  1. Blimey - no that's not acceptable ! And if she gets pressure sores from sitting ( and potentially ) weeing in w/c all night ,it's going to end up costing the NHS more .Oh ,and possibly inconviencing the poor person . I think contact PALS at the hospital and explain what has happened .
  2. Very amusing all . Not quite the same though . And nice of mc to take the trouble to post .
  3. Pretty poor customer services from TW all round - on another matter ( noisy manhole covers ) they have contradicted themselves and refused to discuss more than one cover .
  4. How do we know that an increase in demand for water rather than an ageing and failing pipe network is causing leaks /bursts ?
  5. It's odd isn't it ,we're in Barry Rd and our water supply is and has been fine . I'm not sure how it would help but I'm happy to offer water to anyone nearby who needs it ...
  6. Yes that would be my thought . I wonder if you should report it? On line form here https://www.met.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/soh/something-youve-seen-or-heard/
  7. Electrical shop in Northcross Rd ? But prob not open on Sunday . Edwardes near Homebase in Penge ? Unit 2 Penge Industrial Estate Meaford Way, Oakfield Rd, London SE20 8RA but I think most electrical places shut on Sunday .
  8. Thanks for reporting this PR - I had seen mention of the closure but was hoping the time scale quoted was an error ! This is going to effect so many people who catch the train and shop (and have to visit the Highshore Rd sorting office ) . Getting off the bus in Copeland Rd and walking through to Rye Lane adds quite a distance .And I wonder where the stop to catch the south bound bus back to ED will be ? I'm sure the pipes are at least 100 years old .I know I'll be feeling the same carting shopping back without the direct bus service I've enjoyed for so long .
  9. singalto Strakers Rd is in the middle of Peckham Rye Park ,leading to the cafe .
  10. Credit where it's due - a welcome move .
  11. Yes that's my plan Sue .But somewhat irked that I might need to waste both mine and, more importantly ,the depts time doing this because the post is so unreliable .
  12. Kiera and Burbage thank you so much for taking the time to err ,post . Burbage your description made me laugh out loud and cheered me up no end . Huge thank you .
  13. Yes ,a tremor of concern went through me yesterday when GP referring me for a scan pronounced the words "You'll get a letter ..."
  14. The Baptist Church on corner of Lordship Lane and Goodrich Rd used to take them - they host ( or used to ) a drop in session for ayslum seekers/refugees on Tuesdays and needed them for distributing clothes etc .
  15. They are much in need of footwear donations I believe . When I asked them about duvets they were a little divided - on the one hand v useful for ppl moving into accomodation ,on the other runs the danger of bumping up the luggage they take with them and the taxi drivers refusing to take them . Which apparently ,if too much luggage they do .
  16. Thanks dresswaves ...I did wonder if that might be the case .
  17. Who knows with Southwark Cyclists given that they were all in favour of that cycleway when it was proposed .
  18. or here http://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking/parking-projects/dog-kennel-hill-parking-study-consultation
  19. There's a map in this link https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/dogkennelhill/
  20. I think Celia Hammond on Lewisham Way take duvets ,they certainly take bedding and other cloth stuff . You might need to take a friend to run into the shop with them while you hover outside in your car .Parking can be tricky .
  21. I don't understand how the authorities approach fixing the problem of what appears to me to be a manhole that is not level with the road surface . Or how it's decided whose responsibilty it is .Southwark ,if they maintain the road ? Thames Water if they maintain the cover ? Southwark@s on line reporting lists Broken covers as an item that can be reported ,suggesting that they take responsibilty for broken/damaged covers .Nothing about noisy ones . I had a frustrating telephone conversation yesterday which I imagine constituted an update . One of the covers I reported will be "thoroughly investigated " in the next 2 to 5 working days . I had to correct the quoted location and was unable to understand why the caller couldn't discuss the second cover that I had reported at the same time . I was told that the tarmac work to the cover opposite Mulberry Close had not been instigated by Thames Water . It all seems hopeless to me ,the cover near 161 Barry Rd has been noisy ( with brief respites ) for 12 months now .
  22. I've been trying to resist saying I told you so but I'm caving in . There was a "consultation" about this cycleway which didn't seem v well publicsed as it seemed to mainly involve asking local shop keepers .Who I don't think had a cyclists viewpoint ,or indeed that of a pedestrian shopper . I did respond to it outlining my concerns ,one of which was that my elderly mother with restricted sight would injure herself and a cyclist . I did post on here about it with little interest shown .I was told that Southwark Cyclists had been consulted and were fully supportive of the scheme .
  23. oh ow Lucy that looks really sore ,and a b*gger on the knee because it has to be flexed . Lots of sympathy from me .
  24. I think if one could control the traffic flow it might be possible to orchestrate a distinctive rythm.
  25. I saw all the tarmac - is covering (or attempting to cover ) the manhole how a sunken cover is dealt with ? I was imagining something more sophisticated . I always report to Thames Water ,do they simply inspect and if cover intact but unevenly bedded into the road then refer to Southwark Highways ?
