  1. yes, fantastic family photographer - he even got some good ones of me and I HATE being photographed. You will spend a fortune, but it is so worth it (and they are beautifully framed)
  2. actually my fault - I mis read the OP - we have one bathroom and a downstairs loo, however even with the family bathroom and the luxury of an en suite (heaven!), I think I would still have a shower room - visiting guests etc. They are pretty small, and altho storage is imperative, I think alot of lofts have quite a lot of rubbish in them -mine included!
  3. We are planning to do this soon, and an extra shower room is a complete must for us. As they become teenagers, a second shower room would be a flippin godsend.
  4. I don't understand how a council can seem to emplouy 'experts' who seem to bugger everything up?? please excuse the professional terminology but I think that just about sums them up!
  5. about a month ago I was walking the dog (about half seven on the rye) and there were some people practising their drumming near the cafe. They were very good = suspect it might just be a monthly practise session. the dog was fascinated....

it is so intermittant, and you havew no idea that the phone is not working until you try to make a call - so cannot actually get a grip on how long I am without a service. I echo pebbles - I was urgently trying to contact someone and the ruddy phone didn't work!! hmmmm
  7. no, house is always a tip. I have been known to blitz it and actually send photos to my husband to prove our house can look nice. Cooking, kids, cats, dogs, laundry. It never lasts, but I know that sense of sinking when the house looks a complete mess. Cannot afford a cleaner, and still haven't got the hang of this housekeeping lark (and I'm fifty!!)

how bizarre, also in friern road. this happened some weeks ago, and I thought it was the phone. was told to do the reset networks thing. It happened again sunday evening, and yesterday evening, altho I have a good strong signal showing. I ha assumed my phone was faulty. My hushand has the same model and network and has had no problems.
  9. oo the little madam. Rather than get frustrated, when she is having her daddy moment, sneak off and get a coffee.
  10. good idea pipsky. what are the trees that have been done? I am being a complete dunce = are they limes?? firing off a question to the AA as suggested.
  11. yes, treehugger, I agree. Also, for me the thing was the people 'cutting off the fuzz' i e the new growth, early in this spring. There seem to be lots of leaves sprouting on the trunks tho, so perhaps we will have a bit of a giggle with leaf monsters down barry road.
  12. child hit by car, a witness is concerned that she is ok no blame allocated as far as I can see? just a genuine concern.
  13. school uniform shop in west dulwich? they seem to have all the good old basics
  14. great!! at last someone has given the answer we have all been waiting for. Will the trees be ok since they have had their spring growth cut off? to the many who do not know about trees, this seemed a strange thing to do. the council seems to have been reluctant to respond to the people who have asked the question, thereby making many people (including myself) suspicious that something had gone horribly wrong. answer, from Abdabs yes they will be fine, the RHS says so. thank you!!
  15. I think the main question is why the trees have been cut in the spring. I don't think people are anti-pollarding (as I think burbage is suggesting - sorry if wrong). There are certain times of year to do things (ie prune fruit trees) and I think the main concern is that it has been done at the wrong time of year. I LOVE the photo robin posted!! it looks like something off a 1970's edition of doctor who!!
  16. it's looking fabulous!
  17. people who insist on walking in the road, not on the pavement = what's that about?
  18. which school is this?? i underdstand if you are reluctant to say, however it would be interesting to know which local schools are willing to screw families for the sake of ?120. thanks for the heads up
  19. umm where to start with this....... edited to add that we really should have a police station in the vicinity!!
  20. yes that sap is sticky, tho I would much rather have a fabulous vista of magnificent trees up barry road rather than rows of sparkling cars.... sorry!
  21. and the only one that does passports and tax discs.
  22. I posted this very question to James Barber which he passed on to the revlevant dept - who I understand have yet to respond. Are there any tree surgeons who could put our mind at rest? I feel rather disheartened everytime I drive past them (and all the other ones that seem to have been 'butchered') so it would be great if someone could reassure us it is part of a longer term plan to maintain tree health, rather than completely the wrong thing done at the wrong time of year which seems a distinct probability, or a plan to kill off the larger trees (because of insurance claims) to replant with smaller trees. sorry to sound so snippy and negative.
  23. surely they can be done for receiving stolen goods??
  24. very excited to spot a green woodpecker on consecutive days on peckham rye. he is hanging around the large trees on the open space oppo harris boys.
