  3. Ted Max Wrote: This people of this Forum, having handed Tony his arse so many times, have run out of plates uponwhich to serve said item. The only recent time that I have argued against the serried ranks of The EDF was over the immigration issue where I argued, primarily, that: 1/ While people should like and respect ALL people, irrespective of their culture, that people of a similar culture naturaly prefer to also be with people of their culture ( with exceptions, of course ). This blatantly obvious and natural for the overwhelming majority of people. I also said that many areas of Inner London, in particular, the demographic is changing rapidly and that many of those areas will be "minority White/British" in the near future and more still will become "minority White/British" in the period of time after that. Some on here disputed that this blatant "truism" wasn't the case, though in most "gatherings of choice" that clearly IS the case. Obviously in racially diverse areas there will be every kind of person at a Bus Stop/Bank/Shop/Workplace etc but the "test" is " "Will people of different cultures CHOOSE to be together on some kind of regular basis when they do not need to and are not thrown together in the above settings" ?? Some prominent Posters ( usual suspects) were arguing, for example, that they "just happened" to live in streets that were mostly "Asian" in their case and would not admit that an area where they has lived WAS indeed predominantly Asian. NOW through the wondrous joys of serendipity what do I discover from 2 years ago on here? :)) 08 May, 2007 21:21 Seema asked me to start a new thread re Goose Green Dulwich Festival: I looked at the pix from last year. What struck me was how 'PLU" (people like us) it was. I know that ED has a certain demographic, but I'd say 90% were white, 20-50 somethings. There are black and asian people living around here, but why are they not there? I rarely see ethnic minorities in The Palmerston, Black Cherry, Caffe Nero, Jacks, etc. It disturbs me and makes me feel uncomfortable about why this should be. Do the minorities feel excluded? Are there any ethnio minority EDF posters? Discuss. Nero 09 May, 2007 12:08 I THINK ALL CULTURES ARE DRAWN TO LIKE FOR LIKE - the fair next weekend for example won't have many of the white population who favour burberry caps and tracksuits - so it's more to do with that than ethnicity. Liqourish tends to have a sizeable non-caucasian customer base - if I arrange to meet some of my black friends that's where they suggest we meet. Could be because it's new and doesn't have the history that places like EDT/Forresters(now Bishop) etc had. Actually The Bishop has a pretty darn diverse crowd so not sure about my last statement .... Also, having lived in PREDOMINANTLY Asian areas of London .... Teddy Boy I was NOT saying that it is RIGHT that many people want to be with "their own" or indeed its how it should be. Ideally we should all freely mingle work and socialise together. I was saying HOW IT IS !!!! and it seems that even my nemesis on that thread really agreed with me, after all. He, and others, rightly, want us to "move forward" and change that and maybe, in more enlightened times we will, I was telling it HOW IT IS NOW !! and "I" got my arse spanked??? LOL... I'll be polite and not go into the hypocrisy of those comments above but I wonder if the likes of YOU and Hugsy and Sherwick et al will pick up on the, er, "inconsistently" of those statements....:)) Indeed the whole thread written 2 years ago is basically, saying, what I was saying....

  5. lyndsey83 Wrote: 'awesome idea actually..assuming the tickets havent gone like hotcakes, I'll check it out. Thanks.' That was what i posted to thank you. Perhaps i did it wrong. Sorry if i irritated you. Thanks for your reply. I had no idea that the comment above referred to my suggestion lyndsey. Just a misunderstanding. Have a great time:)-D
  6. lyndsey83 Wrote: Tony, I'm really not going to give you that rise you seem so desperate to get out of me, because frankly I have better things with to do with my time than arguing with a stranger on the internet who suggested I get my boyfriend a hooker for his birthday. That was the gentlest of jokes that I've heard endlessly in Offices over the years and no-one had ever taken that, obviously light-hearted comment, seriously let alone responded in the manner about "12-year-old" humour, thats what irritated me, initially. I'm not desperate to get a rise at all. Then followed the sarcasm about "how naive I am" to expect a sensible response on EDF which is hardly endearing is it, seriously? Ive been thanking people as I have gone along, yourself included I believe after the suggestion of the Ashes,..... dont wake up and sign in just to see what witty thesaurus-aided remarks have appeared since i went to bed. Thats the whole point lyndesy. After I ignored your barbed comments I did, as you now acknowledge, come up with an idea and, no, you did not acknowledge it in any shape or form at all. I'll think you will find many people on this Site who do not need the aid of "thesaurus" to enhance their natural wit, incidently. So please, If you want a fight, go and pick on someone else, Im really not interested. Neither am I, its just that I thought your earlier comments and attitude were rather supercilious and rude, quite frankly. went for gig tickets in end, which I found after Keef suggested. Off to see the pixies at Brixton:) . Sorry I couldnt say so right away yesterday, I happened..god forbid...to be doing something else. Same old sarcastic response. Funny how you DID find the time to reply now, soon after I wrote the above though, and you not only have replied but made your decision anyway!. So if you hadn't responded to my comments today others would have wasted their time trying to help when it was already a "fait accompli"....:) Anyway, despite the above I'm glad its all sorted and I hope you both have a great time at the gig which should be really good.(tu)
  7. Its time we learned, collectively, to embrace every "Johnny Foreigner" and clutch them firmly to our Manly bosoms or Female equivalent. Lets overlook the fact that Roger is as Swiss as a Cantonese Takeaway and shower him with the praise and adulation that he, undoubtedly, deserves. A True Champion.
  8. Lyndsy83 "clearly it wasn't a good idea" for me to think that you would acknowledge and thank all the following Forumites who have taken the time and trouble to suggest suitable presents for your friend since your fleeting re-appearance on the thread you initiated : PeckhamRose, Charliecharlie, bigbadwolf, Jetsetwilly, citizenED, Will dex, DaveR, Keef, HonaloochieB.... "Naive that I am."
  9. A re-assurring calm and a certain order has been restored you will be pleased to hear Dear Reader. Rain is forecast so this will sort out the wheat from the chaff. Lets see who is singing and laughing and enjoying their Pimms in the rain. That will learn them.

  13. I thought the drinking of Port was what gave those traditional sufferers of gout i.e. Sailors, gout in the first place! I assume that Pitt The Y. had fallen out with his Doctors...:))...thats the worst advice since Ally Ferguson was advised by person(s) unknown to buy Micky Owen..( he could NOT have possibly made that decision)....
  14. I was interested to see what EDF wws discussing back in the day so I viewed the last 5 pages and I came across this absolute gem of a thread. I have made nearly 3,000 replies on EDF but for the first time I'm utterly speechless. Thank you so much for the best laugh I have had since I joined up. The replies and the views above are most illuminating and enlightening.:)-D
  15. Oh! The Cricket?? That will be absolutely splendid, of that I have no doubt!:)-D
  16. Just outside Cardiff there is a "Holiday Camp" where the facilities seemed to comprise of one rotten goal post. It had barbed wire around the Site which we concluded was not to keep potential intruders out but to keep the poor sods who booked holidays there in..larf...

Absolutely NOT bbw!...they were "mash-up" "butters" and "fugly" all rolled into one...:X Joke was at one point we "merged" with them and were running with them while they chased any Millwall Fans who were in the distance. We took the chance (just like a Chelsea Match) that none of their mob realised who we were. The difficult bit was prising ourselves away from them to get to the nearest Station in tact. Golden Days...(td)

I take it you have had no "run-ins" with the "'ardiff" Mob then Matt!...lowest of the low.. When I visited this beautiful City that you describe I was having bricks thrown at me by the local skinheads...and that was the Girls...and I'm not joking, either... Go to a Cardiff Home game and support the Away side and try to make it back in one piece...:))

  21. Cardiff is a veritable pissh++e full of crackheads, hoes, skinheads, drunks, hooligans and the floatsam and jetsam which form the scum of the earth. Horrible place full of horrible people and some of them are Welsh, which, naturally, makes thus human shi++ole even worse... Not A Fan..(6) If you do take a day trip on the "Celtic Ranger" make sure you don't run aground in Tiger Bay, sorry Cardiff Bay...Shirley Bassey couldn't get out of that hellhole quick enough....and thats one of the more pleasant parts.....:(
  22. Dress sense apart I believe Roger is the personification nae embodiment of the perfect Sporstman. Excellent at his Sport, a great communicator and a tremendously nice Guy, as well. Modest, humble, successful thats more than enough for some to dislike him. An absolute credit to his Sport.
  23. A recent eye-witness to this recent phenomena said : "There were 50 to 60 people I reckon on the recent Northern Line "Naked Train" though it was just one carriage. The police got a bit shirty after they got wind of this and they stopped the train and made everyone get off at Moorgate - one stop short of the intended terminus. It was possibly one of the most bizarre things i've seen since moving to London, but it was definitely FUN FUN FUN!"
  24. I've watched this trendy show a couple of times now. Is it a Comedy?:-S
