  1. I once put eye drops in my eyes, only to realise a second too late that they were in fact decongestant nose drops. (The brand name was the same and I stored them both in the fridge.) Do not try this at home.
  2. The ED Deli was a real oasis back in 2002, I remember. Their brownies are sadly missed, though I agree the service was a bit chilly in recent years (thought it was just me so good to know others felt the same). Several times I walked out in sheer irritation at being ignored for ages. SMBS seems to be going the same way. Always interesting to hear who actually uses which shops. I've never understood how the Coop keeps going but someone must like it. Back on topic, I'd like it if the craft shop did some crochet workshops.
  3. I really hope they can make a go of it. I expect the rent for that site is pretty high these days and there's not much [ET correct predictive sp] profit in craft materials. It would be great if they also do workshops as no doubt there are a lot of people who'd be interested.
  4. The site said you can vote for as many as you like.
  5. So sorry for what you and your wife have been through. Have you taken this to your MP? That might help shift things. I'm not a lawyer but perhaps you could also look into bringing a case for corporate negligence or something like that. On the oxygen of publicity, how about contacting Radio London, either the Vanessa Feltz or Eddie Nestor shows, and find out whether they'd be interested in doing a programme on this? What does worry me, though, is your own health and the completely understandable toll all this has had on you. You said bereavement counselling wasn't much help, and I wonder if your wife's death has got tangled up with her treatment by the nurses, and that has got in the way of the natural grieving process that you might have gone through otherwise. It sounds like you need some more support for yourself and I'd encourage you to look into some more counselling. Your GP should be able to help with this.
  6. Voted. What a beautiful painting. Fingers crossed for you.
  7. My personal best/worst remains the time I had dinner with a male colleague and only realised it was the wrong person when the right one turned up during the main course. Long story, which I'm sure I shared in an earlier incarnation, so will spare myself the shame of reliving it frame-by-frame...
  8. There's a thread for that, you know.
  9. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This really should be in the Top Tips thread RPC. You know, I think it may have been Salsaboy's top tip that subconsciously set me up for it.
  10. Not sure that's right, Malumbu. 'More slowly' is still correct for the comparative adverb in British English, I believe. I know 'slower' has crept in, probably via the American English route, and now seems to be accepted too; not all that keen myself, but then I'm getting old. 'Slowlier' still exists (adverbs with two syllables ending in '-ly' usually change to '-lier' in the comparative) but has become somewhat archaic now.
  11. Crikey. In his defence, he did pass out. The story that disturbed me most this week was the woman who cut the heads off her two pet snakes, swallowed them and then regurgitated them. That's not the act of a well person.
  12. Rendel in the lead so far. The kitchen sink one would make a great sketch. I've probably done something comparable in the past but I'm trying not to let my mind go there. I wonder if embarrassment is social form of PTSD?
  13. Perfect. Thank you!
  14. Apologies if there's already a thread on this. I'm overcome with embarrassment. Couldn't find the teabag after I poured boiling water into the cup, but mysteriously contents of cup were right colour. I looked into the kettle: contents were the same colour. I'd put the teabag in the kettle. If you have a senior moment or any other example of absentmindedness that might make me feel less bad, please do share it.
  15. What is the chemical process for salt on slugs?
  16. I shouldn't have bought the Haagen Dazs salted caramel, on special offer at Sainsbury's. An accident waiting to happen once it was in the freezer (though sadly all too briefly).
  17. As your sofa is white leather, rather than a colour, would it be worth trying a few drops of hydrogen peroxide on a tiny part of the stain to see if it can take the dye out? If it does and you're left with an off-white stain, you could try a bit of a platinum blonde hair dye, again in a tiny area first.
  18. Ooh, I like the lentil crisps too, but the plain ones. Have you tried them with hummus? Perfect combination.
  19. Thinking about it for a moment, I've never even heard of anyone eating a whole tin of anchovies. Hope you don't have high blood pressure or kidney problems, Artful.

  21. Been to Westminster Abbey but never to St Paul's.
  22. Never been to Nandos.
  23. Never seen GoT either, or the Night Manager, Orange is the new Black, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and most other big TV drama series of the last couple of decades (no TV and no broadband at home). Never eaten oysters (they look like catarrh).
