  1. Lucky you, but clearly she felt it was a problem. Maybe she's got small children, or it had been going on for hours, who knows?
  2. Give her a break, the poor thing's had no sleep! The fact the noise team took action makes me feel she wasn't being unreasonable.
  3. Artful, that's positively stomach-churning.
  4. Brings a whole new meaning to 'trooping the colour.'
  5. Asking for it, really. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1942616
  6. Not really about ED though.
  7. Wear sunblock and let it sink in before getting on your bike.
  8. According to the signs it's due to finish today.
  9. Impressive word, ianr! Pissy
  10. Something is making holes in my garden and I can't work out what it is. The holes are about 2-3 inches across, maybe 5-6 inches deep, with veritcal sides and no earth displaced as far as I can see. Is it foxes digging for worms? Or is one of my neighbours practising with a pogo stick?
  11. Thanks very much for your help. I hate doing this kind of thing! Is it obvious?
  12. Appreciate views from experienced freelancers or accountants out there. If you had to switch from self-employed to an umbrella but hadn't actually worked or had any income since the end of the previous tax year, what would you choose as your end date for self-employed status: the start of the new contract or 5 April, or something inbetween? Oddly, HMRC doesn't mind and advised you could choose any date you like or leave it over till the tax return and sort it out then. The issue here isn't about avoiding tax as whichever way you cut it it doesn't seem to amount to much. Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill?
  13. Urgh, school milk at break time - warm and slightly on the turn after sitting in the sun since early morning. The reason so many of my generation don't like milk. These days kids all carry water bottles at school but back then you just went without or ducked your head under the tap. Tinned ravioli. No texture whatsoever when I tried it again in a fit of nostalgia a couple of years ago. Heinz tomato soup. Although I make my own soup all the time, this is still the one for when I'm poorly. Maybe with Ritz biscuits.
  14. I was told that originally too, then later I was advised it's better to leave it in top gear. Can't remember why any more though. Less likely to slip out of gear, perhaps? Anyone else forget by the time they get back in? ETA: maybe it's top gear when you park facing uphill?
