  1. Is the spot you're talking about in Lewisham? I'm still looking for a borough boundary map, but according to http://www.londontown.com/LondonStreets/Boro/Lewisham?search=N, Netherby Road is.
  2. An AA view: http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/news/frosting-and-car-jacking.html
  3. Coukld it do with an inverted triangle Give Way sign, to supplement the double dashed road marking?

  5. Speaking of Private Eye, did any other subscriber receive (or not) No. 1249, the one before the current one, that should have been delivered about 11 November? Mines not arrived yet. I actually won the PE crossword prize a century or so ago. I wonder what the odds are.

  7. >One might argue that the dog in question was not ferocious. That point was dealt with in Keddle v Payn [1964]. A dog can be deemed dangerous without being deemed ferocious. It's referred to in paras 27-29 of the Briscoe judgement http://www.bailii.org/cgi-bin/markup.cgi?doc=/ew/cases/EWHC/Admin/1998/929.htm cited above.
  8. At http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-pets/pets/dangerous/index.htm are the "Dangerous Dogs Law ? Guidance for Enforcers" http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-pets/pets/cruelty/documents/dogs-guide-enforcers.pdf and other guidance documents.

    Google mail

It is quite probably some application hogging your CPU, rather than anything specific to google. AVG or Firefox are among possible likely current candidates. If you're using Windows, try running Windows Task Manager and check what processes are using the CPU when the problem occurs. Some people have also reported Firefox 'losing focus', ie changing which is the active window without good cause. If that's the cause, clicking your mouse in the window you want to be active would restore your ability to type in it.
  10. I suspect the most the RSPCA could do, if they think there's any mileage in the application, is to seek a magistrates court order to the owner to keep the dog under proper control. Huggers> surely this guy was breaking the law by having a dog off lead in the street and could be done for that? A Dogs on Leads Order http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2006/20061059.htm applies to a specified area. The only mention I can find of one on the Southwark website refers to the Aylesbury Estate only http://www.southwark.gov.uk/Public/NewsArticle.aspx?articleId=37314.

  12. Frame serial numbers are usually stamped on the underside of the bottom bracket (the cylindrical bit at the bottom of the frame that contains the axle the pedal cranks connect to).
  13. Burbage Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You can use this [link to Southwark Libraries catalogue] for finding books. Strictly speaking, you can use it for finding books (and other items) which have at some time been added to the library stock. Whether they are actually on the shelf when you get there is, ime, something of a 50-50 bet. Other London libraries have the problem too.

The Private Eye that I would normally have received on 30 September didn't arrive until 30 October (overtaken by the subsequent issue).
  15. Thank you.
  16. Well I've just found (from following up a thread here) the splendid http://www.ministryofburlesque.com. Lots of interesting threads like "I need help with my balloon act!"
  17. I thought this was the first page. And so it was, reader, that I never found the EDF drinks, remained single for a further n years, ... [ctd page 94 (just 2 yards past the lamppost)]
  18. skidmarks Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ianr > > look back two pages That was where I quoted ???? from in the first place. Nevertheless, looked back through all the thread, and still can't see anything that answers my question. You'd best spell it out for me.

And has her own Spotlight entry. Whore, nice mum, police officer, burlesquers, she's done them all. Versatile and enterprising lady. So support your local thesp. I've exercised my franchise: entered into the spirit of the game and entered as my reason 'Oozes mature allure.' The comp does have a smack of marketing/promo on the part of Vanity Studios. I hope it's useful to you too, Teaser.
  21. Has anyone yet received the copy of Private Eye that would normally have been delivered on 30 September?
  22. Just a link to a parallel thread, Bird of prey in ED: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,357402
  23. louisiana Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Could you post it to the ED Nature watch thread? - helps keep all our beasties together. I'll put a link in that thread. Here are some pics I took of the Gang of Four sparrowhawks that I saw hanging around the East Dulwich Hospital site in July last year. Not up to the same quality, but most of them were taken through binoculars. Most of the time they just spent their afternoons perched on one or other window ledge or chimney, occasionally spreading their wings to move 20 yards to another one. Lazy buggers. I only noticed them after hearing lots of animated mewing from one of them after a strike on the neighbouring garden.
  24. If you're having problems specifically with e-mails, that will be due to either (1) a problem (probably a misconfiguration) with your own system or (2) a temporary problem at your ISP's end. The second is the more likely. Check your ISP's website. If they're any good (some are not) they will have good up-to-date service status reports. I'm having no problems on virgin.net.
