  1. PR - thanks for drawing attention to this.
  2. I guess you've looked at these sites ? http://www.ucas.ac.uk/students/choosingcourses/specificsubjects/artanddesign/foundationcourses/c http://search.ucas.com/cgi-bin/hsrun/search/search/StateId/QQmz5wjc5KyMaSoSuuYAqRI5TGQZu-42_d/HAHTpage/search.HsKeywordSearch.whereNext?query=47&word=ART http://www.camberwell.arts.ac.uk/courses/ug.htm
  3. Dulwich Hamlet was where Sainsbury's is; it moves onto green land, Sainsbury's is built. Dulwich Hamlet now is to shift to Greendale (the playing fields behind its present site); housing will be built. And so, step by step, no green land at all remains. Alex K - that's exactly how I feel and sadly even land designated as Metropolitan Open Space can be built on . Alleyns built their theatre on MOL ,though it did take a referral to government ( with Southwark's recommendation that permission be granted ).
  4. I've not looked at the plans but am often depressed by the type of building that gets planning permission . If it is to be a flat roofed dark brick building I think it will look awful on this site ( I used to live in Ivanhoe Rd and know the area well .) As far as I know objecting to the asethics of the build is perfectly legitimate . Planning applications for housing near where I live in East Dulwich have been rejected with following reasons given by Southwark " proposed siting of residential units would result in an incongruous development that would display an unacceptable level of bulk and mass out of character with the pattern of development in this area and to the detriment of the amenity of the residents " Proposal is therefore considered to be contray to policies 3.11 " Effecient use of Land " 3.13"Urban Design " 3.2 "Protection of Amenity " I would look at other planning applications on line to get a guide as to what are considered legitimate objections etc . Apologies for spelling and typos - in haste .
  5. Sorry if I'm being dense but what is the location of this cash point ?
  6. Many years ago my father used to transport our family's first set of twins in a pram strapped to his sidecar . With the dog peeking out below . Third baby and second set of twins saw this practice become inadequate .
  7. Some children ,especially boys ,have a really high instep - sort of makes their foot very deep ,which can make putting shoes on difficult . ( and wellingtons practically impossible ).
  8. Can you turn up at Silvester Rd ( with ID I guess ) and ask if they've got anything for you ?
  9. NHS says paracetomol used routinely in pregnancy . http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/2397.aspx?categoryid=54&subcategoryid=129 Goldenseal tincture ( not goldenseal and echanacea tablets ) is fantastic for colds ,sore throats ,etc .Gargle and swallow .
  10. Well for what it's worth ,when I was driving last night at 9.30 the main roads were perfectly driveable . In the main I stuck to bus routes ,but Court Lane ,Eynella etc were all fine . It didn't actually seem that cold and the gritted roads weren't freezing . Not much help I know to this mornings debate .
  11. Just noticed other thread on same subject .
  12. That's terrible - poor Sandra . She's lovely and her pies are fantastic . They must have been watching her ,is she ok ?
  13. Is it ok to drive up ? Anyone know ?
  14. Sure that this has been covered before - but could someone give details on the how to judge what size bike is the correct size ?
  15. You may want to post this in the Family Section - think Kingsdale has been discussed there before . Good luck - horrid to have a child that's bullied .
  16. Oh Fuschia ,poor you . Why are you in so much pain ? Are they looking after you ? Do you need a hit squad ?
  17. Fuschia - oh dear ,I was wondering ( apart from the obvious ) why we'd not had a progress report . You poor thing . Chin up - you'll soon be home . Sending hugs .
  18. Terrific news - hope you'll be reading all this at home .
  19. Thanks for all advice guys . Sadly don't think cavity wall insulation is an option - it's an old single brick wall building - but I do think there's scope for draughtproofing . Shower/WC is downstairs in back extension ,though have to keep door open to facilitate access with frame . ( thinks - this having to keep doors open business must be such a common problem for people using walking aids ) Will think on about curtains ( especially charity shop ones ! )
  20. ok - scenario is 2 up ,2 down terraced house . Staircase ,with open bannisters running up from rear of back living room - so that a lot of heat escapes upstairs . Elderly occupant ,very limited mobility using downstairs two rooms as bedsit type set up . Just wanted to ask - best to keep radiators on upstairs and heat whole dwelling ,though upstairs not used or just keep on downstairs ? Keeping warm is the priority ,not saving costs . Any advice ?
  21. How are things this morning ? Are the bus drivers triumphing again ? Or are the roads too icy ?
  22. sheepdog - sorry ,don't quite see because mentally challenged - is 185 coming doen East Dulwich Rd and then left at Peckham Rye . Wondering where to try and pick it up .
  23. sheepdog - which route did the 185 go on it's diversion through Peckham?
