the Dulwich Dog Man about how to take things forward so your Dog can enjoy walks again (when physically recovered) I cannot believe the man did nothing - thats almost more shocking? I really hope this walker is caught and he learns how to take responsibility for his dogs. very best wishes to you all.
  14. Otta - I think most people would prefer a co-ed school- the Harris Crystal Palace is very oversubscribed.
  15. How brilliant that they were able to run over to the adventure playground - a place where children feel safe, protected and free to be themselves. Well done to you all and best of luck with all the plans.
  16. I love the way the elevations are upside down
  17. I am sure they are trying every avenue!!
  18. we drove = very simple, and it is brilliant!! sometimes Groupon have an offer but I am not sure that they offer much of a discount. There is one heck of a gift shop (serious ???) so better prepare them in advance
  19. http://www.grono.co.uk I know a landscaper who swears by this
  20. Hi James any news about the enforced imposition of yellow lines across residential dropped kerbs? many thanks
  21. I second air-hop!! I took two teenagers who had the most amazing time thoroughly recommend
  22. talk about shooting the messenger!! actually, sometimes confronting the perpetrator can end in right old mess. I had a polite and I thought friendly word with someone (who I thought was nice neighbour ) about a howling and distressed dog once, and they threatened to shove my teeth down my throat. So I quite understand someone not wanting the face to face thing. But perhaps, if the 'guilty party' reads the edf they might recognise themselves. and think twice about doing it again. please don't attack the people who report such antisocial behaviour
  23. hi James there are new mini cameras attached to the lights at the junction with dulwich village, calton avenue and turney road. Just wondered what these were for? If they are for people who jump the lights, all well and good, but after the townley road episode, I just wondered if they were 'monitoring' for some other plans?.. many thanks ps I did have a perusal of the southwark website but did not know where to start looking for a heads up
  24. yes I have had one. It suggested I had not paid my bill (I have paid for the whole year by DD) foolishly waited 20 minutes on hold to speak to someone to sort out and ended up firing a grumpy email to them via the website. It if really is just a letter trying to get people to pay, how much is it costing in paper and postage for goodness sake?
  25. You would think that as a very wealthy charity, the dulwich estate would want to do something. after all, the DPG is smack bang in the middle of the 'estate'. Of historical value etc etc Not holding my breath??...
