Proposed East Dulwich CPZ
intexasatthe moment replied to treehugger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Apusmo I'm not sure that a CPZ will reduce traffic .Are you thinking less vehicles looking to park and parking ? It won't reduce thru traffic will it ? And it will reduce car parking spaces so may add to rage ,congestion ,air pollution etc -
Proposed East Dulwich CPZ
intexasatthe moment replied to treehugger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think maybe the whole concept of a CPZ appeals to ppl who think it will guarantee them a parking space near their house in exchange for a fee, I've known friends in CPZ and their experience has been a reduction in parking spaces and a continuing difficulty in finding a space . Factor in the domino effect caused by a CPZ in one road to adjacent streets , increased complexity for parking for carers ( formal and informal ) and my own personal fear which is that CPZs encourage the turning of front gardens into hard surfaced car parking areas then it seems less of the soloution that some think . -

They say they have attended to the 161 three times since April 2018 ( I've certainly reported this one twice ) but that Barry Rd had been resurfaced and the cover on last inspection did not need attention .

Driving to the M1 from East Dulwich
intexasatthe moment replied to intexasatthe moment's topic in The Lounge
Thank you both very much ,relieved to know I'm not going mad . Thanks again . -
The route planner is suggesting a complicated route whereby after Marble Arch one turns left and then right threading through streets to the west of the Edgeware Rd and later joining the Marlyebone Rd . But can I just drive up the Edgeware Rd from Marble Arch ???

Umm......I hardly like to raise this and it's only my preference but does "me only " sound odd to anyone else ? Or is it only me ? -
So glad that you've been seen by someone helpful . I hope you'll go on improving and will soon be back to full health . It sounds like a perticularly nasty afflication .

Another wishing you ( and family ) well . Come back soon .

I agree they were all lovely .I was impressed by how friendly and cheerful they were in the face of horrible weather and low turnout .

Hope you got some answers today Sue and are on the road to recovery .

We have secondary glazing at the front .It's old ,heavy and makes window cleaning impossible .But it cuts out noise and I'm sure modern stuff is easier to manage /

This week I've had post with my door number but several streets away so I don't think the sorting is working well . -

I would also add a plea for a better presentation of proposals at future or similar meetings . I greatly welcomed the maps being placed loose on tables as personally I find ( I'm short ) craning my neck and trying to get my varifocals positioned correctly v difficult when documentation is pinned up on display boards . But I would have welcomed the info being presented in a clearer format to that available on line . So ,not a document divided into 4 squares with 4 different portions of Barry Rd but one diagram showing the entire length of the road in linear form . Maps with road names on and in a larger scale .Maps with titles so one has a clue to what they were depicting . It may be that if I had received the letter about the meeting I would have had the opportunity to familarise myself with the documentation before attending .But I didn't get a letter and I don't know it's content . Sorry to be so negative .

It might be Charles ,I'm not sure at what point local councillors would feed that info into the process ? It seemed to me that insufficient local knowledge had informed the preperation of the proposals . The planner I spoke to was unaware that the junction of Underhill and Barry Rd had seen several accidents and ( even if statistics show that it is not a junction with a high rate of incidents ) was the subject of concern for locals . And one of the local councillors who attended ( kudos ) was unaware that the boundary of the CPZ area to be consulted on ( I know not the subject of the meeting ) runs down the middle of Barry Rd .

The "engagement" guy from Southwark wasn't aware that there was a problem with post in the area . I didn't get a letter but had bumped into a neighbour much further down who had . The planners who attended weren't aware that in the past speed cushions had been intalled and had to be removed because of difficulties they caused to buses . Apparently there has been no discussion with TFL about the proposals because " it's a Southwark road and we don't need to " .

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?

James - interesting post copied below from original thread "Re: dangerous structure on crystal palace road new Posted by Hawley Today, 09:24AM I had the misfortune of dealing with the owner of this property back in 2013. He lives in Stamford Hill and in my opinion is a highly unusual character. As other posters have pointed out the house has been empty for at least six years, probably a lot longer. When I last ventured inside in 2014 the interior was caked in pigeon excrement. It was crusted all down the staircase and banister, like a sort of bird-poo stalactite. The smell was indescribable. After months of trying to get the owner to sort out his chamber of horrors, I contacted James Barber and Tessa Jowell, both of whom were extremely helpful. I was put in touch with Michelle Williams at Southwark Council who was... well, less helpful. The upshot of all this was that the council assured me that they would enforce a compulsory purchase order on the property. This was in 2014. Clearly little has been done since. No surprise there." -

I'm surprised by how large an area is covered by the map ,but perhaps that size of catchement area is the norm . -
