  1. Wrongly delivered to my address . Great if you see this and could collect but otherwise I'll drop it round ,probably tomorrow . Your address is several streets away from mine ,otherwise I'd oblige now .
  2. It does seem to me that parking spaces will be reduced - I'm assuming that traffic cushions and islands and raised crossings will reduce parking space either side ? So if we do have a CPZ in Barry and surrounding roads there is going to be a major impact .
  3. I would also add a plea for a better presentation of proposals at future or similar meetings . I greatly welcomed the maps being placed loose on tables as personally I find ( I'm short ) craning my neck and trying to get my varifocals positioned correctly v difficult when documentation is pinned up on display boards . But I would have welcomed the info being presented in a clearer format to that available on line . So ,not a document divided into 4 squares with 4 different portions of Barry Rd but one diagram showing the entire length of the road in linear form . Maps with road names on and in a larger scale .Maps with titles so one has a clue to what they were depicting . It may be that if I had received the letter about the meeting I would have had the opportunity to familarise myself with the documentation before attending .But I didn't get a letter and I don't know it's content . Sorry to be so negative .
  4. It might be Charles ,I'm not sure at what point local councillors would feed that info into the process ? It seemed to me that insufficient local knowledge had informed the preperation of the proposals . The planner I spoke to was unaware that the junction of Underhill and Barry Rd had seen several accidents and ( even if statistics show that it is not a junction with a high rate of incidents ) was the subject of concern for locals . And one of the local councillors who attended ( kudos ) was unaware that the boundary of the CPZ area to be consulted on ( I know not the subject of the meeting ) runs down the middle of Barry Rd .
  5. The lack of local knowledge demonstrated by the individuals in attendance made me realise how very important it is to go along to such events .
  6. The "engagement" guy from Southwark wasn't aware that there was a problem with post in the area . I didn't get a letter but had bumped into a neighbour much further down who had . The planners who attended weren't aware that in the past speed cushions had been intalled and had to be removed because of difficulties they caused to buses . Apparently there has been no discussion with TFL about the proposals because " it's a Southwark road and we don't need to " .
  7. James - interesting post copied below from original thread "Re: dangerous structure on crystal palace road new Posted by Hawley Today, 09:24AM I had the misfortune of dealing with the owner of this property back in 2013. He lives in Stamford Hill and in my opinion is a highly unusual character. As other posters have pointed out the house has been empty for at least six years, probably a lot longer. When I last ventured inside in 2014 the interior was caked in pigeon excrement. It was crusted all down the staircase and banister, like a sort of bird-poo stalactite. The smell was indescribable. After months of trying to get the owner to sort out his chamber of horrors, I contacted James Barber and Tessa Jowell, both of whom were extremely helpful. I was put in touch with Michelle Williams at Southwark Council who was... well, less helpful. The upshot of all this was that the council assured me that they would enforce a compulsory purchase order on the property. This was in 2014. Clearly little has been done since. No surprise there."
  8. I'm surprised by how large an area is covered by the map ,but perhaps that size of catchement area is the norm .
  9. Yes ,really kind of you Monkey .
  10. that's a good idea Abil - what sort of time do you think would work ?
  11. What does the enquiry office do ?
  12. Closure of Slyvester Rd sorting office - amalgamation with sorting office in Peckham .Measures being taken - overnight work sorting now in place ,local MP Helen Hayes has taken up issue . http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1804279
  13. Mark T - is this still the policy ? . Are there examples of this being put in place ? It would be so punitive for properties next to a new dropped curb .
  14. hamsandwich both before midday .Hope you got your delivery .
  15. I'm on Barry Rd and we got 2 deliveries today - the first in a week .
  16. House next door to my mum in Peckham took years to be possessed by council and auctioned off . The owner couldn't be traced ( though rather unhappily his body was uncovered in the house when it was being gutted ) and Southwark eventually claimed the building in lieu of unpaid taxes ,
  17. I'm a big fan of doing nothing . Might even be a good idea in this instance . Fewer people spurred on to install dropped kerbs through fear of CPZ ,no reduction in parking spaces and less driving hunting for one . No installing new road markings ,official notifications .....
  18. Interesting and helpful ,thank you se22. FWIW I think there is general sympathy and a recognition of increased work load for those delivering mail and other workers caught up in this mess .
  19. Penguin from ( admittedly not v determined ) attempts to complain on line it seems that a complaint has to be made in the first instance to Royal Mail .Other than not reiving any post for many days I can't really prove that anything has been delayed ,I'm not actually expecting anything . So I guess I can't complain .
  20. Thanks for highlighting this UV .I've mentioned it on a local councillors thread ,hopefully he can succesfully chase up .
  21. James Could you put some pressure on Southwark re this dangerous structure ? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1971588 Thanks and good luck .
  22. "Two PO vans and several postmen with the mail in lots of boxes actually being sorted on the road at the junction of Worlingham/Crawthew this morning. The box on the wall stuffed full of mail" Sue -I guess if they are trying to sort mail as reported above it must be difficult to get it into accurate bundles .
  23. Haven't raised tables been tried in the past on Barry Rd and then removed ? Perhaps old style raised tables caused problems with buses but newer styles of both would overcome these ? Anyone know the history ? Anyone understand the rationale for running the boundary of the possible CPZ down the middle of Barry Rd and excluding one side ? Apologies if this expained on docs already linked to ,I didn't find them the easiest to view on line .
  24. I wonder what would happen if you ignore the request to remove the downlighters ?
