  1. had them last night = they were utterly charming when I said I don't buy at the door - this is the first time ever they have not been aggressive!!!!
  2. gosh I would leave a decent gap between them - def more than one month
  3. well done again for stepping in !!
  4. una stubbs, dulwich park,
  5. I am an out and out cat person however I absolutely love going to the park and seeing all the dogs running about and making friends with each other. what a horrible sterile environment if the dogs were all muzzled and on leads. My kids and I get such pleasure from all the dogs running around. I have never felt intimidated by a dog (except when I was bitten as a child - didn't leave much of an emotional scar) however I do appreciate people being rightly concerned about attacks such as that on poor little woody. These dog owners are the minority and must not ruin things for the responsible majority. Lastly, whenever I see young chaps (the sort with a hoody and trousers that need a belt) with a dodgy looking dog, I always smile and say 'oh what a lovely little dog, look kids isn't he gorgeous?' and even if they don't make conversation, they always smile!!!
  6. my kids are a bit older (8 and 12) and have never had fillings however the dentist advised adult toothpaste for them now as the fluoride content is higher -but the problem is I have not yet found a mild mint adult toothpaste, they all seem to be super 'fresh' which = strong mint. can anyone suggest a mild mint adult toothpaste as I am amazed that I cannot find one!
  7. yes the latter is true. definitely appeal
  8. we were toying with the idea but I was concerned about keeping them cooped up all the time because of the foxes. don;t they like to peck about a bit or are they ok in the eglu? do you move the eglu around much and do they completely demolish the lawn where they have been? sorry if loads of questions but it is something I am interested in.
  9. be assured Bellenden road is lovely - and the primary schools are pretty good enjoy it!!
  10. I'd give it a year to be honest. I was helped by breastfeeding but I do think you need to not be too hard on yourself. Also I am sorry but most women I know who have children never get back that washboard tummy (not that I ever had one!) I was so wrapped up in my baby I wasn't that bothered, but after about a year I began to exercise and it really made a difference. Don;t go mad - babies are hard work and I really don;t like the media 'yummy mummy' stuff that we seem to be bombarded with now. Get the perfect lipstick and hide under your winter woolies as curlykaren suggests!
  11. nothing here either - is it supposed to start tomorrow?
  12. I have just seen one driving towards the goose green roundabout and tapping out on his machine at the same time - trying to get a lorry unloading outside the EDT. I was driving in the oppo direction and was not on the ball enough to get his reg no blast!
  13. I felt the same way when we first came across it but it is absolutely ok
  14. I think the ofsted report was incredibly misleading and is causing unnecessary panic as is clear. Its a lovely school with a majority of great teachers - lets face it there are always one or two who could do better. The education my two have had there has been great. I think the fact that other well established schools have had a similar result speaks for itself. I am a volunteer at the school and was there when the inspection took place. A gentlemen sat in on our class for 10 minutes and then sauntered off - if any judgement was made on that basis I would be very unsure of its validity. There have been changes sure, but I still have complete confidence in DKH!
  15. you must read between the lines with these ofsted reports - talk to parents at the school
  16. hi, I'm another in friern road who is worried that by the time the p13 gets to us it will be full! great that there are so many kids from the local schools going there tho! I too am interested to see if the special buses idea takes off.
  17. and the chap dressed up in the robin hood outfit? my son was just asking about him!!
  18. I thankfully no longer have to commute, but I used to, and found the peckham rye/london bridge trains services to be so frequent so as to make getting 'up to town' easy and convenient. This is still the case. Anything that lessens public transport (train) links to and from central london is not, IMO a good thing. I too have no idea where the heck bellingham is, but I have noticed the last couple of times I used the london brige service home, it was the bellingham train. The powers that be cannot insist that people leave their cars at home if they are going to erode public transport links.
  19. hmm don;t understand why people are so surprised at parents' concern for lack of local school places? most kids go to school. It plays very big part of their life and social life. It is quite nice if they can walk there with their parents and other kids who live nearby. They can walk round to their mates after school maybe stay for tea if they like. So it is not unreasonable to be cheesed off if going to primary school involves a round trip entailing several bus rides or a schlep in the car - the going round to your friends has to be organised days in advance -the spontenaity of local living goes out the window. Some people choose to go private and therefore opt for the car journey thing HOWEVER most people (regardless of class - quite insulting to suggest that only 'middle class' people care about their kids and school) want to be able to walk to the/a local school. I didn't read the posts as a hysterical goodrich/heber thing, rather not being allocated anywhere local or had even heard of. rant over...
  20. hi, bit of a long shot, but I lost a silver bracelet thursday evening whilst out walking along friern road, underhill rd, whately road, lordship lane, northcross and underhill road. Made up of lots of twisted loops of silver linking together - not particularly valuable but much liked. fingers crossed
  21. willow Trees at hither green - 0208 857 6438 - very nice and relaxed and good for littluns. not wildly smart or posh, but I found them always very nice -
  22. great idea - we have often put items out with a note saying 'help yourself'. not always complete rubbish - just stuff we just dont need/have room for. I would love this - free rein to rifle thro some junk! Nothing wrong with skip sifting - as long as you ask first and what a great way to stop unnecessary waste. I would love this!
