Peckham is the worst hit area of Southwark. From 6th May https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/coronavirus-deaths-southwark-areas-revealed/

OK so it's nice to know some people have a smidgin of conscience

  4. If it is an architectural carbuncle it will fit in very well with what has happened in ED over the past 10 years. What is interesting is the number of 'carbuncles' that overlook the backs of other peoples' houses. Where you only had 1 back window overlooking your garden you now have two or three with loft extensions and dormer windows. In 10 years time all these people that own these extremely extended houses will be looking to create flats out of them, or HMOs and the Council will wave them through because they want the population increase and the revenue and votes.

The WHO is sitting on the fence as it did in 2002- for financial reasons- this is unacceptable and I hope the nations around the world make their own arrangements.

I was pleased to see the head of the Health and Safety Executive on there today as the only question mark I had about the new stuff was 'what if your employer makes you go to work in unsafe conditions?' And she explained what to do. It has been explained to the general public day in day out and all over the internet about staying safe by social distancing and washing hands etc. which should be second nature to us now. The new message is go to work and stay safe...and emploers should be facilitating that- like the big screens in Sainbury's Pleading ignorance is just puerile at this stage.
  7. Since the lockdown the window cleaner hasn't been and the webs in the corners of my windows catch flies and the birds have been getting the flies and maybe the spiders too!
  8. No-One stood a chance https://www.axios.com/timeline-the-early-days-of-chinas-coronavirus-outbreak-and-cover-up-ee65211a-afb6-4641-97b8-353718a5faab.html and the WHO have now U turned on their 'wet market' stance

I don't blame him for giving out this message. A great many people have not followed the stay at home etc advice since day 1 and after the weekend trying to advise the Great British Public what to do is impossible....just pop over to Alleyns' field The real reason why Wales is still 'staying at home' https://news.sky.com/story/every-patient-was-a-drunk-injury-despair-over-bank-holiday-a-e-admissions-11986373 and Manchester https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/doctors-despair-boozy-bank-holiday-22002353 and the Tube https://www.eagleradio.co.uk/news/uk-news/3100190/coronavirus-commuters-pack-london-tube-platforms-after-pms-lockdown-announcement/ If they all want to risk their necks and go out well then -let them. I'm going to look after myself and hope the reckless go back to work very soon
  10. You can get a sample of RNA and use this process https://www.britannica.com/science/reverse-transcriptase to obtain the DNA -it's called RT-PCR

The man has a narcissistic personality disorder - he hogs the air time with his rants that have half-truths and outright lies in them. What amazes me is that he NEVER offers up a solution of his own for any problem. As far as the change of slogan goes I think the Government have given up on the hard core of people who have never followed lockdown...this last weekend was a prime example of how - short of getting the army mobilised- there is no chance of curtailing the freedom of so many selfish people. By saying 'Stay Alert' he probably means lay off the sauce and the drugs and then you might be able to maneuver your way around without getting infected or infecting others.

There used to be a clear leaflet from Southwark which stated that bonfires must only be lit once a month for 1 hour at dusk. They probably don't produce it anymore because they assume that sensible, intelligent people would use the brown bins for their garden waste...but as we all know- there are some people who will not pay the ?30 a year for the bin and think they will burn it. We are in a smoke control zone and it stands to reason that a bonfire is totally anti-social, rude, selfish and unnecessary. It is anti-social behaviour

It was obvious from almost day 1 that a hard core of people were NOT going to Stay at Home and were going to do just as they liked- and since the scenes on the weekend- London Fields, Westminster Bridge and Alleyns' Field was just as bad- someone even dumped their unused ice on the grass...people sitting around in groups of 6 in a circle with still air breathing and speaking to each other from a distance, broadcasting their exhalations with or without virus on it, creating micro-environments for the virus to spread ...I think the Government have given up on the Stay at Home it is impossible to police ... I see that 2 29 year-old health workers died of it over the weekend....
  15. Vinnie Jones used to play for Wealdstone....something seems to have rubbed off on this guy

Lorraine Chase may have had a very strong working class accent but she was exceptionally well-groomed....maybe she was named after a French relative of hers?- they are all descended from peasants but are well-groomed!

  21. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7103344/ Work done on an exosomal vaccine after the first SARS outbreak in 2002. Exosomes just move stuff from cells around the body all the time As for PCR it's been around for decades ( there was a PCR dedicated lab in Guy's Hospital research floor in 1993 for example) and obviously its accuracy has been fully and regularly investigated or else it would not be admitted as evidence in crimes where DNA analysis is required. This is a good article about the current tests https://www.nature.com/articles/d41587-020-00010-2 These articles are easily found using Google btw- I just Googled 'fast pcr tests'
  22. Jacob R-M went to town a bit https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-40506109 Bob Dylan named himself after Dylan Thomas- my tutor at college was a 'Dylan'...he was Welsh too. If I hear 'Tarquin' I'll know there is no way back!
  23. There was a jazz singer with Chris Barber called Ottilie Patterson and a sci fi film with Joan Collins in the 1970s and her character was Ottilie. There was a girl at my sister's school called'Princess Diana'...really
  24. The work on the decoy proteins https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/university-leicester-scientists-developing-injection-4051193 You can have all the knowledge you like- doesn't mean you have any common sense or intelligence. Most scientists work from scientific papers anyway- textbooks are way behind the current thinking and research.

If you read some of the comments about Alleyns' and private schools on this forum you will understand the mentality of some residents in the area towards the public schools.
