Those were the days- the deterrent of a kicking IN the cop shop!!

  3. As it happens- football is not allowed under the rules for covid as it is impossible to social distance...so this thread is illegal
  4. seenbeen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why doesn't the council open up the Peckham > Football club ground on Dulwich Common since so > many are intent on using up so much park space for > their own games. This was rhetorical and sarcastic- football is not allowed under government guidelines but many covidiots seem to want to play it anyway and thereby deprive others of exercise/sitting space- and there is no-one to stop them....
  5. There are no toilets open anywhere around here....that is why if you walk around the perimeter of the park, Alleyns' Field and memorial gardens yo will smell human pee, and even see people peeing, as I did in the park on Sunday

James O'B was never as bad as > this, but the last six months he's been hideous to > listen to spouting his champagne socialism. I'm not surprised at James O'Brien- he's like that all the time. I complained to LBC about a downright lie he told last year and haven't listened since. Boris was out jogging today apparently so he must be on the mend and I imagine he is being overseen by a doctor. Is he on paternity leave I wonder- he is entitled just like anyone else? After all, Boris and the Cabinet are being led by the science and the statistics so he doesn't have to show himself everyday. It is a good thing that we hear what the relevant Secretary of State has to say about their own areas. The pandemic is what it is a PANdemic.....all the problems the world has have stemmed from the fact that the WHO would not cease movement of people out of China by plane and so it was spread around the world and by International Law there was nothing anyone could do about it. Covid was reported to the WHO on 31st December when 41 patients were sick in Wuhan province- all from the wet market....and it was reported as respiratory disease that was not responding to conventional treatment. China locked down INTERNAL travel at the end of January but pushed on, with the support of the WHO , foreign travel until the end of March.Remember there are International laws around Travel restrictions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_the_COVID-19_pandemic_in_January_2020 Makes interesting reading. Given that there had already been a SARS outbreak in 2002 the WHO were remiss and we have ALL suffered and it is NOT the Government's fault in any way shape or form imvho. Remember dbboy there are people who will oppose the Tories WHATEVER they do....on principle- I've heard them say as much and I've also heard a lot of people saying thank goodness Corbyn wasn't in charge....
  7. The whole raison d'etre of loud music and those massive bass speakers etc is so that EVERYONE can hear it and your windows will rattle, so I doubt if these noisy people will go for the 'silent disco' option. Yes noise is stressful and stress plays havoc with the immune system
  8. Working class kids did very well when grammar Schools were ubiquitous....again personal experience in case you ask lindylou!

What proof do I have of what? The fact that state schools don't teach hygiene in Biology, or that Alleyn's taught a food hygiene course? Personal experience in both instances- phone the school if you don't believe me. It was taught by Ms Burtenshaw as I remember.

One experience I wouldn't like to happen again is when you get 2 kids on bikes bombing down the pavement and mum and dad on the road- so as you jump into the road you are almost hit by the parents- what to do?

But then you could argue > that risk from family and neighbours is so low > compared to pubic transport and mass gatherings. > Almost a Sweden situation. Unfortunately your number 3 point about a minority misbehaving- a minority in a densely packed city is a LOT of people....in my experience as well- so much so that I can't bring myself to go out more than once a day for a walk and once a fortnight for essentials.
  12. I feel for you as I have not been ill but workmen turn up outside next door at 7.30am and talk to each other in loud voices. They have a radio blaring out most days too on top of the power tools. They have NO respect either that or they have NO brains.....
  13. Way to go China
  14. Interestingly state schools do not teach basic hygiene in Biology but Alleyns used to teach their 13 year olds food hygiene and an officially recognised certificate was presented at the end of the course....that was in the early 1990s. Hopefully the National Curriculum will change!

BBQs are just as bad if not worse....we all live practically on top of each other in London- there is no need to make other peoples' lives a misery https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/ban-wood-coal-bonfire-burning-during-the-pandemic-to-improve-respiratory-health
  16. edcam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Idiots. This government has a lot to answer for > with their wishy-washy "advice". Plus - so many > people are stupid. The advice is quite clear- there is a hard core of people who ignore it. I've just seen 10 teenagers playing footie in Alleyn's Field 8 BAME and 2 white kids...no social distancing and close tackling. Also a woman with 2 kids turned up there and the kids - 7 and 5 ish run straight up to some other children there- so all the nonsense about not sending kids to school is a joke...anyway plenty of kids are at school as their parents are key workers who would be the most likely to pass infection on...
  17. edcam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > None of this was his idea. It's this bloody awful > government. It's sensible- if older people who are not working are on the bus they will clog up the buses and workers will not be able to get on. Also older people should not be travelling at peak times because they may get the virus and clog up the NHS. This very good Government quite rightly follow the science. Don't forget Khan cut the number of tube trains and buses at the start of the lockdown and shut many stations thereby forcing essential workers on to less buses and trains and creating more overcrowding- that was stupid imo
  18. That was in the list of symptoms at the beginning. I took note since if I have a cold even I loose taste and smell for about 3 weeks and I crave spicy food. Also Smokers had better beware...no surprise there though- respiratory disease gets worse for smokers....
  19. Why doesn't the council open up the Peckham Football club ground on Dulwich Common since so many are intent on using up so much park space for their own games.
  20. Anyone who went out for their daily exercise to Alleyns' Field or Dulwich Park at any time since the so-called (because many people have NOT adhered to it) lockdown would have seen several football sessions going on. In fact several weeks ago on Alleyns' field a man was trying to encourage people to join him and his mate in a game...a couple did before I'd left. Also, on Sunday, late afternoon, in Dulwich Park, there was a large crowd near the Court Lane gates sitting on the grass, not social distancing. The government have no control over these people who endanger their own lives and those of others and thereby threaten the resilience of the NHS- short of employing military tactics -so they had no choice but to ease the lockdown- it had already eased itself to a large extent. Also given the amount of spitting attacks on front line staff, there are people who are out to deliberately infect others.

There are enough passengers on TFL to fund the service if many people did not evade fares. Also the free travel for kids has encouraged them to hop on for 1 or 2 stops and their parents to choose schools miles away.....does nothing to combat obesity or cut down air pollution. TFL fund the 60+ pass FREEDOM PASS: BOROUGH HANDBOOK Section A: Overview of scheme 1. The Freedom Pass scheme provides free travel to older and eligible disabled London residents on almost all London?s public transport. It is the most extensive concessionary fares scheme in the country, in terms of scope, benefits offered and quality of transport provided. 2. The Freedom Pass gives free travel 24 hours a day to eligible residents on all Transport for London (TfL) bus, rail, light rail and tram services (regardless of their location) and some National Rail services in Greater London and after 9.30am on almost all the remainder of National Rail in Greater London and independently operated bus services in Greater London (appendix C gives details of National Rail services). A half fare concession is provided on TfL river services and the cable car. The Freedom Pass is largely funded by boroughs with grant support from Government. TfL fund the concession for older people in the weekday morning peak on TfL services (between 04:30 and 09:00) and this accounts for around 5% of the cost of the concession overall. TfL also fund the new 60+ pass which provides travel concessions in London for people over 60 who are not yet eligible for the Freedom Pass. 3. Freedom Pass is managed on behalf of London boroughs by London Councils under the terms of section 244 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 and the Transport and Environment Committee agreement. This includes card production and administration, database and reimbursement of transport operators
  22. I assumed the tube was for the residents' use as I watered the one near me ...it is lovely and big now but I was told that the new neighbours have said they want it chopped down.....duh!
  23. millie7uk Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > And what about the people who live in that and the > adjoining roads, the noise, litter and traffic and > lack of parking is a serious problem Yes- I always walk there around the back streets and the number of cars that pass me 2 or 3 times looking for a parking spot is ridiculous...so you can add air pollution to your list
  24. So Khan is taking the same stance as Scotland as regards the message 'Stay At Home'....well it hasn't been taken up (in fact it never was by a lot of people....)
