  1. Otta - I think most people would prefer a co-ed school- the Harris Crystal Palace is very oversubscribed.
  2. How brilliant that they were able to run over to the adventure playground - a place where children feel safe, protected and free to be themselves. Well done to you all and best of luck with all the plans.
  3. I love the way the elevations are upside down
  4. I am sure they are trying every avenue!!
  5. we drove = very simple, and it is brilliant!! sometimes Groupon have an offer but I am not sure that they offer much of a discount. There is one heck of a gift shop (serious ???) so better prepare them in advance
  6. http://www.grono.co.uk I know a landscaper who swears by this
  7. Hi James any news about the enforced imposition of yellow lines across residential dropped kerbs? many thanks
  8. I second air-hop!! I took two teenagers who had the most amazing time thoroughly recommend
  9. talk about shooting the messenger!! actually, sometimes confronting the perpetrator can end in right old mess. I had a polite and I thought friendly word with someone (who I thought was nice neighbour ) about a howling and distressed dog once, and they threatened to shove my teeth down my throat. So I quite understand someone not wanting the face to face thing. But perhaps, if the 'guilty party' reads the edf they might recognise themselves. and think twice about doing it again. please don't attack the people who report such antisocial behaviour
  10. hi James there are new mini cameras attached to the lights at the junction with dulwich village, calton avenue and turney road. Just wondered what these were for? If they are for people who jump the lights, all well and good, but after the townley road episode, I just wondered if they were 'monitoring' for some other plans?.. many thanks ps I did have a perusal of the southwark website but did not know where to start looking for a heads up
  11. yes I have had one. It suggested I had not paid my bill (I have paid for the whole year by DD) foolishly waited 20 minutes on hold to speak to someone to sort out and ended up firing a grumpy email to them via the website. It if really is just a letter trying to get people to pay, how much is it costing in paper and postage for goodness sake?
  12. You would think that as a very wealthy charity, the dulwich estate would want to do something. after all, the DPG is smack bang in the middle of the 'estate'. Of historical value etc etc Not holding my breath??...
  13. I thought lordship lane was 20mins? Why Barry road area? - that is unlimited On the side roads there.
  14. I did the pudding basin version which worked perfectly. I used ready roll icing Which worked a treat - and I am a useless baker. Got the details From an annabel karma party cakes book. Best of luck!
  15. How bizarre that no=one was informed?? Someone somewhere is certainly not doing their job - council or contractor I wonder. Good point about checking they are temporary = the more I read about the council, the less I trust them or their motives. I should add that I don't include James B as part of the council - he is a valuable and helpful conduit in dealing with them. What an old grump I am!!!
  16. ok, one of our many new year's visitors did not use a coaster, and our nice walnut sideboard (one of our few 'grown up' pieces of furniture) has a white glass ring. Does anyone have a fool proof method for removing or reducing its visibility. I have googled and there are lots of solutions using abrasive materials - toothpaste or salt which makes me a bit nervous. any advice gratefully received!!
  17. with regards to the old betting office opposite the actress, it would be nice if it was a shop, effectively extending north cross road - leading up to the two lovely jewellery shops. That little parade had a nice boost with those two shops opening, along with the 'junk shop' and the brilliant rye books further up. It is a shame that the shop next to he junk shop has been turned into housing as that would have added to 'the parade'.
  18. I wasn;t sure if it was actually a shop or a venue for crafty type parties.
  19. what is that music???? lovely footage - any more?
  20. I have just done this out of interest and a range of house numbers in my street pop up. So does this mean these houses are identified as rented accommodation? seems a bit off to publish the details of where people actually are living and effectively their personal details. Intrigued as to how this is going to work. The web page doesn't give enough info about the aims.
  21. I don;t think the estate is a problem, but the deal breaker could be the bills you are presented with for works to the buildings. It seems to be an open cheque to southwark (or their contractors) there is quite a lengthy thread on here about it. I think the main problem is that normal people are presented with rather hefty bills for minor stuff. best of luck.
  22. I think Dadof4 makes some good points - esp about painting the cycle route across the junction. introduce a filter light for the RHT that allows cyclists to clear the junction first.
  23. And the large amount of revenue it takes (if not to call it profit) is given to the private schools - alleys, jags etc. There was another long thread about this very thing somewhere on the EDF
