No ,most of Barry Rd won't be double yellows mrwb ,car parking spaces will be lost but mostly it will be resident CPZ permit parking if the proposals go ahead.

Jim do you mean that there are more available spaces to park ? What do you think is the reason for this ? I just don't understand how where I live ( might be different in other roads near the railway ) there will be an increase in parking spaces . Double yellow lines are proposed where there are currently none and we do not have a problem with commuters parking . There is always space to park .There won't be if the proposals are implemented .

Ok . I guess the assumption is that a number of parked cars are owned by non residents .Which I can see might be the case in roads near the station . But not so much in Barry Rd .And a number of other roads not near the station or LL.

It doesn't help me understand though ,how do 10 spoaces become 14 by marking out residents/pay and display spaces ? ( by the way when I say the proposed CPZ with residents parking and new waiting restrictions would remove 5 spaces near me I am not including "spaces" across dropped curbs )

Is it just me that doesn't understand the assertion that the CPZ will increase parking spaces ? "Eileen, at the drop in session last Saturday, Joanna told me that extending the double yellow lines as they have and turning the white lines at dropped curbs into extra long double yellow lines would increase parking in the CPZ by 40%." Where I live on Barry Rd as I look out of my window I can see 5 car parking spaces that would be removed by the proposed extension of double yellow lines either side of dropped curbs . And as there have been zero traffic incidents in the last 30 years at any of these dropped curbs I can see no rationale for extending waiting restrictions .

As Mark T has said the Barry Rd proposals for traffic calming need to be considered in conjuction with the CPZ proposals for that road . I don't know if the comments made at the drop in re Barry Rd are being taken into account and if a revised scheme will be presented ,but it would be useful to know whether the proposed traffic pillows are to be retained and what impact ,if any ,they will have on parking . FWIW I don't think it was a question of the representatives ( a Southwark engagement officer and staff from the consultancy agency ) denying knowledge of the CPZ .From answers to other questions ,they genuinely had no knowledge of the area - no clue that traffic pillows had been tried previously and removed because buses were unable to clear them ,no knowledge that the Barry Rd /Underhill Rd junction had seen several RTA ,no familiarity with local road names etc . More worringly there was an astonishing arrogance - when I asked whether TfL had been involved in the peoposals I was told that there was no need for this as Barry Rd was a road maintained by Southwark .

I often have similar thoughts about the cafe in Dulwich Park .

Where I live in Barry Rd parking is blissfully problem free . I know ,lucky us ,but we did choose to live where we live . The CPZ proposals will revoke that at a stroke by the removal of so many parking spaces. Double yellow lines across dropped curbs wiping out adjacent spaces and spaces in between 2 dropped curbs . Plus we'll have to pay .I would cough up the fee but not to facilitate making life more difficult .

onlyk - it's not just double yellow lines across the dropped curb ,they will extend either side . There are a couple of properties near me that have two dropped curbs currently with a large parking space inbetween them . The proposed extension of double yellow lines removes that parking space . No accidents have taken place with the current set up in the last 30 years . We all know they will do what they want .The consultation is just expensive window dressing designed to tick a box .

I don't understand why S'wark seem unable to organise more effective drop ins . I was so put off by the previous one I attended at Dulwich Library ( street calming ) that I didn't struggle (unwell today ) to get to this one . There is no mention of the traffic pillows proposed for Barry Rd ( at the above )on the current plans for a CPZ .My understanding is that such pillows will mean no parking either side and it seems odd not to integrate this with the current plans . Regardless of this, the proposed yellow lining of dropped curbs and their extension either side of the dropped curbs will significantly reduce parking spaces on Barry Rd . Can someone tell me whether some of the stretches of blue residents parking are replacing current yellow lines ?

Hi Admin - I see that 2 CPZ threads have been locked . The remaining CPZ thread has a title about the CPZ in roads off Lordship Lane and the discussion seems to be centred on how it will affect the shops in Lordship Lane ,plus some discussion of parking near the station . The area actually reaches from ED station to the Plough and from Greendales to Barry Rd and Peckham Rye Common .Lots of streets that could not be described as off LL. I did PM the OP of the LL thread to ask if the title could be ammended to indicate that the area is much wider than that indicated by the title . Why has the thread re the larger area of ED been locked ? If having 2 threads is deemed undesirable could the "streets off " title be ammended to indicate that it is discussing the whole ED CPZ inc the effect on the shops in LL ? The West Peckham CPZ is a different area altogether from the ED one and the subject of a seperate consultation ,it's not a duplication .Or is there another reason for it being locked ?

what does ESPH stand for ?

I moved from The Neighborhood Vet to Ellie in Norwood Rd ,Herne Hill . One of our cats has a skin problem which the NV were unable to resolve after many v expensive tests and a v expensive prescription .I was defeated by seeing a different person each time and by being given conflicting advice eg bath skin with salt water v.absolutely don't do that . Ellie is marvellous and sorted our cat out immediately .

Thanks for this Pugwash . I'm plagued by tinnitus and hearinmg loss so any pointers will be gratefully received .

Not sure I quite understand tash b's post but ...it's more than a 5min walk from Barry Rd ( say from the junction with Silvester) to The Neighborhood Vets and Barry Rd is one of the roads where a CPZ is being considered .
