  1. I'm a big fan of doing nothing . Might even be a good idea in this instance . Fewer people spurred on to install dropped kerbs through fear of CPZ ,no reduction in parking spaces and less driving hunting for one . No installing new road markings ,official notifications .....
  2. Interesting and helpful ,thank you se22. FWIW I think there is general sympathy and a recognition of increased work load for those delivering mail and other workers caught up in this mess .
  3. Penguin from ( admittedly not v determined ) attempts to complain on line it seems that a complaint has to be made in the first instance to Royal Mail .Other than not reiving any post for many days I can't really prove that anything has been delayed ,I'm not actually expecting anything . So I guess I can't complain .
  4. Thanks for highlighting this UV .I've mentioned it on a local councillors thread ,hopefully he can succesfully chase up .
  5. James Could you put some pressure on Southwark re this dangerous structure ? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1971588 Thanks and good luck .
  6. "Two PO vans and several postmen with the mail in lots of boxes actually being sorted on the road at the junction of Worlingham/Crawthew this morning. The box on the wall stuffed full of mail" Sue -I guess if they are trying to sort mail as reported above it must be difficult to get it into accurate bundles .
  7. Haven't raised tables been tried in the past on Barry Rd and then removed ? Perhaps old style raised tables caused problems with buses but newer styles of both would overcome these ? Anyone know the history ? Anyone understand the rationale for running the boundary of the possible CPZ down the middle of Barry Rd and excluding one side ? Apologies if this expained on docs already linked to ,I didn't find them the easiest to view on line .
  8. I wonder what would happen if you ignore the request to remove the downlighters ?
  9. ianr - one for the team ! Do report back on your findings !
  10. I think it wld be helpful if self adhesive stickers ,especially for the recycling bin were available ( maybe on demand for a few ? ) . I too get fed up with hoiking out non recyclable items like plastic bags from a shared bin . Also good to have clarification on plastic recyclable stuff .I look for the triangle logo and it's not there it goes in general waste .
  11. RH I was thinking that it would just be a way of excusing their lack of progress and interest .
  12. ime reports from the Met aren't always reliable ,I've not forgotten the Ian Tomlinson case.
  13. I'd be inclined to ignore the new instruction and carry on . Let the freeholder go to the expense of trying to legally enforce his request .As above it's likely that you have right of access and the right to put one bin . It's also likely that the one bin restriction applies to upstairs as well . Copies of your lease ( if not supplied by your conveyancer /slcr on purchase ) are available for a few pounds from https://www.gov.uk/guidance/land-registry-portal-how-to-request-official-copies. You can also get a copy of the lease for upstairs . From memory it's a bit clunky jumping through the hoops to get lease copies ( title deeds and plans are easy ) ,if you want any help fell free to PM me . This forum https://forums.landlordzone.co.uk/forum/long-leasehold-questions is helpful . Also this https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=2
  14. Bit early for a delivery today ,may still arrive .
  15. ah ,the well known dissapearance of a problem under the observation of a professional . I can only assume that it was emergency work for one of the untilties . Sounded a bit like industrial grinding of concrete . Am I the only person to have heard it ? I must admit ,initally I was expecting it to fade out ,as airoplane noise does .Maybe everyone just automatically screened it out.
  16. Is it just me or was there an unusual noise ( high pitched drone ??) this morning 6.30 -8 am ?
  17. oh my goodness ,how fascinating ! I am so jealous ! Have you gleaned all the info quoted from the found paperwork or have you already searched on a geanology site as Ilona suggests ?
  18. I'm noting all these suggestions and I'm v grateful for them so keep them coming ! All tips - currenct related and others are sadly new to me .
  19. Sue - massive sympathy ,it sounds dreadful . i'm guessing they ruled out Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo ?
  20. Thank you all ,so helpful! I quite fancy the 42 bus actually .
  21. Thank you RH ,that's really helpful .Just the kind of info I need .I am so not used to such activities as flying . Was googling buying lira earlier ,until I realised it would be Euros !
  22. Need to be at Stansted for a 10 am flight on a Tuesday morning .Guidance is to be at airport at 8am . LT planner suggests overground to Whitechapel or Thameslink to Farringdon and tube to Liverpool St and then train to Stansted . Does anyone know which offers least walking /easiest interchange ? It sounds a bit like hard work. Anyone any idea of taxi cost ? Should we use Uber ? Any advice gratefully received .
  23. Thank you ,makes a bit more sense to me now ! Any advice on how to target my tapping on my new Amazon Fire ? Or is it designed for young people with slender fingers ? Should I get one of those little stick/pencil type things I've seen ?
