no no no, dulwich park fairy keep going but keep it legal! I love reading all the reviews no matter what they say. I am turning into a secondary school bore, and welcome ALL comments - dodgy or not. Also, amongst all the 'our school is great' - which actually is the case now in ED (yeah!) I relish these little interludes of "now what's going on there...?" sorry, obviously too much time on my hands -

I think the green and blue thing was a genuine one-off mis-understanding. Reading the posts about the green, this is a long and sustained campaign of crummy service!! I wouldn;t be surprised if they had their own sweepstake on their awfulness.

Attack - Oglander Road (at the beginning of October)
tiddles replied to Blue10's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am really shocked to hear this - I used to run all around the bellenden streets at night and never, ever, felt threatened. There used to be (?) people around, walking about, and so I felt very comfortable. I am also surprised that no-one heard any 'rumpus' and came out. Please be assured, this is a real one-off and you were jolly unluckey. Surprisingly, i feel more uneasy pounding the steets in the deserted wasteland of 'the upper east side' where people really do seem to be locked behind closed doors (sorry chaps - you've heard this rant before). the other nasty side to this is, I am looking at every non-white bunch of girls for distinguishing marks - white puffa jacket and red bunches, which is horrible. I hate the idea that we can slide into 'daily mail' land and their generalisations, but I am checking out every gang of girls (not boys tho so there is hope) Hang on in there - it really is a very nice area -
we had a hilarious visit there one sunday for lunch. We asked if they had a table but as we were being lead to it, another waiter started berating him as they obviously didn't want us! Usual thing, long wait for menue, very snooty waiter took the order, - one of our party (french) asked for a glass of champagne (on the menu)however the waiter said that he didn't want to open a bottle, and you shouldn't drink champagne at lunch time. We actually found this rather funny and realised that our being in such good humour really cheesed them off. We spent a pleasant 2 hours enjoying our one course meal (sans champagne) being horribly cheerful and not, of course, leaving a tip we've never been back since

harry, why are you up so late?????? (not homework!!!)

well done you chaps! looking forward to seeing the bags up and down LL

this is great news! As I said we were very impressed - however I think I might need to visit when there are kids in the classrooms thanks again for all the really helpful advice and recommendations Jan

what number should we call if we spot them? I am assuming this wouldn't be 999. If we can have the number of the police station you have been dealing with - hopefully they should know what we are calling about when we spot them. I wanted to pop it in my mobile - I am out and about ED at all times so wouldn't want to miss the opportunity of dobbing them in it!

hi, going to look at this tomorrow - I would love to hear from parents with children actually at the school. There is so much historical 'baggage' with this school (sorry) that I would love to hear from people with kids there - I am hearing lots of positives - The facitilies look amazing so any info very gratefully received thanks - secondary school bore!!
-
actually that was "due" to complete lack of co-operation - sorry!
-
easy,my kids know you don't do this - the words 'please don't do this' and 'don't even think about it' are actually very easy to say. I should add that mine are 6 and 9 so they understand about how to behave in public. I admit, the 2 - 4 yrs are more tricky!! (we HAVE left early do to complete lack of co-operation before!!) cheers Jan

I emailed them and they hand delivered this months and last months editions very happy pixie pulling curtains, pouring glass of wine and looking for neighbours houses at the back....

yes there was one in upland road not long ago... they have since done a runner

I have two utterly delightful children who know how to behave. We know lots of uttlerly delightful children who don't. I completely understand an adult's desire to go to a child free zone. I like going to the pub with my children BUT am very aware that this is usually a place for "grown ups" I think pubs should quite clearly state if they are happy to have kids on the premises (with the exception of the baby so small it is still in the car seat under the table)or not. The gowlett have a very good policy of all kids out by 9pm - we all know where we stand those that find them irritating know when they can breathe a sigh of relief. Having said that - isn't it annoying how many people insist on ignoring the 'child free zone' notice in dulwich park cafe??

Syringe Exchange/Methadone Services: Crystal Palace Rd

sorry that last bit was facetious - but my main point is: I think I would be cheesed off if a 7/11 was opening opposite me with comings and goings etc, and I suppose the concern is that people who might be a bit "strung out" perhaps would not be considerate of others. ok, thats if, no more wisecracks.. -

can anyone shed any light/experiences about needle exchanges. I can understand why locals might be cheesed off with a late night pharmacy, just from the increased comings and goings when you are trying to sleep. Feelings are running high because of fears and assumptions (some justified, others not) on what might happen. Real experences please. Personally, I don't see why anyone should have to accommodate others self imposed needs if they have a negative impact on residents' quality of life (nimby? moi? yes and sorry NO apologies) however, if in actual fact there are no real negatives - you don't get gangs of people hanging around, actually there arn't any disgarded needles or other unsavoury stuff, well let those proposing this make that clear and offer some guarantees to those who might be affected. Lastly, some of my best friends were drug users, and a more boring, selfish bunch of t**ts you could not wish to meet. -
no - haven't had one for a long while (friern road)

there's a darned sight more going on in and around the bellenden area than there is at the top end of east dulwich! believe me I have found out the hard way!! LL is great but beyond that.....

this was on the london radio news this evening -
yes it is frustrating about cat poo ( I am an owner of two) but rather amused by peckhamboy's assumption that you can contain your cat in the garden - mine jump high fences and roam over their 'territory' - despite have a very large garden. I am afraid that is the nature of cats. I, of course, are more bothered by dog poo left on pavements for unsuspecting people to tread in
