  1. A parallel thread in the main section got a good response using Southwark's reporting tool so worth pursuing. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1627171,page=2
  2. Also a thread in the Family section: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1729430
  3. I'm familiar with what Seabag said; Louisa's observations confuse me sometimes I must confess... Louisa, have you thought about signing up as a mystery shopper? You can do these kinds of critiques and get your meal paid for, plus a small fee on top.
  4. Perhaps he could be moved to Bake-Off before the Brexit talks kick off.
  5. Any particular incidents in mind? ETA: that was to the OP as mine crossed with the above.
  6. What's the 'part of the furniture brigade' - how do you know when you see it?
  7. Cats cr@p in my garden, thank you for asking, and yes we do complain, as well as throw water and spray the garden as for deterring foxes. In the hot weather last week my garden was unusable due to the smell of hot cat poo. Also plagued by fox poo as well as the occasional dog. None of my neighbours seems to do anything about it so I usually clear it up before any of their little darlings get a chance to walk it all over the place. Walking and jogging in the park is a similar problem, particularly the sand track in Dulwich Park which blends in with it.
  8. Or Help-Ma-Brad. Oh dear, got the silent giggles now in Media Cafe at Beeb. Will hide in the ladies till they pass.
  9. I was thinking Salsalina or Blahgelina. Brouisa has a pleasing ring to it.
  10. Fair comment.
  11. Mm. I confess to a sneaking sympathy for EA, who has at least explained their viewpoint clearly rather than just trolling like Grok. This is the OP's second thread in a few days asking people on the forum to do something for her without apparently making much effort herself and together they did strike me as a bit childish, but no law against using the forum as a labour-saving device I guess.
  12. I can't help noticing that this has happened the same day as Ian and Adam split up on the Archers...

There's a poster in the library advertising for Help at Home Workers for Age UK Lewisham & Southwark doing the kinds of things you mentioned and paying an hourly rate. More info here: http://www.ageuk.org.uk/lewishamandsouthwark/about-age-uk-lewisham-and-southwark/careers/ Best of luck.
  14. Another option could be a role as a support worker or advocate for people with mental health problems. You could get more information from Mind or Rethink.
  15. I just looked online and it seems they've been overtaken by a cheese and onion flavour. Perfect for when you're too overcome to chew properly.
  16. Thanks. Am now thinking about butternut squash and sausage casserole.
  17. It's a private matter: sad for those involved but none of our business really. Press coverage will be 99% sensationalism so best to leave well alone.
  18. Listen to either Uptown Funk or Happy. This is entirely at your own risk as there is no known antidote to either of those.
  19. In my late teens, Smash was the perfect food to mop up an evening's drink before falling into bed. Bacon and onion flavours were particularly good, topped with butter and a dollop of ketchup. That was before my conversion to puritanism, obviously.
  20. Numbers, that sounds lovely but reads a bit like a Mary Berry technical challenge - what are the quantities or proportions roughly?
  21. OK if they're frozen but anything else will be losing nutritional value very quickly and will have stuff added to stop it degrading, so I avoid those. I tried the butternut squash noodles and there's definitely something added that smells unnatural. Pink bacon? Processed veggie food is still processed food... I know several veggie people who think they're healthy but you only have to look at their skin or their shape to see they're eating cr@p.
  22. How very kind of them. It's lovely to hear about people going out of their way to help each other like that, particularly when the media dwell on doom and gloom all the time. In case your situation continues, you might find it helpful to know that you can pay with a contactless credit or debit card on most London transport (not the 'heritage' old buses on a few tourist routes). Costs the same as Oyster.
  23. It could also be worth investing ?20 in a 'fake TV' for a room that faces the garden as they seem to be a good deterrent by giving the impression there's someone in there. They seem very economical to run and activate themselves at dusk so you don't need to remember to set them.
  24. Ooh, nice, and sounds like a good one to turn to when the first cold of the season hits you as that kind of thing helps clear the passages.
  25. I'm bored and fed up with the grim search for work, so I thought it would be interesting to swap seasonal recipes that are easy to make, comforting and healthy but don't cost much. Autumn to me means the return of the soup and veg stew season. Here's one I really like: Ingredients: 1 litre stock 1 medium onion 200g red lentils 3-4 carrots 1 parsnip 1 tsp dried coriander 1 pinch chilli powder or few drops Tabasco 1 pinch ground ginger Chop the veg, put everything in a saucepan, bring to boil, simmer for about 25 mins, then blend. Hoping other people might like to share their own favourites.
